A thought about Jeremy Bamber

Not sure what made me think of this. Hypothetically, if he were to be released in the future (unlikely but possible), would he able to live anywhere near the area he used to live? I assume they'd try to prevent it but could they enforce it?

He won't because he's guilty as sin.

But speaking hypothetically it would depend on his licence and parole conditions - they are set according to each prisoner and sometimes include residence and accommodation restrictions.

Thanks. I guess in his case they'd be pretty strict, and he might need a new identity as well.

Potentially, but as I say, I think it's highly unlikely.

SweatyGibbon · 27/12/2025 21:09

I agree, I don't really expect it to happen. And I do think he is guilty, with just a little bit of doubt.

Really weird thread. There's nothing new to suggest he's not guilty and if so, he should never be released

A life sentence for multiple murders should mean exactly that, you come out in a box

I'm not saying he must be released. I'm just speculating hypothetically.

Unless you're considered hot, then all the deluded ladies will protest your innocence for ever more. And probably send you lots of letters, sprayed with their perfume.

TheSpottedZebra · 27/12/2025 21:16

This will be the fate of poor, possibly innocent, Luigi Mangione Sad

SweatyGibbon · 27/12/2025 21:23

@TheSpottedZebra I didn't know Luigi's guilt was in question tbh

It isn't, I think it's sarcasm.

SweatyGibbon · 27/12/2025 21:29

My bad. I didn't realise the Spotted Zebra had posted the thing about hot suspects above.

OP posts:
MissAmbrosia · 27/12/2025 21:31

Doesn't he have a full life sentence? One of the few? I used to have doubts about his conviction, but I think the police mucked up the investigation which muddied the waters. Ultimately - his whole story was that his sister had committed the murders and forensics showed this was not possible, so....he won't be going anywhere soon.

PurpleSky300 · 27/12/2025 21:32

Won't happen and not worth debating or even thinking about.

I would rather debate whether Myra Hindley would ever have been released, and she's been dead 20-odd years. Bamber shares her traits of constant lying, roping in naive people to the 'cause', applying for parole or appealing over and over and over, etc.

Yes, there is @Pollqueen It’s been in various parts of the media for a while. The marvellous invention called Google is your new friend, have you heard about it?

The Jeremy Bamber twist: does Britain’s most notorious murderer finally have an alibi?

This week, audio footage was released by the New Yorker magazine, which seemed to exonerate Bamber, who has been in prison for 40 years. Could this lead to his release?

Arlanymor · 27/12/2025 21:34

There was a massive thread on Bamber on here not so long ago.

SweatyGibbon · 27/12/2025 21:40

@Arlanymor That thread is what prompted mine, plus the podcast I was listening to.

LizzieSiddal · 27/12/2025 21:42

My only thought about this person is what an evil monster he is and I have read a lot around this case. He will die in prison.

I heard that podcast too - I am always wary when it's clear who the journalist sides with from the first sentence!

Itsmetheflamingo · 27/12/2025 21:51

Sorry if I’m missing something obvious but why would it matter where he lived if he was released? He doesn’t have family left there

I would guess the locals wouldn't want him around (especially the ones old enough to remember the murders)

I think that goes for anywhere he may end up! It wasn’t particularly a community situation so I don’t see why the justice system would see that as particularly important tbh?

SweatyGibbon · 27/12/2025 21:56

I can see your point.

Agreed and there was another thread about him recently and they said they thought he was innocent. Very odd indeed. 🙄

Why do you think it wasn't a community thing? It really was. Have a google.

OP has said they are listening to the podcast now. I made the point earlier on about the other thread. People can listen to podcasts at different times.
