I'll preface this by saying I'm only familiar with the band's singles so I can’t accurately comment on the tracks from their extensive album back catalogue. But, if you can, go for it. My three in no particular order are:

Angie
You Can't Always Get What You Want
Honky Tonk Women

Gimme Shelter has got to be one of the most banging tunes ever written. I will never tire of it.

ComedyGuns · 04/11/2025 23:14

Waiting on a Friend - it’s just ageless and so sexy.

I am loving this thread, I have had the day from hell and this is bringing back loads of great memories. The tunes, the lyrics, the clothes, the scandals, the feuds, they are so entertaining in so many ways.

TheTecknician · 04/11/2025 23:32

Undercover of the Night hasn't been mentioned yet. It's even further from the music that the band originally aspired to but it's still a great song.

Sympathy for the devil by a long shot.

lifeonmars100 · 05/11/2025 00:59

Start me up with the never to be forgotten line of "you'd make a dead man come"

Emotional Rescue with all that falsetto singing then the muttering

I'm so hot for you "when you're old, when you're old no one will know that you were a beauty, a sweet sweet beauty but stone stone cold" and here is the silly video that always makes me smile,

Same here, if that had been the only song that they had ever done it would still be remarkable but the fact that they have such an incredible back catalouge is testament to their talents, chemistry and musicality. Some of their sucess is down to the era they began their decades long career but some is just down to having that indefinable "it" quality, Years ago I worked with a woman who used to go and see them in their very early days on the London club scene and she said it was obvious from the start they were going to be huge.

AtomHeartMotherOfGod · 05/11/2025 01:19

Gimme Shelter
Sympathy for the Devil
Jumpin' Jack Flash

The first two are a long way ahead of the third for me though.

BunfightBetty · 05/11/2025 01:33

So many to choose from, but if it had to be three it’s be:

Brown Sugar
Paint it Black
Gimme Shelter

Pick as many as you like. I just went for three as a nice round number.

But Wild Horses was the first song of theirs I ever heard, I was a teen and thought it was the coolest song I had ever heard.
