Hotel rooms with 2 Teens?

workingcocker · 20/12/2025 09:53

I only have one child (15). When we go on holiday we normally go self catering or have a suite with a sofa bed.

In Summer we are taking her best friend with us.

If you have 2 older teens do they all go in a room with you or are they allowed to have their own room?

They are confident and well behaved so I have no issue with it.

I’d go for two interconnected rooms at that age.

SilverPink · 20/12/2025 09:55

Mine would always have their own room but you might need to check with the hotel that they allow under 18s to be by themselves.

sundayvibeswig22 · 20/12/2025 10:08

I’d book an apartment with two bedrooms.

I’d book an apartment with two bedrooms.

The thing is that we want to go all inclusive. Most of the hotels only have a maximum of 3 people per room.

Ah you have a partner too.

At that age we either got an aparthotel (they do exist in AI, it's just they are not very easy to search for on the websites) or 2 interconnecting rooms.

IceIceSlippyIce · 20/12/2025 10:17

I dont think you can share a sleeping space with an unrelated teen you don't usually live with.

So, I'd say you need a mini suite - so the sofa bed is in the livingroom, interconnected rooms, or a 2 bed apartment.

Fwiw, we don't share with our teens for more than 1 night. Noone sleeps well with 4 of us in a room

workingcocker · 20/12/2025 18:52

bump for the evening crowd …

I do this a lot. Two separate rooms rather than a two room apartment.

Firstly this will mean two bathrooms which is important with teens (especially unrelated ones)

It also gives that extra privacy and downtime space (again more important when taking a friend)

I always email in advance and request rooms next to each other.

TeenToTwenties · 20/12/2025 18:58

2 rooms

Changingplace · 20/12/2025 18:59

Ask for interconnected rooms, you & your partner have a double the teens have a twin.

Most hotels have rooms like this, you just need to request it.

TartanMammy · 20/12/2025 19:06

We can't share a room as a family, it just doesn't work and nobody sleeps. Also taking an unrelated teen they will need some privacy.

We always book interconnected rooms, or a 2 bed apartment or partitioned bedroom. We also go all inclusive and it's never been a problem.

If you can tell us your destination maybe someone can help with hotels that offer that kind of room.

WanderlustMom · 20/12/2025 19:08

Two rooms but connecting is your best bet.

TartanMammy · 20/12/2025 19:14

Here's a couple of examples of room floor plans we've had.

If there are 2 adults book 2 rooms and say 1 adult/child per room if age is an issue.

MustDust · 20/12/2025 20:29

Never shared a room with the children on hols, always had 2 room apartment - better still if 2 bedrooms, even when AI. Where are you going?

On an AI holiday?

Comedycook · 20/12/2025 21:01

We went to an all inclusive which had one bed apartments...so effectively two bedrooms...the "living room" had two single beds in it.

Yes! We always get these rooms types and always all inclusive. We've been to Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Fuertaventa, Zante, Corfu, Crete and Majorca.

These particular room floor plans are from Stella Palace in Crete and Sentido Apollo Palace in Corfu.

The floor plans aren't always on the websites but of you look at TripAdvisor or the hotel Facebook groups then you can often see the room layouts. They are sometimes described as 'two bed apartment' or 'superiod suite' .

I'm impressed, we can never find two bedrooms with two toilets.

Usually you would have to upgrade to one of the best rooms types for two bathrooms. I have found more modern or refurbed hotels it's easier to find and it seems to be becoming the norm in Greece, 5 star family resorts (which is 4 star by British standards). Less likely to get two bathrooms in the canaries, but it's still possible.

If you have 2 older teens do they all go in a room with you or are they allowed to have their own room?

Just ask the hotel OP.

Here, no-one has a clue about hotels in Europe.

Mydadsbirthday · 21/12/2025 00:08

Two hotel rooms since they turned 13 - boy / girl twins, they're happy to share.

I have tried but it’s not turning out to be very easy.

Also considering that most families have more than one child I thought this the bet place to ask.

2 rooms is totally fine, they’re not babies and they don’t need to be connecting

SwanSong30 · 21/12/2025 20:13

we went on holiday abroad with DS15 and his best friend. We booked a 2 bed villa. DH and I in one room and DS and his friend in the other.
