To think Brooklyn Beckham fallout is just a precursor for all the kids growing up as influencer/celebs on social media?

There's soon going to be 100s of kids aging out of social media "stardom"... Where their lives have been plastered all over social media for anyone to see...

Kids either the actual focus,or on the periphery as "props" - a lot of them not seeing a penny for their work.

Give it ten years and the damage fine will be huge and hopefully there'll be some sort of protection.

I've seen examples where the woman lives in a massive beautiful house, the kids appear to be homeschooled, and she takes videos of the girls having baths (back to camera...but still 😬)
Or that little boy who dances at a middling level but the mother has taken him out of school and parades him around (Brody?) or the boy that reviewed toys (Ryan's world) ... All sorts of kids being made to work at the cost of their privacy.

It's just all a disaster in the making.

What do you mean "dont see a penny for their work". Brooklyn Beckham has never worked, standing around to have your photo taken isn't work! Find it laughable that he's now and "aspiring chef" ... not sure what happened to him being a "photographer".
It's a joke really, totally talentless all these rich kids who do.nothing with their lives!

I really feel for Brooklyn. He has obviously tried to deal with it pribately and realised that isn’t working. These types of parents who see their children as part of the money making brand are really damaging their children and I agree we are going to see a huge fall out over the coming years, as more kids who have been posted on social media come of age.

I know of the Sacconyjolys. Creepy dad, enabling and somewhat checked out mum who is more interested in her eating disorder which she now hides behind her going to ‘school’ to learn about nutrition, and her looks. Kids are sexualised, dressed inappropriately for their age, they’ve transitioned one, one was talking about hating herself at age , private moments shown….it’s all great for views though.

Another terrible one are the Inghams. They’ve ruined their 6 children. Their kids are the reason people watch but I doubt very much those kids have anything put by for them as their life is catching up with them now. The kids are ‘homeschooled’ but none are progressing, socially they are behind, older ones have little to no qualifications, the parents are happy to isolate them from the world for their channel on YouTube. Awful.

Laws need to be made to protect these children.

This family is sickening and the one I was referring too... mumsnet always used to delete posts whenever anyone mentioned them. They must have had some kind of media tracker.

Really? That doesn’t surprise me. He’s running scared now, apparently they owe a lot in tax, numerous CCJs etc and it’s hopefully only a matter of time before everything catches up with him. I think the older girls are unfortunately a lost cause, but the younger 3 can hopefully be helped. Poor kids. It’s happening in plain sight. It’s really sad.

The thing is by putting your children’s faces all over the place you’re taking away their opportunity to do a normal job.
Brooklyn couldn’t have finished his A levels and become an electrician (example) if he wanted to, he is far too famous for that, with no art to back up the level of fame that given the choice he might not have wanted.

MidWayThruJanuary · 20/01/2026 16:19

@ByQuaintAzureWasp
Same can be said for Cruz and his music career - his March gig is being pushed by his parents. What work has he ever done to reach that level of attainment? Why is Jackie Apostel with him? Could it be because of his millionaire parents?
What is Romeo doing? Is he out at Uni or on an apprenticeship? No. So what is his career path going to be..

I watched a couple of episodes of Stacey and Joe and felt very sorry for the older son when he got his GCSE results and had failed English or Maths. He was clearly feeling down about it and even as a viewer that was obvious. I felt very sorry for him that such an important and difficult moment involved having a camera thrust at him and having to answer his mum’s questioning about it all being filmed and broadcast on TV.

Stacey really should not have allowed that conversation between a 16 year old lad getting his disappointing GCSE results and needing to talk it through with his mum to be filmed and broadcast, it genuinely felt wrong to me even though I generally like SS. My DD a couple of years younger was watching too and said how much she would have hated it.

Imagine Shari Franke, every time you go for a job interview, they may have watched the video where your mum took you shopping for your first bra! Or the Duggars who were only able to make the show as they had so many kids, but then they got told things like you only have this food because of the show. If you can't afford food for your children, stop having so many.

I regret now that I ever put pics of my kids online, but it was at least only ever on private facebook and fairly infrequently. Never anything like potty training, or in the bath, and haven't posted any pics of them for a few years at least.

I would like to see privacy laws for children that mean their images can not be shared on social media without explicit consent from 16 onwards.
As for filming tantrums, bedtimes and bathtimes these freak parents want locking up.

100% agree.

