Son may have been scammed

DS bought jewellery online for his girlfriend as a Christmas present. After a delay it appears to have been dispatched but Royal Mail are saying they are expecting the parcel but no other updates. According to chatgpt the company is legit but only been operating a few months. They have no social media which is worrying. They do respond to emails very promptly though.

I'm feeling stressed on DS behalf. He paid with Apple pay. Is he covered if it's a scam?

He may be covered by chargeback if the goods aren't delivered. It sounds like you need to give it some time though.

chickenfucker · 23/12/2025 19:02

I'd be more inclined to think the issue is with RM

Lostsoultrip · 23/12/2025 19:04

Probably not a scam. Probably just a new company struggling to cope with the busy Xmas rush.

Why are you asking a Large Language Model whether a company is legit?

What is the company name/ website?

amber763 · 23/12/2025 19:07

When did he buy it? I'd imagine it's just the post being a bit rubbish

WonderfulSmith · 23/12/2025 19:08

Chat GTP doesn’t know shit. Don’t ask it anything about anything.

Fdupifanxiety · 23/12/2025 19:26

Also only 3 reviews on Trust pilot (4 stars).

Actually I do know shit, it is a rather unpleasant word for the bodily waste product.
Fortunately I do not have to perform this task.

NotForTheMoneyandNotForTheApplause · 23/12/2025 19:51

What's the name of it? And why would you think chatgpt would have the first clue about whether its legit?

PinkFrogss · 23/12/2025 19:54

Well checking with ChatGPT was a waste of water.

Look at their social media comments, are other people complaining? Do they have any posts they’re tagged in by customers who have received their product?

2dogsandabudgie · 23/12/2025 19:59

How long ago did he purchase it? If it was more than 2 weeks ago then that is more concern to worry than a few days ago. Did he check the delivery by date?

They have no social media.

Do they have a physical contact address in the UK?

Just post the name/ web address.
Lack of reviews/ not any history would be concerning and wouldn't be somewhere I'd buy jewellery from.

🤣🤣

It sounds more like a postal issue OP. It doesn’t necessarily sound as if there’s any reason to think it’s scam. The company has generated a tracking number, but somewhere between this and the item being received by Royal Mail, something has happened. I would continue to chase the company, because even if it is Royal Mail’s fault, it is up to the vendor to investigate.

Bobiverse · 23/12/2025 20:24

If Royal Mail tracking says they are expecting the parcel, then it means the seller has purchased the postage online and Royal Mail are waiting for it to be dropped off or to collect it from them.
You just need to wait for it to go through the postal system. It won’t be here before Christmas.

They have no social media.

That is quite a red flag, I think your son needs to prepare for a fight to get his money back

mydogisanidiott · 23/12/2025 20:34

Which company?

PinkFrogss · 23/12/2025 20:34

Fdupifanxiety · 23/12/2025 20:09

They have no social media.

Definitely concerning.

How did your son come across them?

Lennonjingles · 23/12/2025 20:37

My regular subscription order should have been delivered on Friday, but it came today, just pure volume of mail needing delivering.

P00hsticks · 23/12/2025 20:41

If RM only say that they're expecting it, then I think that means that the company have bought the postage label online but not actually handed the package over to RM yet.

bignewprinz · 23/12/2025 20:49

Hello OP. Retailer here.

Business RM parcel post works a bit differently. You create a label and add it to a manifest with all your other daily parcels. You put all parcels in a sealed RM sack. RM send a postie daily to collect. The sack makes its way to your local delivery office, and from there to the regional mail centre. It is only once in the regional mail centre that the sack gets opened and the parcel gets its first scan. It's a system that causes so much anxiety with customers when there are bottlenecks.

If the jewellery has been sent tracked 24/48, at very busy times of year, it can take several days sometimes for sacks to be opened and scanned. Worst I ever experienced was 4 days. All those days parcel tracking just states 'we are expecting your item'.

You'll have no issues getting the money back via your son's card issuer if it doesn't get to you in the end, but you do need to give the retailer a reasonable amount of time to deliver (most card issuers say 30 days). The retailer cannot really challenge a chargeback without tracked delivery.

I am a retailer turning over very large sums with no active social media, so don't read too much into that. I hate SM and generally think customer interactions on social media are awful, so don't do it. The fact they are responding promptly to emails is also a green flag.

Hopefully it arrives, probably after Christmas now though by the sounds of things.

Fdupifanxiety · 23/12/2025 21:30

Navalli.com

Fingers crossed it arrives, although too late for Christmas.😥

That looks dodgy unfortunately

EuroTour · 23/12/2025 21:46

That looks dodgy - their address is an office - probably used as a front. Their returns policy looks like a Chinese scam site unfortunately

ItsDarkNow · 23/12/2025 21:48

Scam.
