Well done Sara Cox and all the CIN walkers

Amazing effort from Sara Cox and all Children In Need walkers this year. Lindsay Burrow has carried on Rob’s legacy in fundraising with a ‘three-legged’ walk (tied together with a Look North presenter) across Yorkshire. Many more have done other impressive things (that I couldn’t do). I think they’re amazing.

Fuck me there are some miserable fuckers around. Who cares if these celebs do it to be praised or whatever else, the fact remains that the money has been raised and that’s a good thing. Without Sara doing what she did, charities would have 9 million less, so good on her for doing it, whatever her reasons and whether you personally donates or not!

💯 It really is that simple, isn’t it?
Well, for most of us anyway!

Sara has done a fantastic job. We should all applaud her. What a woman. I couldn't do what she has done

DanceMumTaxi · 14/11/2025 23:11

No good deed goes unpunished, eh. I’ve been following her progress all week on radio 2 and online and I think she’s an absolute inspiration. It’s been so tough and she’s really had to dig deep to get to the end. The pain she’s been in, but she’s carried on. I donated, she’s done a wonderful thing for a very worthy cause.

GingerPaste · 14/11/2025 23:12

Well done, Sara. What an achievement. Saw it on the news tonight.

BrightBlueFlamingo · 14/11/2025 23:26

Well done sara❤, I love how women on MN support women, it's amazing🙄not! C'mon ladies support one another!

Silverbirchleaf · 15/11/2025 08:24

It’ll be interesting to know whether all the moaners watched The Traitors…

chloeriver · 15/11/2025 08:50

I think she did amazingly and actually hearing her made me donate and that donation was due to her and not due to being for CIN as really not something I would normally donate to ( which is quite funny as this year not only did I give to Sara's challenge my dc were involved via school so donated twice!). Anyway I think she did a fantastic job .

I'm im awe of Sara Cox, such an inspiration!
What she did was incredible and the amount of money raised will help a lot of people. I don't see what there is not to love!?!

HorseAreBetterThanHumans · 15/11/2025 09:00

I think it has been one of the most interesting CIN challenges for some time.

She's raised a record amount of money that the sector desperately needs. For those of us working in the sector this is a ray of hope and there are not many at the moment.

But she's also done an enormous amount for the women over 50 and the challenge to misogynistic language used to describe us has been brilliant.

That said I do think it's crazy that fundraising for a charity that puts a huge emphasis on safeguarding has put someone's health on the line like this. I can't help but worry she's done permanent damage to herself doing such a gruelling challenge.

EarringsandLipstick · 15/11/2025 09:08

On a personal level, she’s amazing to do this, and the money raised is incredibly impressive.

Howecer, she was in no way equipped to do this challenge, she needed a lot more training over a longer period, and it was absolutely reckless and dangerous to put her through it. There is no way someone can go from running 5k to 5 ultra-marathons over 5 days in that period of time. Her running / movement style, even early in the week, and at the start of the day, was really worrying (speaking as a runner. Who has run marathons and most certainly could NOT do what she did!)

EarringsandLipstick · 15/11/2025 09:12

But she's also done an enormous amount for the women over 50 and the challenge to misogynistic language used to describe us has been brilliant.

I disagree with this. She dragged herself through this, as she simply wasn’t fit enough or properly trained. There are many many women over 50 who are deeply impressive due to their athletic accomplishments and recognised as such.

I admire her for what she has done, through so much pain & suffering for her, she’s a great person. But as an example of sporting or physical accomplishment, through no fault of her own, she really is not demonstrating this.

Timeforabitofpeace · 15/11/2025 09:14

Higglea · 14/11/2025 22:07

😂 chip/shoulder/ millionaires - how many consecutive marathons have you done in 5 days?

It’s not much of an insult, though, is it?

FirstdatesFred · 15/11/2025 17:46

I didn't like watching her during the last couple of days of it. It looked like it was too much. So much pressure on her not to quit but looked to be having a massive impact on her health. It was uncomfortable watching.

goldenskiesandsilverlarks · 14/11/2025 21:56

Now imagine if all of these multimillionaires donated some of their wealth instead of doing these performative challenges, making ordinary working people donate to them.

Remember when the sainted Terry Wogan and Chris Evans used to do those CIN Charity auctions that really only very wealthy people could participate in, and all the moaning that happened on here because of that? People have chosen to donate money to her because they thought what she did was impressive. That's how sponsored events work. How about next time the local primary school does a sponsored walk you go into their assembly and slag them all off?

Changinglegs · 15/11/2025 18:15

Well done to someone who put themselves out to raise and amount of money.

Not a good example though. Take on realistic challenges and train for them properly. I’m as or more inspired by non celebs that ran 5k, half or marathons. They get a lot less money due to promotion and profile, but have really thought it through.

In this case there is a full back up crew so would not have added any pressure to services if she needed help so that was good.

The majority of people in the public eye do not discuss charitable donations in the U.K. it’s not the done thing.

I use the word public eye because dj’s, newsreaders, actors etc are not necessarily “celebrities seeking publicity, they just happen to do a job to entertain or inform us thus can use their influence to raise money for good causes.

how wealthy she is I do not know, I’m sure she has a nice house, nice car, perhaps private school for her kids but I’ve met her and her family a few times at events, they were very down to earth and not “celebrity” types, quite a few years ago her daughter decided to sit on my lap for her mums talk!

How old is her daughter? She should not be sitting on an adults lap.
