Best cheap Gatwick Hotel night before flight?

DS needs cheap hotel near Gatwick Airport. Just for 1 night due to early flight next day. No car so parking not required.

Any recommendations?

We stayed at a local premier inn, Balcombe road. But maybe not ideal if he doesn’t have a car or I’d book a taxi. Hotels within walking distance of the airport won’t be cheap.

TelephoneWires · 26/12/2025 20:40

The Yotel in the terminal - mostly for convenience as you can get cheaper. But for one person with no car it’s ideal and not much more than the others.

Our son stayed at the Hilton which is connected to the south terminal via a walkway , not the cheapest but it is very convenient .

I'd get one that's walking distance to the terminal. OH stayed in one with a "shuttle bus". When he went for it at 6am there was already a huge queue, bus arrived and was already pretty full. Several buses later he finally got to the terminal but missed his flight.

Premier inn Gatwick North terminal

RandomUsernameHere · 26/12/2025 21:05

Definitely Premier Inn, it’s so close.

gerispringer · 26/12/2025 21:05

Bloc hotel is right in the terminal. Quite often have offers.

Bloc hotel in the terminal

fashionqueen0123 · 26/12/2025 23:23

Premier inn. You just walk to the terminal

Clearinguptheclutter · 26/12/2025 23:25

It was ages ago but once stayed at a premier inn at gatwick which was sort of walkable to the terminal. When I say sort of we had to walk a short distance along a grassy verge, there was no path as such but I refused to pay for a taxi for about 300 yards! We only had light luggage though

Eggybreadwithnuts · 26/12/2025 23:26

He said he's flying from the North Terminal

The Premier Inn A23 Airport Way is often cheaper than the one at the actual terminal and an easy walk, just a few minutes further away. I’ve walked it on my own in the middle of the night and with a wheeled suitcase without any worries.

There is a little shuttle train which goes between the terminals so doesn’t matter too much which he’s flying from

NortyElf · 27/12/2025 00:08

They're full of migrants

Minniliscious · 27/12/2025 00:13

Premier inn at Gatwick. We stayed there for £80 which was worth it. Massively busy there though!

Lindy2 · 27/12/2025 00:22

We stayed at the Travel Lodge earlier in the year. It was newly refurbished, reasonably quiet and comfortable. There's a free shuttle bus every 15 minutes to both terminals.

I'd be happy to stay there again before a flight.

TommyAtkins · 27/12/2025 00:28

Premier inn - but make sure it’s the one at the north terminal. It’s about a 2 min walk to check in desk

dizzydizzydizzy · 27/12/2025 00:41

Premier Inn, Gatwick North. It is across the road from the north terminal. There is a monorail to the south terminal which takes about 2 minutes.

ncduetooutingsituation · 27/12/2025 00:43

Bloc Hotel is great. We got free priority security with our booking.

Not so. What is your source of this information? Airport hotels are big money spinners, earning big money from people flying in and flying out, including airline crew, they don’t have the capacity for migrants other than those staying as paying guests.

OP, Premier Inn Gatwick North is across the road from the north terminal, so an easy walk. As a PP mentioned, avoid shuttle buses if you can. You can wait up to an hour.

rookiemere · 27/12/2025 07:29

Premier Inn as everyone else has said, but make sure you’re at the one right at the terminal.

rookiemere · 27/12/2025 07:30

Oh there is a monorail between north and south terminal so it doesn’t matter if his flight is at the other terminal.

Agree with ^ and similar.

There's a (free, very frequent) shuttle monorail that runs between the two terminals.

TBF I suspect the poster is hinting at the Copthorne.

A long time back it used to get used a lot by passengers and airlines for crew but it's a short car ride away from the terminals so even if available it wouldn't fit the OPs requirements.

NellieJean · 27/12/2025 08:33

Bloc Hotel is in the Terminal right by security. We stayed before an early morning flight and it was great.
