Cupboard under the stairs too, when the mop head is dry. It languishes propped up in the utility room whilst it dries.

WildestDreamer · 30/11/2025 09:36

It’s hung outside the back door in our little ‘porch’/covered area.

TheChosenTwo · 30/11/2025 09:37

I don’t own one!

Heyhelga · 30/11/2025 09:39

To be honest I don't dry the mop head out no. Are we supposed to?

Giggorata · 30/11/2025 09:39

Indoor mop = cupboard under stairs, along with hoover, broom, etc.
Outdoor mop (kennel, boiler room, outside loo) = in outside loo

ViciousCurrentBun · 30/11/2025 09:41

DH designed our kitchen and it has a cupboard with no lip on the floor so the hoover can be rolled in and not picked up. The mop hangs on the inside of this door once dried. We don’t mop often though it’s more spot cleaning spills and as a shoes off house it doesn’t get dirty that quickly.

CarrierbagsAndPJs · 30/11/2025 09:44

Ive had this row with my mum. She kept putting mine outside. With animals and rain water. Our mop now has washable cloths at the bottom so it is kept in the utility room and the mop bit washed after use.

I have a dry mop ie using a damp cloth at the end of a stick, so indoors on the kitchen wall

BoxingHares22 · 30/11/2025 09:46

I always put the mop in the bucket and keep both in the cupboard where the boiler is.

Justputsomeyoghurtonit · 30/11/2025 09:48

Every now and then I throw the mop head in the washing machine, it's a classic string mop.

Otherwise I leave it in the utility where it dries off eventually.

DilemmaDelilah · 30/11/2025 10:24

I don't have a mop. We have one of those electric floor cleaners with rollers and that lives in a kitchen cupboard, the rollers get washed after every use and dried on the warm kitchen floor (underfloor heating) in a corner out of the way. For instant cleaning up of spills we use a J cloth and water in the sink.

Alwayswonderedwhy · 30/11/2025 10:27

In the downstairs loo/under the stairs.

SusanSocks · 30/11/2025 10:28

i could try the downstairs loo i guess
thing is if it is sitting there wet it will soak the floor and dh will complain,
no room for the bucket in their as well

My mop comes with pads that are removable so they get bunged in the washing machine and I dismantle the handle of the mop which fits in the bucket and it's in a corner of my kitchen.

blankittyblank · 30/11/2025 10:33

I just put my wet (but wringed dry) mop into the bit of the bucket you squeeze it out in. Then it dries but if it drips, then does so in the bucket.

Knittedfairies2 · 30/11/2025 10:34

In the garage.

This.👍
Mop head does not have to stay attached to the handle while it is drying.

In the summer, the head will go outside to dry.

SausageRoll2020 · 30/11/2025 10:38

In the hall cupboard.
If I had a utility room I'd keep it in there.
The garden seems a very strange choice, as it's likely to get dirty outside and it's use is to clean floors.

Tdcp · 30/11/2025 10:39

In the garden, though I've just bought a cheap (£24) steam mop so I can get rid of it altogether.

it is upright in the garden
fine in the summer
less fine in the rainy weather
