O2 London tomorrow, parking or waiting area help please

MN has been amazing in the past, please can I ask your help again.

Coming from Somerset to go to the O2. Could anyone recommend either.

A. Best place to park and travel in- not worried about paying to park/Ulez etc just ease.

B. Best place to wait if I decide not to go to the concert. Still need to park car and I will be on my own - can stay in the car.

Happy to use tube/overground - but will be going straight home so already a long drive.

Thank you

Park in Canary Wharf - easy to get to o2 from there.

or just park at the o2?

O2LondonParking · 03/11/2025 22:33

Thanks. Will look at Canary Wharf but wonder if that is the wrong side of the river for driving? I have thought about the O2 but would rather travel out a bit than be stuck for ages in a queue - took us 2hours to get out of Twickenham.

Is there somewhere you could park on the vicinity of a Crossrail/Elizabeth line station in West London/western edge of London? Somewhere like Slough or Maidenhead if they’re on the Elizabeth line? Assuming you’re heading home on the M4? Someone more knowledgeable than me might know but personally, I’d park near one of those places and get the Elizabeth line to Stratford and Jubilee line a few stops to North Greenwich (it’s easy). Then you’re not driving around/across London.

If you decided not to go to the concert, you could get the Elizabeth line into central London (eg Bond Street or Tottenham Court Road for Covent Garden) and then meet whoever you’re travelling with back at the car?

tinyspiny · 03/11/2025 22:38

Park at the O2 , it’s never that bad after a concert and there are usually queues to get down to the underground etc . I always park in the station car park . If you don’t go to the show there are shops and restaurants .

StepsInTime · 03/11/2025 22:39

Westfield shopping centre in Shepherd’s Bush is a good spot and lots of travel connections

MsAdoraBelleDearheartVonLipwig · 03/11/2025 22:41

Parking at the O2 is fine and it’s a short walk straight in. The queues are bigger for the underground than the car park.

mamagogo1 · 03/11/2025 22:46

I’ve always parked at the o2. The trick is on arrival to identify where the exit is and park there rather than closer to the entrance, same for all big venues.

O2LondonParking · 03/11/2025 22:53

It looks like all the O2 parking is full (this is a last minute change of plans, it was meant to be a hotel stay and train)

I have been to Westfield and that would be good for not attending but wonder if I can get closer.

To the pp I love the Elizabeth line, that is how we normally access London but not sure if it is too far.

ikea at bugsby way. Five hours free parking either a 25 minute walk to the 02 or a five minute bus ride.
park here everytime

there’s also no queue getting out from there either

That looks great thank you. Is the car park open 24 hours?

The station car park and shopping car park are not bookable so unless you are arriving really late it won’t be full .

Turmerictolly · 03/11/2025 23:40

What time do you need to be there? A lot of the area around Greenwich/East Greenwich/Westcombe Park is free after either 5pm or 6:30 until 09:00 the following day. You can arrive earlier but would have to pay on a meter up until the meter stop time. The meters are usually 2-4 hour max stay. You can get a bus to the O2 in 5 -10 minutes or so. Or park in IKEA and bus it from the entrance in 5 mins.

CookiesAreForSharing · 03/11/2025 23:49

If O2 parking is full (best place if possible, it’s easy in and out) then park at Canary Wharf. Jubilee Mall car park, walk into the mall and jump on Jubilee Line and get off at North Greenwich (O2). There is a fab outlet mall inside the O2, loads of restaurants which will be quiet when the gig is taking place ( heaving right before though). Or go back and forth in the cable car right there, great view! Super shopping at Canary Wharf as well.

It is. No barriers but just cameras that see you go in and out. Street parking in the area is free in evenings (mostly) but near impossible to find let alone when a concert is on.

Canary wharf looks great but is the wrong side of the river, it adds quite a lot of time to the journey according to maps

Also have just been on the j O2 website which says local roadworks are causing dreadful issues.

Is the Asda carpark near by limited time, I just will be there for longer than 5 hours so will need somewhere else as well if parking at IKEA (unless there is an option to pay?)

Thanks for your time in replying, I have only been able to do things like this because of your help- I don't know what I would do without MN.

We parked a couple of weeks ago for Katy Perry. Lots of roadworks but it still wasn’t an issue. Took 10 mins to get out of the car park. However, the official car park that you can book for gigs needs to be booked at least 24 hours before. X

Yes, it’s around 2 hours at the Asda car park. You haven’t said the times you need to arrive and leave which would be helpful. Just head into East or West Greenwich and get a bus. It’s free to park on the residential streets from 6:30 or 5pm on some roads. Head towards the streets off Trafalgar Road, SE10. You can pay at the meters if you need to arrive before then.

O2LondonParking · 04/11/2025 09:41

Thanks, I think I will be there about 18.30 maybe later depending on traffic.

I would rather a car park with lights as likely to wait in the car for a while but thanks for the postcode as it gives me a good option

Then head to Greenwich Town Centre - about a 7-8 minute drive away from the O2. There is a car park at Eastney St and another accessed via Burney Street. Both SE10. Both well lit and shouldn’t be too busy. Will be free after 6:30 until 09:00 the next day.

Lots to do in Greenwich whilst you’re waiting - Picturehouse cinema, walk around by the river, lots of bars and restaurants and it’s safe.

It really doesn't add any time - but it depends on where you're driving from I think! I always drove to it from that side of the river. Yes it's on the other side of the river but the tube line takes you very quickly to the O2 directly. And the Jubilee Mall Canary Wharf car park is about 3 minutes walk to the tube. And Canary Wharf itself is an exceptionally safe place to shop and eat. Cinemas etc.
