Are you saying it's not true? Doesn't seem much different to Pippa Crear's earlier piece - or is she a Corbyn sympathiser too?

Are you suggesting to a bona fide Guardian subscriber that I'm suggesting it's not true - and why have you jumped to that conclusion?

The mind ogles.

DuncinToffee · 22/01/2026 19:22

This from ITV made me smile

Danish PM Mette Frederiksen praises British 'pragmatism' in a meeting with Keir Starmer at Downing St after Trump dropped tariff threats over Greenland

'You have a cup of tea & then you think a bit about everything. You get the facts on the table & then you find a way forward'

He's said different things on different occasions about his 'plans' IIRC most recently said he 'wouldn't rule it out'

It would be a huge risk for him Resign from mayoralty with no guarantee of being elected to parliament

Yes. And given the shit that is piled on Starmer day in day out, who in their right mind would want to replace him? I think it all may very well come to nothing.

That's my feeling too

He lost a couple of leadership elections previously - and said 'never again!'

Ah you see that won’t be good enough for the Drama-Llama rent-a-gob crowd. They love a bit of willy waving. It’s why they are so fond of Trump/Vance etc.

Maybe Andy Burnham is going to Reform UK where he can then shit on everyone and they all clap and vote for him.

Did Burnham say never again?

Notonthestairs · 22/01/2026 19:41

Isn’t it too soon for a leadership bid?
The Shit List remains significant. The Tories didn’t want to win in 2024 - Austerity/Brexit/Johnson/Truss had each in their own ways wrought too much damage for an easy pain free clean up.
A (comparatively) fresh face isn’t going to make the job any easier.
Why launch now or even this year??
There are no solutions that don’t require trade offs.

Alexandra2001 · 22/01/2026 19:42

He'd be mad to even consider standing & given the polling atm, he could very easily lose a by-election, plus again, given polling, he could be PM for just 2 years.. would Labours fortunes be revived by Burnham? i doubt it.

The NEC can easily block him an "All Women Short list" as Sky's correspondent has been told but one NEC member.

Anyway, can't stand him, i remember him as Health Secretary and doing nothing about the loss of NHS dentistry ( a bugbear of mine)

placemats · 22/01/2026 19:51

Well poor wee darling Farage has managed this week to:

Apologise for not submitting his significant extra earnings to Parliament on time.

Not reveal the Labour party member defection.

Didn't get to sup from the sperm beaker of a demented leader.

One has to weep for him. Tosser.

PandoraSocks · 22/01/2026 19:52

"Sperm beaker"🤣🤣🤣

Led by Donkeys.

They do sterling work. He'll play the victim because they're being sooo meeean to him, of course.

BIossomtoes · 22/01/2026 22:56

LbD just keep getting better.

DuncinToffee · 23/01/2026 09:11

He is very quiet at the moment. Maybe he really did forget how to use a computer?

Quick look on nitter shows photos in the snow and lies about cancelled elections.

What's Farages take on his mate dissing the British army ?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/czr444j671vo

Remember this?

Trump received five deferments from service in Vietnam: four for academic reasons and one for bone spurs – calcium buildups – in his heels. In 2015, he said at a news conference he couldn’t remember which heel the bone spurs had affected. His campaign said it was both.

In July 2016, Trump told the New York Times: “I had a doctor that gave me a letter – a very strong letter on the heels.” The problem had been “temporary” and “minor”, he said, adding: “Over a period of time, it healed up.”

He also said: “You know, it was difficult from the long-term walking standpoint.”

@DuncinToffee that photo of Farage in the snow is really odd. It looks fake. In the rest of them he just looks like a stupid, vain, puffed up arse.

Four council by-elections last night I think. Reform made one gain from Labour. No cigar in the other three (Con hold, SNP hold and LibDem gain from Greens).

Badenoch has now joined those condeming Trump's comments.

Still silence from Clacton and co.

Simon Hoare, chair of the Commons public administration and constitutional affairs committee said:

Frankly Trump makes my flesh creep and my stomach turn. Where are his advisors? Where is his nurse? Where is his sense of shame?

That is very well put!

IF Badenoch had any sense, she would have instantly condemned it.

Notonthestairs · 23/01/2026 10:22

She couldn't immediately condemn it because she needed to work out how Twitter was reporting it first.

Boris Johnson method of watching the crowd and pretend to be leading the way.
