Planning ahead for the coming summer, we'll have overseas visitors who would love to explore our green and pleasant land!
So please can you tell me what you consider to be your must visit sites?

Leeds Castle has beautiful grounds and the castle is great. If there are children in the group, there is a fantastic playground and a maze. You can also do other activities there like go ape I think.

We thought it was a rip pff.

In addition to the castles and roman ruins, Northumberland also has the fabulous Cragside house.

I was blown away by Arundel Castle last year, really interesting. Nice gardens/grounds too.

i do love Chatsworth house too. Lincoln cathedral is probably my favourite cathedral and a bit hit with overseas visitors.

Excluding London

Edinburgh
Windsor Castle and grounds
Lake District
Bakewell

Bath Canterbury or York. Lots can be seen for free and have stately homes or ruins on the way. Isle of Wight has a bit of everything in a small area(join English Heritage) plus Portsmouth and Chichester nearby.

If they're an Evelyn Waugh fan or have read the book or seen the TV series (movie, too, I suppose) of Brideshead Revisited, then Castle Howard was a must see for me as an Australian. Didn't disappoint.

Places that are important to them from books, films, etc. For me that was Ludlow, Rye, places from All Creatures Great and Small. Wished I had a deeper look at Aberdeen since reading Stuart MacBride's books. Norah Lofts' East Anglia. Etc, etc.

I sound very tragic.

Bath, Avebury, Stonehenge, all can be combined with one night stay

@Tezza1 Stuart MacBride is pretty accurate in his use of locations around Aberdeen.
