Hotel rooms with 2 Teens?

I only have one child (15). When we go on holiday we normally go self catering or have a suite with a sofa bed.

In Summer we are taking her best friend with us.

If you have 2 older teens do they all go in a room with you or are they allowed to have their own room?

They are confident and well behaved so I have no issue with it.

It's fairly common for holiday websites and hotel T&C's to say every room needs an adult. As @Pedallleur said, I think a lot of families get round this by booking the rooms with one adult in each room, then quietly put the teens in together in practice. Hotels turn a blind eye as long as they have an adult named in each room. Your decision whether you are comfortable with this, or whether you keep looking for apartments.

When we have had an apartment or connecting rooms it's usually been in a normal hotel that has a wing of these different rooms, not a dedicated aparthotel. We found a hotel we liked and buried into the rooms they have available to find these options. But it's not super easy. It might be worth asking a travel agent, they should do the legwork for you.

we went on holiday abroad with DS15 and his best friend. We booked a 2 bed villa. DH and I in one room and DS and his friend in the other.

Where was the villa?

2 rooms, you may need to list an adult in each room but nobody checks the sleeping arrangements

We stayed in Tenerife, just outside playa de las americas. It was our if the hustle and bustle but only a short taxi ride away to the bigger resorts.

Just realised how many typos there were in my reply 🙈 *out of the hustle and bustle

I book interconnecting where possible. We went to a UK city in oct half term and my husband and I wanted a room with a view, so booked 2 different rooms but asked for them to be on the same floor. The 2 teens (13 & 15) had a twin room just across the corridor and we had a double room with a view. I think I did put the 15 year old down as an adult but the chain classes anyone over 12 as an adult! As we were in the UK we didn’t need passports to check in so it wasn’t queried.

If there are 2 adults book 2 rooms and say 1 adult/child per room if age is an issue.

This is what we do book two rooms with one adult and one teen in each room. Ask for them to be beside each other and then the two teens go in one and we go in the other. I would honestly rather stay at home than share a hotel room and one bathroom with two teens.

Thanks all, this is exactly what I have done.

You could just say there is one parent in each room with a child each when u book or get interconnecting rooms

HeddaGarbled · 23/02/2026 23:43

Pretend you’re going to be one adult, one teenager per room, then don’t.

ImDoneOnceAndForAll2 · 26/02/2026 14:41

I wouldnt let two 15 year old girls have their own room in a foreign country.
Way to dangerous

CatherinedeBourgh · 26/02/2026 14:48

Mine had their own room.

Yup they might run away to join the circus

gogomomo2 · 26/02/2026 15:12

Separate rooms from about 12 in my case, as long as there’s 2 adults i never had it queried

Iv stayed in plenty of all includive holiday resorts around the world. From 3 star to 5 star and i would not trust two teenagers in a hotel room alone
The locks on the doors and windows are not always secure

The alternative is to let your 15 year old girl sleep in a room where her friend’s dad/ step dad is also sleeping.
