Do you know anyone who has just disappeared?

I was reading about missing cases and I was surprised by how many people simply vanish, never to be seen again.
I don’t know of anyone personally who has just disappeared, but many years ago before my Dad retired, he had a work colleague, who was in his late 50’s, he left his work place and he’s believed to have never made it home. He simply just vanished, his family spent months trying to find him, there were no letters, or clues to his whereabouts and as far as I know, still remains missing to this day.

I don't think that I know anyone who has disappeared and never been found, but there's one on our family tree. He just vanished, and was believed to have boarded a ship bound for abroad. Unfortunately, at the time, they just listed passengers by "Initial + surname"... and there were several that matched his. If it had been his forename, he'd have been found in no time. It seems ironic that his first name was Farewell...

Yes. Blindsided. I only met him a few times, but he was such a lovely and colourful character, and so sweet to me (a much older, straight woman) I thought of him like a butterfly, with his gorgeous kimonos and the colourful fans he always had. I was so so shocked to see posters / social media that he had 'disappeared (and in this culture that is shorthand for murdered) This city is not intolerant to LGBT + AT ALL - on the surface. But also a very macho culture traditionally. I can't bear to think...his poor family. But maybe he did just take off ? (Unlikely)

My ex

He was a cocklodger a tosser but I was blind to his faults as I really loved him

He'd been shagging my best friend while I was pregnant and when he was 5 months old, they beat me up and ran off together

A few weeks later, they accidentally burnt her house down and they broke up (amazing how amazing sex can die off when faced with real life problems)

He dragged me through the courts (just because he wanted to hurt me via our child and because she wanted to play mummy with my baby)

He got bored not long after hed got contact (shed long gone and wasnt playing mummy/nanny anymore) and fucked off-we didnt hear a thing from him

He was the sort of bloke where you'd say 'see you friday' and he'd vanish for 18 months, then he'd pop back up acting like he'd seen you the week before

He popped back up when the baby was 9 years old (hoping for a bed, money and a shag) hung around for a few weeks and came to see our child late one Thursday evening

He said goodbye, walked to the end of our street, stopped to wave and vanished into thin air

Our child is now 19 and hasn't heard a thing from him since

He'll be lurking somewhere and I dont really care

He owes me thousands in child support-could afford to sent money to sex workers/scam artists but not for his own flesh and blood

Someone I went to school with disappeared abroad. He was working there and was in regular contact with his family until he wasn't anymore. It's been almost 20 years now since he went missing and there has been nothing to go on. The local police didnt really do anything to look for him according to the family, they hired private investigators etc but nothing has ever come of it. The family think he must have died but he really just vanished without a trace. His face pops up in the news every few years when his family do appeals, his mum died a few years ago never knowing what happened to him. Very sad for the family with an extra layer of difficulty as it happened abroad.
