Son may have been scammed

DS bought jewellery online for his girlfriend as a Christmas present. After a delay it appears to have been dispatched but Royal Mail are saying they are expecting the parcel but no other updates. According to chatgpt the company is legit but only been operating a few months. They have no social media which is worrying. They do respond to emails very promptly though.

I'm feeling stressed on DS behalf. He paid with Apple pay. Is he covered if it's a scam?

Definitely a scam, how did your son find them?

ActiveTiger · 23/12/2025 21:52

Royal Mail are crap I've been waiting for a parcel for over 3 weeks that had next day delivery but they brought it this morning wasn't the sellers fault

bignewprinz · 23/12/2025 22:06

It does look like a drop shipping business at a guess (which not necessarily a problem).

It is using a virtual office address. Not unusual.

It is using Shopify. That is reassuring. Shopify actively kick bad retailers off and have a low chargeback tolerance.

Your son probably found them via Google ads, they are running those.

Google have told me the company behind the business. You can find it too via Google's transparency centre.

It is a Ltd Co registered at Companies House. One single director.

I think your son's jewellery will turn up 👍 but if it doesn't, he will get his money back.

When the company finds this post - please do publish your legal info on your website, will make you seem much more trustworthy :)

I think it will turn up eventually but as PP say it’s a Chinese drop shipping company. Why does a company allegedly based in London need so long to ship UK orders?

From their website:

How long does shipping take?
Most orders dispatch in 1-2 business days. Typical delivery windows:
United Kingdom:

  • Transit time: 6 to 9 business days (Monday to Friday).
  • Estimated delivery time: / to 11
business days.

Whether the product is any good remains to be seen. And good luck if he needs to return it!

Had exactly this with trainers bought on Amazon. Allegedly delivery through Royal Mail. Didn’t arrive and tracking no didn’t work. No response from seller. Amazon have said they’ll refund. Sorry but I think it’s a scam.

I agree with this. They're a drop shipping company.

If Royal Mail are 'expecting' the parcel then I would say that hasn't arrived into the country yet and been passed to them for delivery.

I would agree that Shopify is a good indication of a legitimate company, alongside being able to pay via Klarna.

MrsCarson · 24/12/2025 08:51

I had a parcel that was being tracked with Royal Mail It also showed they were expecting it for a week then it turned up at the door and the tracking updated after it was delivered. I thought I'd never see it.

Maddy70 · 24/12/2025 08:52

I'm having the same issue. I think I've been scammed too

bignewprinz · 24/12/2025 08:54

@Maddy70 same company, or different?

Flowerslamp · 24/12/2025 08:54

When did he order it? It sounds like a useless man left it too late tale to me 🤣

Owly11 · 24/12/2025 09:01

Just looked at the website and there is a spelling mistake on the home page - it says 'desigend' instead of 'designed'. Not a particularly good sign but fingers crossed for you. If royal mail have the parcel then presumably it will arrive eventually.

I learned many years ago that in order to have a peaceful Christmas, I needed to cut off ordering at a set point in December. My point was last week. Otherwise you'll have people (men) ordering at the 11th hour, ignoring delivery timescales clearly stated, and repeatedly emailing aghast that their parcel has not arrived.

For a retailer relying on international post, Christmas must be hell. Not a business model I would adopt.

OP - please do update this thread when the item arrives (or not), as you've named the website, I think that would be fair.

Leavmealone · 24/12/2025 09:27

I sent a card and gift to DD via Moonpig 2 weeks ago. It is a 24 hour tracked delivery that was due to arrive on the 14th, except it hasn't because according to the RM tracker, it's been at the Jubilee mail centre in London since the 14th. So whilst it may be a scam it's also perfectly possible that the RM have it and just cba to do their job.

Fdupifanxiety · 24/12/2025 09:42

He ordered at beginning of December. I agree they are a drop shipping company. They do respond very quickly to emails though. I emailed them last night and got this today

I can confirm that the parcel was dispatched to Royal Mail on December 20th. This means the label was created and the parcel was prepared to be sent to them. It was sent via Tracked 48, which means that once the parcel gets the first scan by Royal Mail, it will be delivered within 48 hours.
I know this is taking longer than expected, and I'm genuinely sorry, the festive season has been incredibly busy, causing some extra delays in scanning and transit.

Ok, so not a dropshipper. If it's been sent Tracked 48, it was dispatched within the UK.

What's more likely is the retailer ordered the item in from the manufacturer (overseas) when they got the order from your son, which accounts for the initial delay.

That's a solid reply 👍 Back to my original response, sat in an unopened sack in a RM mail centre. Frustrating.

If this is lost, I am sure you will not need the chargeback route and can get a refund direct from the retailer. They then claim off RM.

Thank you. I think it will turn up but after Christmas. Will update if it does. Luckily he's bought her a few other bits but I do feel for him🥲

I had someone in the next town to me post something via Royal Mail 48 last week. It went to the sorting office in a third town and I got an email saying it had gone there. Then it went to another sorting office in completely the wrong part of the country. Finally I got it about 4 days after it had been posted.

GAJLY · 24/12/2025 10:20

If Royal mail say they're expecting a parcel from them, then it must be coming. As the company have created a delivery label. Scammers wouldn't do this. I'd wait for an update from Royal Mail.

Shadesofscarlett · 24/12/2025 12:51

prob being shipped to UK from China then RM do the last part of the delivery.