GRCP · 20/01/2026 17:44

I mean yeah but in Brooklyn’s case he literally has never had a job and is married to a billionaire purely because of his fame and his parents brand. If I could go back in time and hand my parents a phone and a million followers I’d be pretty tempted.

I know she’s not a celeb but there’s a Scottish influencer whose son is autistic and non verbal and I think it’s horrifying he’s plastered all over her Tik Tok and can’t give his consent. I get she frames it as ‘educating people’ but it’s just so wrong, and monetising it all too.

There’s one from Liverpool too. Her son is autistic and non verbal. He’s got a weight problem and she feeds him junk food and sweets and pork pie, buys him massive piles of presents so he gets overwhelmed. There’s also a man from Scotland with his daughter at Christmas with a massive pile of presents, he was filming her opening them and wouldn’t let her play with them as she had more to open and he was filming!

Really, at the cost of your privacy and family relationships?

They don't really need a career or a job. They will have plenty of investments bringing in plenty money.

GameOfJones · 20/01/2026 18:38

People need to stop watching these accounts. There's plenty of examples on these threads but even if you're watching because you are appalled by the level of over exposure of their children.....you are fuelling the fire by adding to their viewing figures.

Bobbieiris · 20/01/2026 19:43

@ASeatNextToMe and @LondonBlueTopaz I had never heard of the Ingram family so looked them up. Their videos were really dull so didn’t watch much. How have they ruined their children? I’ll never understand the fascination with family vlogs , I find them incredibly boring! However I follow a few mums who show cleaning, cooking, looking round charity shops etc….hardly exciting but I guess I can relate to that whereas watching other people kids is just not interesting is it

wheresmymojo · 20/01/2026 21:12

Netflix has an interesting documentary called Kidfluencing on at the moment - it’s a particularly terrible case as it involves alleged SA (by a woman) but touches on other aspects too

abracadabra1980 · 20/01/2026 17:42

100% agree.

I agree too. Not even with their faces blurred or their backs only. Posting videos of children in the bath, in swimwear, in nappies, in school uniform etc should be illegal for safeguarding reasons. Children cannot consent to online content. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out. I hope they do manage to sue their parents for making money off them and their parents lose everything. It’s depressing how many followers these influencers have too.

thatsthatsaidthemayor · 21/01/2026 02:09

Bullshit. The media he is criticising is the only thing he has. Nicola wouldn’t have touched him with a barge pole without it. Family problems. The Beckhams didn’t have the hindsight of what social media would become. Doesn’t matter, rich or poor. We all make mistakes.

Money doesn’t buy happiness but when you have it the world judges and you’re supposed to be happy? It’s harder.

SoftIce · 21/01/2026 06:50

I wonder if Brooklyn inadvertently has stumbled on a new potential career here. Campaigning for Brooklyn's law! :-)

I think by not making sure your children have a basic education is a sure way of ruining your children’s life.

Bobbieiris · 21/01/2026 07:18

@Lifesyoungdream thats terrible, so no school/ homeschool or socialising? Poor kids! O saw they live in Dubai so must be making pots of money too so they could at least afford some good private tutors

Pinkponyclubpub · 21/01/2026 07:35

Candleabra · 20/01/2026 08:40

I agree. And not just celebs. I know people who’ve posted their children’s every move from the early days of FB. The kids are around 18/19 now. Imagine having your toddler tantrum videos and health issues for all to read online.

This 👆...a relative of mine goes through phrases of broadcasting videos like they are an influencer discussing their relationship with their DM. Like everyone needs to know their business. DM is aware of the videos and does not give them air to breathe. It is embarrassing.

That was a good documentary. Make you think why some people go to such lengths to make money from their children to fund their lifestyle.

Passingthrough123 · 21/01/2026 07:43

I agree, OP. There will be a lot of influencer/celebrity offspring watching the Beckham saga with interest and I wouldn’t be surprised if others start speaking out. There was also a court case in Austria where non- famous 18-year-old sued their parents for refusing to take down thousands of pictures of them posted throughout their childhood. Parents argued it was their right to share their child’s image. Court disagreed. There have been cases in Italy and France too.

They should allow the same here.

Meanwhile, I see in today’s papers VB and DB have learned nothing from their son’s statement and are continuing to brief against him and his wife, saying they will only talk to him again if he splits from N and saying from now on they’ll just be “The Fab Five”. 🤮
