“Sent temperatures soaring” - turned up to the beach with a bikini on.

”Hideaway” - a house inhabited by a new couple.

”Said ‘I do’ - got married. See also ‘Tied the knot’, ‘Sealed the deal’ and ‘Became husband and wife’.

”Looked proudly on” - attended an event.

’Shame’ - whenever anyone’s caught doing anything, whether they’re ashamed or not.

A "jobbing" actor.

a cold snap

an arctic blast - all very Daily Express.

every bloody actor is a national treasure. Give me strength.

when someone dies it's always "peacefully " (makes me think of the alternative, thrashing around in bed - um no it never happens like that).

And they're always "surrounded" by their family. Bugger that, I can't think of anything worse, leave me in peace you bunch of hangers on

"A source said..." usually an employee of the Royal family.

And "a reliable source close to the Royal Family"

yeah some obsequious but underpaid RF butler getting a backhander in a brown envelope from the Daily Fail.

Gulf newspapers are the best. They still say things like " the rogues were duped by the cops"

"Jetting off" on holiday, not simply going on holiday

"Revellers" at a party, never just guests

I'd just love to be invited to a "wild cocaine-fuelled party" - sounds so much more interesting than a beige buffet and a few bottles of cheap plonk.

Slim pins.

Fresh-faced.

Redheadedstepchild · 08/11/2025 05:44

Axed.
Probed.

ohyesido · 08/11/2025 05:45

Slammed always makes me think of body slammed

Redheadedstepchild · 08/11/2025 05:49

Oh yeah, "Dramatic Clampdown."

Lifelover16 · 08/11/2025 05:56

Clapped back - for replying to or denying a statement

No-one ever loses a privilege or title.

They are ‘stripped’. Sometimes ‘brutally’, as part of a ‘bitter feud’.
