Got the second cold virus since October, that was proper flu. I’m coughing loads and feeling sick and have a horrible taste in my mouth. But could do with eating. Unfortunately no Heinz tomato soup in the house

Whenever I feel ill, there are a few things that hit the spot.
Heinz tomato soup ( which sadly you don’t have OP)
and the most fake, overflavoured batchelors super noodles with grated cheese on top.
Toast and marmite
Toast with peanut butter
Hope you feel better soon

I’ve got a heavy cold right now. Over the course of today I’ve had yogurt with berries and honey, a green smoothie, oat cakes with cheese and grapes, bagel with marmite and a raspberry yogurt. I’ve been drinking lots of ginger tea with honey in it which soothes my throat.

Having toast with marmite….might have a second slice if it feels right…..

No tinned soup has nutritional value, as far as I know. It’s not recommended by NHS dieticians. Home made soup, not over cooked, is great. Also berries, nuts or seeds if you can cope with them. It’s probably best to get through your illness then think about improving your diet, rather than going too “pure”. Red lentils or pulses in soup add protein.

Thanks @Fernsrusbut my diet when not feeling ill is pretty good. There are a load of soups in the freezer, home made, home made stock, pulses and veg. I just can’t face much at the moment. Tomato soup is just a being ill comfort thing. There’s yoghurt and fruit and seeds in the fridge but don’t fancy it.

You can buy chicken noodle soup if you don't feel up to making it. When I was a child my mum would sort out chucky egg in a little cup if I wasn't well. I like tinned tomato soup as well.
