elm26 · 26/10/2025 01:22

Yorkshire tea is a must in our house

teabag and half tsp sugar
boiling water
swish around
milk
teabag out when it looks strong

FatalCattraction · 26/10/2025 02:08

Bag in, STIR for 20 secs, steep for two mins, dash of milk.

I'm ashamed to describe it thus;

Boiling water in cup, dunk bag twice and that's it.

That's not tea!!

sashh · 26/10/2025 02:30

Making tea for my dad. 2 teabags in the pot, add hot water, put on the table with a jug of milk.

For me. Warm small teapot, add loose tea (usually earl grey) add just boiled water. While it is mashing I will get out my one China cup and saucer, use a teas strainer to pour the tea. I don't take milk, also if the tea is not EG then I might add a slice of lemon.

For Indian friends, start by heating the milk in a pan, add some cardamon pods (split) maybe some cloves add boiling water.

Put the tea leaves in and turn to low for a couple of mins.

Pour through a strainer.

@thistimelastweek I have found my tea twin, cheers! ☕☕ <clink>

BrickBiscuit · 26/10/2025 08:20

Make mug of tea conventionally for other person. Make second mug for me with the used tea bag. Stew. Leaving bag in, add milk and drink it so. We use strong tea bags, and the first is brewed quickly by preference so mine is still pretty robust.

Deliveroo · 26/10/2025 08:29

For me:
bag in
boiling water in
quick squeeze
bag out, set aside to reuse,
milk

For others,
Scald the pot
2 bags
Add boiling water from the kettle as my granny recites “bring the pot to the kettle not the kettle to the pot” in my head (if you knew her you wouldn’t be at all surprised that she haunts my teapot)
Steep for two minutes
milk in the cup
pour tea

Adooree · 26/10/2025 08:35

Bag in , water in , leave to brew , stir , squeeze , bag out , milk in .

Or boil kettle , water in teapot , swirl , water out , tea leaves in , water in teapot , leave to brew , stir , swirl , pour in mug / cup with strainer , add milk .

somewhereintheworld · 26/10/2025 08:53

They're all wrong. It should be bag in teapot, wait for a few minutes, stir, pour and then add milk 😂

DiscoBob · 26/10/2025 08:58

Bag
Sugar x 2
Water
Stir in sugar
Squeeze bag and out

Is this the new Life in the UK test?

😂😂😂😂

HelpMeGetThrough · 26/10/2025 09:16

Bag and two sugars in mug. Kettle boiled to 90 degrees (just because I can), fill up, squeeze the life out of the bag, add milk and drink.

I like it strong and sweet.

Natsku · 26/10/2025 09:22

Bag in
Water
Stand there watching the bag for a bit, then wiggle it around for some reason I don't know
Bag out
Add a splash of cold water so I can drink it straight away
Drink
Immediately make another one

JustAboutMuddlingThrough · 26/10/2025 09:27

Teabag
hot water
quick stir then let it mash for a minute or so
Remove teabag
then depending on what’s open in the fridge at the time either a splash of oat milk, soya milk or almond milk.

Smileybutwily · 26/10/2025 09:41

Now this is a thread I can get onboard with!

*Select correct mug depending on the time of day
*Twinings everyday tea bag
*Use freshly boiled (that has not been boiled before) filtered water
*Pour water on to bag in a way that agitates it and releases tea
*Leave for a further minute
*Squeeze teabag using 2 spoons
*Add semi skimmed milk until a perfect rosy-brown colour
*Grab 2 or 3 chocolate hobnobs
*Sit down and enjoy

The above probably explains why I never accept tea at anyone's house!

DonaldJohnTrump · 26/10/2025 09:46

I would just shout "TEA" in bigly letters.
And it would appear.
But I don't like tea.
So I don't.

Myblueclematis · 26/10/2025 09:56

Currently with a teabag in a mug, then add tiny bit of milk. I have been buying much better tea quality bags for the last year or so and there is a definite difference in taste.

I did buy a new teapot with the central bit for loose leaf tea to seep into the water so I am going to start using that as I have some decent loose leaf tea in the cupboard.

childofthe607080s · 26/10/2025 09:57

I have loose leaf tea and a little pot that hangs inside my mug

tea - breakfast assam or Darjeeling - one spoon
boiling water
wander the house
add the milk and a splash of cold water so I can have it NOW

avoids any nasties in the bag

ApolloandDaphne · 26/10/2025 10:08

Bag in
water in
swish around about three times
bag out
tea is done.

ApolloandDaphne · 26/10/2025 10:09

Alternatively I just ask DH for a cup of tea and it magically arrives.

OSTMusTisNT · 26/10/2025 10:11

Bag in mug, boiling water, get distracted, fish out bag and put in bin, never the plughole 🤬, tiniest drop of milk.

(Then microwave 30 minutes later as I've forgotten about it).

rainbowsparkle28 · 26/10/2025 10:14

(Inspired by The Wheel last night?!)
Tea bag in
Water
Milk
Let brew!
Tea bag out 👌

Nushi21 · 26/10/2025 10:20

I recently started something new and for some reason it’s my new go to.
Milk in cup (I changed to grahams milk)
microwave for 1.30 mins
add bag and stir
add water
stir and let steep
take out bag
enjoy

I use Yorkshire Tea hard water bags. I find them so weak. I used to be a light tea and lots of milk drinker but now I want to taste the tea!

l’m south asian, (we grow tea in our tea gardens back home) my family will slaughter me if they see how I drink my tea 😂😂😂

Catpiece · 26/10/2025 10:21

Bag. Milk. Hot water. Leave tea bag in and sometimes add another one. Lovely.
