Can you help with London suggestions for daughters 21st?

Hi there

We are planning our daughter's 21st, thinking of a family trip to London. Mum, Dad & daughter. I'm looking for suggestions that may suit as I'm feeling very overwhelmed 😕

Daughter isn't really an instagrammable sort but does love a trend so 'cool' places.
She hates musicals so theatre probably wouldn't be a hit.
Not a foodie, she is a very simple eater.
Loves clothes and shopping but not really a markets sort, more high street with some funky indie/vintage thrown in.
Loves gaming (we've done escape rooms too many times to repeat)
'Nerdy' sort (we've done HP studios, Madame T previously) but also into hair, make up, clothes.
Possibly nice vibes for a drink or two but neither parent drinks alcohol so possibly not an 'out out' vibe.
She's quite introverted so wouldn't enjoy anything where she is thrown front and centre.

Thinking to get a Premier Inn as we don't think the budget being spent on nice hotels or fancy food will be appreciated. Thinking to make more of the activities and shopping element.

Any help would be hugely appreciated.

I think I read somewhere that the Pac Man retro immersive experience is coming to London in early 2026 so this might be cool if she’s into gaming? Think it’s currently on in Manchester

To be honest, I'd expect a 21 year old to prefer going with friends rather than parents - it all sounds very tame, and more suitable for a 9 year old. What if she wants to go clubbing?
And it would frankly be odd for a mature adult to be sharing a room with mum and dad!

But ask her what she wants to do. And don't discount a theatre trip - not everything is a musical, and there are always fantastic plays to choose from.

Miranda I think you are being a bit mean: two things can happen for a 21st! We spent the night as a family in a v luxurious London hotel for one of mine’s 21st. They also did things with friends.

OP if she is a Stranger Things fan I thoroughly recommend the stage play - gives a lot of context!

Clays is a good suggestion
Also look at bottomless brunches for good value. There’s plenty around Covent Garden and you can have virgin cocktails/mocktails instead of alcohol. It normally works out at great value.

Oh and take her to Selfridges for shopping!

A few more ideas.

shopping:

  • try the kings road and then pop up to Harvey Nichols for window shopping and afternoon tea
  • or try carnaby street and finish with tea and a makeup session at liberty’s
  • Camden market is worth a visit.

if the traitors experience or crystal maze experience are on, both are getting rave reviews.

Left field but London zoo? Or Kew Gardens?

what about Power Up at the science museum? - 160 gaming consoles to play on.

do you like stand up comedy or live music?
check out listings - loads of events to choose from

@London2026 Just re-read your op.
definitely book into power up if you’ve not been… it’s a gamer’s dream. Every gaming console ever including old skool arcade machines and the latest not on the market yet games.

Fairgame in Canary Wharf is really fun

There is also one in the city now. It's fairground style games with electronic scoring. It's good value, not too crowded and really fun. You do need to book in advance generally. Nice cocktails too!

Hence us leaving on a Tuesday, following her birthday weekend to ensure hangovers don't derail plans 😂

I'd suggest Spitalfields. It's got the market, but it's surrounded by lovely higher end shops, with loads of places to eat and drink. Won't be as hectic as Covent Garden. And it's right by Liverpool St so handy for moving elsewhere.

ManyPigeons · 05/01/2026 08:30

If she likes games and is a bit nerdy try Novelty Automation - it’s a little shop where the owner has built all his own games and things.

NQ64 is a cool, glowing arcade bar with cocktails

Immersive Gamebox in Southbank is cool too.

Spitalfields Market is good for food but also more vintage or Indy clothing.

Does she like books? Get her over to Daunt.

Theyre all a bit younger and cooler too.
