I learnt what the hell Cloudfare was.

I also made a chia seed and almond flour omelette.

My colleagues at work spent the morning fielding a lot of phone calls from customers wanting to place orders, and our marketing guy was in contact with our website techy types who were tearing their hair out.

I just got on with the bits of my work that doesn't use cloudflare - most of it, actually. Home now, so fingers crossed it will be all sorted out when I'm next in.

Proudsaver · 18/11/2025 15:04

Initially I panicked that M&S had been hacked again.

Then I pulled myself together and got on with some housework.

Natsku · 18/11/2025 15:06

I watched glue pour very slowly from a barrel into a tin. It was not very entertaining.

StillFeelingTired · 18/11/2025 15:07

Called my best friend and planned Boxing Day lunch

eta… like called her on the actual phone.

BedlingtonLint · 18/11/2025 15:09

Batch-cooked healthy soups and dinners for the next week.

ChocolateCinderToffee · 18/11/2025 15:13

Wasn’t affected by it. I think I was cleaning the kitchen.

snowlaser · 18/11/2025 15:15

I was at work. Didn't it only last a few hours? Why is this even worth talking about?!

Justputsomeyoghurtonit · 18/11/2025 12:35

Hung fairy lights around my kitchen. They still have last years dust and cobwebs on them though.

Adds character.

Agapornis · 18/11/2025 15:20

Got the garden ready for the first frost of the year. Moved some succulents inside, picked the last chillies and tomatoes.

mateysmum · 18/11/2025 12:36

Had a lunch of home made bread and hummus

Same! 😃With home-made chilli sauce.

Ambridgefan · 18/11/2025 15:23

Tried and failed to join a zoom meeting.
Heard the term cloudflame for the first time. I still have no idea what it is though

DeanElderberry · 18/11/2025 15:25

Planted 20 just-purchased half-price hyacinth bulbs in the garden.

VimesandhisCardboardBoots · 18/11/2025 15:25

I sat in a pub, and read my book, and didn't realise it was even happening.

I am the most "on the internet" person you can imagine. I'm a bloody web developer! I spend more time looking at computer screens and my phone than I do looking at the rest of the world. And yet today I have a day off, and also had the last 100 pages of a spectacular 9 books series to finish, so secluded myself in a quiet pub with a beer and lunch, and completely missed the biggest internet outage in ages.

Book was bloody brilliant!

AllTheChaos · 18/11/2025 15:26

Cleaned the kitchen windowsill - I’ve been meaning to for at least 6 months 😂 Finally got round to bringing the bags of charity shop things down from the landing (their home of about 2 months) to by the front door, in the hope that they will annoy me enough to make me take them to the charity shop. I give it till mid December when I will start panickedly Christmas shopping and realise I have to get rid of them to make room.

I am not very productive these days, but the outage helped me use today’s energy for something other than cooking / helping DC with homework. Um, yay?!

Genuine question... How exactly did you learn what Cloudflare was during the outage?
Everything I tried to look at was unreachable so I picked up a book I started a few weeks ago and read another 50 pages or so.

The error message said it was a 500 Cloudflare error (or something) and I stuck it in Google.

Well it's made the main news channels so clearly there has been a big impact.

Lunalara · 18/11/2025 15:30

I was working, so didn’t realise that it happened until later.

The Independent online was updating regularly.

I had two Zoom calls and it didn't affect either of them.

And wasted time on the phone to a well-known hotel chain trying to sort out last-minute amendments to a group booking for tonight and tomorrow, as a colleague is unwell today. Conclusion: things were much better when you could contact the hotel directly. What an absolute load of bollocks the 'central number' system is...

... but as a result of that I will be taking myself to the pub for tea as I have very much earned it today.

GarlicHound · 18/11/2025 15:31

Watched stuff on Prime, as I knew Amazon uses its own service. Interspersed that with absent-mindedly coming here and feeling disproportionately let down by MN's absence. Checked whether I've now got all the Christmas cake ingredients. As I know you're interested 😂 I can't find the glace cherries, but think they must still be in an unopened package, and the icing I bought is in tiny packs so I need more. My gold & silver sugar stars are fantastic, though, I'm thrilled I won't have to make any this year.

Fair enough. I obviously gave up on the whole thing a bit soon after trying several MN and Quora pages.
On the other hand I shall probably now finish the book, which would be a good thing.

Legomania · 18/11/2025 15:34

My job

HelpMeGetThrough · 18/11/2025 15:34

I sent a Teams message out to the team saying:

”No customer environments available at the moment, Cloudflares fucked”.

Then made a cup of tea.

TorroFerney · 18/11/2025 15:35

Tried to go on the specsavers website which was also playing up.

RampantIvy · 18/11/2025 15:35

Saved all my work into folders on my desktop to upload tomorrow.
