Morning all
This isn't a survey dressed up. I'm looking to replace my car later this year and curious what car you have and do you like it?

As it's only me now (and small dog) I have a Peugeot 208 and really love it. I don't do huge miles but it's zippy enough on the motorway when I do. I wouldn't have considered a Peugeot before but DP has one (bigger model) and liked it.

I adores my Mazda 4. Perfect town car. I have a Honda crv and love that, it’s a tardis and goes through the recent snow here in Aberdeenshire, so very well.
I would very much love a mini, the suv type I think as we are rural but oh they are lovely but I’ve. It heard good things about reliability.

I have a 2023 Citroën c5x called Linda, love the speed and power, she goes like stink, absolutely adore her, but no back windshield wiper and no heated seats which I just assumed was standard on all cars. As far as I know it is one of the cars with the best suspension (much needed on our pothole filled roads) so is the most comfortable car I've ever driven even compared to the Mercedes and Porsche.

Quite fancy the new Toyota supra though...

Redrosesposies · 11/01/2026 13:31

I have a Kia Ceed. It's the most boring car I have ever owned and I have owned many.

AllllPanicNoDisco · 11/01/2026 13:35

I have a 2022 BMW M3 and it makes me smile each time I drive it. Yes it has indicators and yes they work. So not a very 'girly' car but it's my pride and joy!

TheFairyCaravan · 11/01/2026 13:36

I’ve got a Skoda Enyaq. I absolutely love it and won’t go back to an ICE car now.

Our other car is a Skoda Karoq which doesn’t hold a torch to the Enyaq. We could do with downsizing that one tbh

tartyflette · 11/01/2026 13:38

We are very boring, have had various AUDIs for about 20 years now, A4, A6 estates and now on our 2nd A5 which I love. We’ve had it for about 5 years now and will probably replace this year, if we can find another about 1-2 years old.
Sad they have stopped making them now. Don’t really like the Audi SUVs, ubiquitous and a bit dull.

I was going to start a thread like this!
I have a Volvo V40 which I love and they don't make them any more. It's coming up to ten years old and I plan to replace it this year. I'd quite like a fun car of similar size and petrol not EV. Must have heated seats, that's actually non-negotiable!

I remember starting a car thread a few years ago and the first few posts were "why do you need a car you should walk or catch a bus"

This was my first automatic car and I love it. It's exactly the right size, decent power and a pleasure to drive. DC are adults now so no need for a car that can move them to uni or flat moves.
I bought a mini a few years ago and it was great fun but the gears were too difficult to change (I have RA).

Kindafreakingouthere · 11/01/2026 13:45

VW golf GTE…drove an older 2019 model (borrowed from OH’s work) and loved it…bought a new one and love it even more!!
it’s fast, fun to drive and very economic in fuel (petrol plug in hybrid)! Also not too big and lots of the ‘extras’ come as standard because it’s the GTE model.
downside is the £600 road tax but that’s on anything over £40k list price when new now.

Dearg · 11/01/2026 13:51

I have a BMW 3 series estate. Its a high spec model, and it is just perfect for me and my Labrador.
I feel very at home in it - I am pretty loyal to the marque.

SnowDaysAndBadLays · 11/01/2026 13:52

Mini Cooper, I love it.

Lastqueenofscotland2 · 11/01/2026 13:54

F55 Mini Cooper, obsessed with it. Great fun to drive, lovely interior (I think mini interior is one of the nicest on the market) and never misses a beat reliability wise

Pepsi4Eva · 11/01/2026 13:55

10 year old Kia picanto.

I LOVE it.

It's reliable, zippy. Perfect for my local area which has small rural roads. It has a surprising amount of oomph which amuses me when I can go faster at green lights than other larger cars. Plus I have managed to fit 2 DCs, a labrador, a stroller and a (small) christmas tree in it all at one time.

ToadRage · 11/01/2026 13:57

I have a new Electric Hyundai Kona. My in-laws and neigbour also have Hybrid Hyundai Konas. It's a nice little car, can fit 4 adults in, comfortable for long journeys, can get a long way on a single charge, due to disability i needed something that was high enough for me to get in and out of easily and its ideal, spacious boot to fit my walker folded up in and hopefully a scooter when I get one. My parents always swore by Volkswagon and they served us well. My husband really wanted a Ford Capri but we needed something in the summer and they weren't available til October

I can only assume you’ve never actually been in a car which goes like stink.

Audi A1 - not really! Only reason I changed car and downsized was so that I could share with young adult DD to save on costs. It looks lovely but that’s where the benefits stop I’m afraid! In reality it’s far too low and small, rubbish suspension so you really feel every bump in the road. The 1l engine isn’t too bad, it doesn’t seem to struggle too much but can be frustrating when you’re needing to speed up quickly to get out of a junction/merge onto motorway etc. It’s only 2 years old and has had constant faults and warning lights

Thanks for this as was on my list!

I've come off light asking this question, by the sounds of it. However if anyone would like an argument and suggest I use public transport to do my job, which covers 3 rural council areas then be my guest!!

Audi Q4. It’s great. No issues. At home charger came with it. V quick and comfortable for 4 adults. This week I have loved the ability to defrost/heat up via an app before getting in.

serialgrannie · 11/01/2026 15:06

I have a mini automatic which I love. I’m small and I feel totally in control of it. It’s nippy and comfortable and so easy to drive and park. Really good for urban driving. Can’t think of any downsides except for the colour which is boring. I’m old so it may be my last car but if I do change it it will be for a mini electric. DHs car is a Mercedes electric which is brilliant.

Bohemond23 · 11/01/2026 18:30

Defender. But I saw one of the new Renault 5s yesterday and loved it - so retro.

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 11/01/2026 18:34

Zafira. Hate it is really finctional.

KC2007 · 11/01/2026 20:08

VW Tiguan RLine, absolute loving it

Catcuddles2 · 11/01/2026 20:10

I have a Jazz Crosstar. I wouldn’t swap it for anything.

fataroundthemiddle · 11/01/2026 20:12

Smart. On my 4th one now. Look after it and love it.

Seawolves · 11/01/2026 20:16

VW Crafter, a bit bigger than the average family car! It's a bugger to park and doesn't fit in any multistorey carpark but it is easy to drive and manoeuvre.

TwooooDoooozenRoses · 11/01/2026 20:18

I’ve a Volvo XC60, rather old now, and I’m just about to buy a 4/5 year old XC90. I absolutely adore my trusty XC60 but it’s getting to be a bit of an old dear and I need a bit more space as the kids get bigger! I love how safe and comfortable Volvos are, and so reliable! My old one has never missed a beat.
I also have a Toyota Hilux, very handy in its own way!
