MN has been amazing in the past, please can I ask your help again.

Coming from Somerset to go to the O2. Could anyone recommend either.

A. Best place to park and travel in- not worried about paying to park/Ulez etc just ease.

B. Best place to wait if I decide not to go to the concert. Still need to park car and I will be on my own - can stay in the car.

Happy to use tube/overground - but will be going straight home so already a long drive.

Thank you

Sorry are these O2 parking areas?

The car park for shopping is , the station car park is on the same site but obviously managed by whoever manages station car parks but anybody can park there . I was at the O2 on Sunday , the roadworks are no bother at all . The station car park is £17.50 ( I think) for 24 hrs)

Thanks all- I am Google maps checking all the options now.

If I park Greenwich side are the buses easy to get (we live in a max 4 buses a day village!)

Sorry to sound so wet about it.

It really doesn't add any time - but it depends on where you're driving from I think! I always drove to it from that side of the river. Yes it's on the other side of the river but the tube line takes you very quickly to the O2 directly. And the Jubilee Mall Canary Wharf car park is about 3 minutes walk to the tube. And Canary Wharf itself is an exceptionally safe place to shop and eat. Cinemas etc.

It looks great but it is the driving that seems to be an issue, Maps adds a lot of time driving from the South side of the river - and I assume under a tunnel?

Yes, if from the South you can come under the Silvertown tunnel. Or Blackwall tunnel. Both close to CWharf. Maybe less stressful to stay in the South side if you’re coming from that way.

You’ve probably already left but planning to drive that side of London from Somerset is absolute madness!!! It adds HOURS to the journey either through London or round the M25.

We come up from the West Country to work in Canary Wharf (and see Benson Boone tonight!!!) and park at Old Deer Carpark in Richmond. It’s easy to get to off the motorway, doesn’t cost a bomb and then take the tube across London to the o2, takes about 45 mins.

Thanks @user1471548941 you are right!

However this is very badly planned. I have left Somerset and am now near Southampton, but I cant leave here until about 5.30!

I can't see there is time to do it at all, but I have said I will try. (And we need to drive back to Somerset tonight)

@socks1107 @AmusedBouched I love you both.

Drive has been awful, M25 usual car park but finally got near the O2 and the slip road to Greenwich village is closed off due to a massive fire - had to go through the tunnel and turn at the roundabout and go back so I guess I will be charged for that.

But then came back round, threw my passengers out at a red light and they ran to make the support act.

So thanks to the above I knew to ask Google for directions to IKEA, which was an absolute god send.

@PolyVagalNerve IKEA car park is like a normal retail park car park - also has a Nandos, Pizza hut and burger king. Busy car park with buses going past.

Yeah glad you found ikea! Hope they have fun and your journey home is better

CookiesAreForSharing · 04/11/2025 23:38

What a hassle you have had! Did you go through the Blackwall tunnel twice then? You'll have to pay for both directions, £4. Info here on how to pay, make sure you do it yourself to avoid the fine - pay by midnight on the 3rd day after you travel:

I regularly go to the o2 and other concert venues across London, usually every 3-4 weeks and I drive from south Wales. I never park at the o2. It takes bloody ages to get across that last bit of London. I went to Wembley arena last night as it happens and I always park in Ealing/ Acton and get the tube across. MUCH quicker for getting back out of London. You can either park on the streets, a lot of permit zones end around 5pm or use something like JustPark to reserve a driveway.

O2LondonParking · 05/11/2025 20:54

@CookiesAreForSharing thanks. Frustrating as I had no choice but to go that way, but I didn't pay parking so I guess it balances out. Have paid.

@SquashPenguin I love Ealing - it is all thanks to a MN poster JessyRadlet, or something like that, who helped me many years ago. It just didn't seem possible this time.

Coming home the M25 was closed so that was also exciting.... I can't believe how busy central London is at midnight, but the trip home was quiet.
