Would you go to this concert?

A friend is going, she's been excited for months.

I've just seen it on a seat filling site for £15.

I quite like the band and would go for £15, but I wasn't interested at the £80 she's paid.

One of the conditions for having these tickets is you're not to tell anyone at the venue about what you paid, but friend isn’t stupid.

How on earth can a seat filling site enforce that you not tell anyone at the venue how much you paid for a ticket??? What do they do, gag you?

Sassylovesbooks · 04/11/2025 14:43

Tell your friend if she asks, that a colleague had a ticket and couldn't go. You can always admit to the truth once you've left the venue! I've never heard of a seat filling site - please do share which site this is??

RampantIvy · 04/11/2025 14:45

Sounds like a scam to me.

Really? Where do you find these tickets then?

I think the response OP was hoping for was “Gosh golly what a great deal, of course you must go to this concert and do tell us the name of this incredible sounding site where we can also get concert tix at crazy prices, it sounds so legit and non scammy!”

No, they ask nicely that you don't spoil things for other attendees. I think there is something that you could be blacklisted from buying further tickets if they hear about it, but agree that's unlikely. It's just not in the spirit of the thing.

However, my concern is not upsetting the seat filling people, it's upsetting my friend.

Ah well I'm not going to tell you, why would I share the secret?😉 I've used them lots of times and seen some really good shows for between £4 and £15. Technically the tickets are free, but you pay an admin fee and often you have to be prepared to make a quick decision and go same day.

Yeah the info you’ve given has led us directly to the site anyway OP 😉

Yes, I guessed it would. It's really not a very big secret 😄

She might be upset to find that there was no need to pay £80.

Yes I would go. I know people who are registered with similar places for theatre tickets.

That's like saying 'Never buy anything in a sale in case a friend who bought the same item at full price might get upset'!!

I don't think most people would buy a sale item knowing their friend already owned it?

I think the main thing is to not sit telling everyone around you loudly how you much you paid, or in the bar etc. I use one of these sites too, I think they are a poorly kept "secret".

Lj8893 · 04/11/2025 18:06

I have no idea what this secret site is and would be keen to know 🤣

LinaLouLa · 04/11/2025 18:18

Go for it. I went to a huge group's gig via tickets from that site last year. Seats were amazing! And I think everyone in our block had come from the same ticket site 😂. Woman next to me couldn't wait to tell me ha ha.

Seat filler tickets are often an incredible bargain, but as pp said, you have to be prepared to go at short notice, the concerts are usually within the next day or two.

it’s not, I’m on a mailing list for this and we get free/discounted tickets all the time.

Alconleigh · 04/11/2025 18:24

I bought tickets for a concert at great expense as a present for my partner. That concert was then all over the seat ticket filling site. It happens 🤷‍♀️. Go if you want to.

Yes but if you really, really want a ticket you'll pay the £80 as soon as they are released to make sure you get one. This 'seat filling' thing for 15 quid is all very well if you are able to go at short notice and don't particularly care about not going, in the event that tickets for that specific event never appear on the discounted site.

Who else was your friend going with? Or did she just buy one ticket and intend on going alone, which sounds unlikely? Presumably she's going with other friends anyway and won't give a stuff whether you go or not.

Ronathediva13 · 04/11/2025 18:36

The seat filling site won’t want you to go around at the event shouting at the top of your voice about your bargain seat but they’re not going to police whether you tell your friend or not. Personally if I thought something was worth £80 and I had paid that money I might for a moment think damn I wish I’d waited for the cheap ticket but I don’t think I’d resent a friend who took advantage of an offer. I think you should go, be honest with your friend and enjoy yourself.
