Warm teapot then tip the water away
add teabags depending on how many cups are required and fresh almost boiling water
leave to brew
very small amount of milk in the cup
pour in the tea
or
ask DC3 to make a brew and wait for delivery.

Bag in, water, steep for 3-4 minutes, bag out (no squeezing), sugar in, milk in, stir.

Exactly this. Never ever squeeze you heathens

I cringe when I see people squeezing the tea bag to death. Makes it bitter!

menopausalfart · 26/10/2025 12:05

Bag in, preferably PG.
Water poured right off the boil.
Steep for two mins. Stir.
Bag out.
Milk.

GeorgeMichaelsCat · 26/10/2025 12:06

Thermal mug version. Sweeteners in, tea bag in, hot water. Stew a bit. Milk in. Lid on. Drink.

SplendidUtterly · 26/10/2025 12:07

I suspected the right answer because DS told me that once you add cold milk, the bag stops brewing. I'm not sure it's true! But anyway, that's why it's boiling water on the bag, then bag out, add milk. Don't squeeze the bag! It releases tannins and makes the tea bitter. Just drip it all over the worktop get it quickly into the food waste.
Re sugar, I had sugar for years until someone at work made me persevere without for a few days. You can taste the tea better, and you haven't got sugar swilling round your teeth all day.

mondaytosunday · 26/10/2025 12:11

My beautician used to make the best tea so I asked her. Controversially: milk, sugar/sweetener and bag in, then the boiled water. Take tea bag out when it’s the right strength. Works every time!

MousseMousse · 26/10/2025 12:12

Warm pot by swilling with freshly boiled water
Empty & add loose tea to taste (usually around 3 tsps for a 6 cup pot)
Add freshly boiled hot water
Cover with tea cosy and leave to steep
Pour into desired china mug or tea cup, using strainer.
Add a splash of milk if desired, or a slice of lemon

I'm ashamed to describe it thus;

Boiling water in cup, dunk bag twice and that's it.

Me too plus a drop of milk.
I hate strong tea or coffee.

ObtuseMoose · 26/10/2025 12:12

Carefully select mug
Add three sugars to mug
Add teabag
Pour on off the boil water
Wait a couple of minutes
Squeeze teabag like I'm to resuscitate it
Add milk
Stir in an anti clockwise direction
Drink.

mamaduckbone · 26/10/2025 12:20

Bag in.
Wander off and do something else for a few minutes so it brews
Bag out with a squeeze
Milk.

Or the same but in a pot.

Can't be doing with wishy washy tea

mathanxiety · 26/10/2025 15:16

Boil kettle
Put teabag in teapot
Pour boiling water into teapot
Let brew for two minutes
Pour tea into mug
Fish teabag out of teabag and plop into the bin
Pour a small splash of milk into mug of tea

Repeat pouring tea into mug as needed, possibly warming in the microwave, and adding a splash of milk
