How do I get rid of this verucca - warning, picture included

GizmoIsSoFluffy · 21/12/2025 20:20

Can anyone help me with suggestions on how I can get rid of my verucca. It's starting to hurt when I walk.

I've tried bazooka, extra strong bazooka, banana skin, filing, plucking. But after many years, it's still there.

Getting desperate, any advice on how to get rid of big, nasty, old veruccas will be much appreciated. __

Go to a private podiatrist.

PoppySaidYesIKnow · 21/12/2025 20:24

A chiropodist will be able to treat.

Go to a private podiatrist.

This is the only thing which shifted a verruca I'd had for about 10 years.

Decoding21 · 21/12/2025 20:25

Podiatrist as advised above

PInkyStarfish · 21/12/2025 20:27

Needle and thread. Sterilise the needle and go under it from east to west and leave a long tail of thread. Then leaving a long piece of thread and go under from north to south.

Gather all the four pieces of thread together and tank as hard as you can and it will break up the verruca and split it into four. It will hurt momentarily and there will be blood.

on e it’s split up like that you can use tweezers to further pull out pieces of it and should be able to get it all out or at least the bulk of it. You can use curved nail scissors as well to help snip bits out. You can sterilise them first.

Blot until has stopped bleeding and preferably keep it uncovered for as long as you can go let the air get to it but put a plaster over it when walking and wear a cotton sock at night.

It will be sore for a couple of days but will then heal.

Whizzywhisk · 21/12/2025 20:27

Have you tried the gaffer tape thing? My dads chiropodist even suggested this off the record - it does work

MovedlikeHarlowinMonteCarlo · 21/12/2025 20:27

Have you tried clear nail varnish?

whistleinthewind · 21/12/2025 20:27

Dry needling via a podiatrist is the only thing that got rid of mine once it reached that stage

CatAsstrophe · 21/12/2025 20:30

Private podiatrist.

I had three on one foot and one on another in my late teens and tried everything to get rid of it. Literally all the things. I eventually heard about advanced electrolysis and found a place near me that did it. It scabbed over after it but didn’t immediately leave so I didn’t think it had worked then about a month later it was gone! About 10 years later I got another tiny one and thought I want to treat this before I end up with multiple so went straight for the advanced electrolysis but at a different salon. I remembered it being painful so really geared myself up for it but oh my god! Genuinely the sorest thing I’ve ever experienced. It felt like a hot poker burning deep inside my foot. So so sore! I came out horrified that I thought that was remotely okay last time 😆 And the worst of it is it hasn’t worked this time bizarrely. I think your immune system needs to be strong enough to clear it and mine obviously isn’t. The lady said occasionally they need a second treatment 3 months later and she’d do it for free but I haven’t been back 😅

DinoLil · 21/12/2025 20:59

Sounds odd but I had a several on my feet, my hands, my knees! I tried everything. They were there for about 4yrs.

Anyway, I woke up one day and whoosh! They had all vanished without a trace. Not a mark left behind and I still can't work it out.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 21/12/2025 21:00

Get yourself a callous shaver and some salicylic acid.

Soak your foot, then shave off as much as you can. Then treat what is left with the acid and cover it with a plaster.

Repeat this every day until it goes. It may take a few weeks, but it will go.

I want to do this to that verruca for you OP……. Where do you live, I’ll be round with a needle and thread shortly…..

(yes, I’m a scab picker and I’m not even sorry 😂)

itbemay1 · 21/12/2025 21:07

Duct tape. Make sure area is clean and dry. Put tape on and just leave it. Replace it when it’s not stuck anymore fully. It’ll take a few weeks but it should work. Or religiously apply bazooka, leave 24h file it off quite robustly, reapply and repeat - this can also take weeks and be painful. Easiest option is a podiatrist

MonGrainDeSel · 21/12/2025 21:09

These things are great: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Dr-Scholls-Freeze-Verruca-Remover/dp/B0DQL6JGNL/

Julen7 · 21/12/2025 21:11

Would try podiatrist. Daughter had one like this that became painful to walk on and we tried all kind of (not cheap) OTC stuff that didn’t work. Podiatrist nailed it in one visit so I wish we had done this first.

BratPitt · 21/12/2025 21:14

We spent nearly a grand on a couple of courses of Swift verruca treatments (microwave) at a private chiropodist, it did absolutely nothing, and was apparently quite painful (according to DS). We then started the zinc tape method back in September and all the verrucas were gone by the end of November. I'd definitely recommend trying that first of all before shelling out on any expensive treatments.
Strangely enough, it was the private chiropodist who recommended trying this method....after he'd taken our money for the Swift treatment!

ohpiggy · 21/12/2025 21:16

I had mine frozen at the GP. It then almost fell out and left a satisfying hole

WildCountry · 21/12/2025 21:17

Salactol is pretty good, alongside picking at it.

Fuck me, you are rock hard!

1457bloom · 21/12/2025 21:25

Try the stuff from the chemist for a couple of months, if that doesn’t work, go to a podiatrist and get it frozen off. Don’t ignore it, they can spread and then you have a bigger problem!

Theoldwrinkley · 21/12/2025 21:25

Advised by a NHS podiatrist to cover with duck tape. It has to be duck tape (not any look-alike brand) and if takes time (6+ months) but it worked for my son. Replacd with new tape every couple of days.

I had similar, I got one in my teens that just wouldn't shift, and gradually multiplied until I had about 20 all over one big toe. It got to the point I'd just given up trying to get rid of them, then one day in my mid 20's, they all disappeared.

the80sweregreat · 21/12/2025 21:45

I had one frozen off my foot in the early 80s and it never returned. The clinician had a big cauldron of this substance that looked like ice on fire.
might be a good idea to visit a podiatrist.
