In the first year, so a long long time ago our local pharmacy team won the jackpot. Most of the staff retired but the pharmacist bought the business. He was a lovely guy.

Also just remembered I was in a work syndicate that won £20k. We got £1000 each.

I knew someone in the 90s who won over 3 million. I remember it very clearly, it was over the August Bank Holiday. She started a new job on the Tuesday as a receptionist, and at lunchtime went and got the win verified with Camelot so went back to the office and resigned! She was so lovely , she said she was happy to stay until the company got a replacement as she didn’t want to let them down!

Nope! Never won anything myself & don't know anyone who has. Feel a bit cheated now! ;-)

I have a client who won a couple of mil on a scratch card. I am horrifically jealous.

My in-laws won the pools back in the day. He was in a syndicate at work. It enabled him to make a house move to the next size up a lot sooner than he would have done otherwise.

More that 30 years ago a friend's daughter bought a ticket in the shop where she was working during the Easter holidays and won about £2 million.

She took advice and claimed it as a syndicate with her parents. They gave money to nieces and nephews, she gave money to her own siblings. She bought a house near the university, which she shared with other students for her next two years. She didn't keep her win private, and had one big evening in the village pub to celebrate, and sponsored the local sports team for several years.

Oh, and two months after the win, got honours in all her end of year exams.

That tide raised a lot of boats - no huge wealthy lifestyle, a lot of security from anxiety.

I once won a heifer (!)
I was in the young farmers and lived on a farm, and won her when I was 14 at the local agricultural show. She was worth about 1000 pounds at the time so not a bad win. We kept her for 8 years and she had a calf every year.

My Dad's friend phoned one Saturday night/early Sunday morning absolutely bladdered saying he had won £970,000.
This was about 1996.
My Dad was like yep sure sure.

Next day he phoned him back and it was true. It was 5 numbers and the bonus ball.

He worked with my Dad and went on to set up his own company.
He asked Dad to go with him, but as my Mum is disabled Dad didn't think he could take the risk.

Its a multi million pound very big operation now and my Dad sorely regrets his decision.

But they are still great friends and it honestly couldn't have happened to a nicer person.

Then in 2013 my friend won 5 numbers and the bonus ball. She was heavily pregnant with her 3rd child.

Working overtime as a nurse as her husband has just been made redundant. Their car had broken down and wasnt repairable

She was walking to and from work up and down a steep hill. It snowed here that year well into April

They had forgotten that the lottery was even coming out as a DD or it would have been cancelled.

They were so so excited
It was £1,200 - for 5 numbers and a bonus ball! I felt so sorry for them.
Luckily her husband got a new job very quickly and they were able to afford everything soo .
