Help me come to terms with my wrinkles

SpinningTops · 11/10/2025 19:18

I am 37 but have fairly pronounced forehead wrinkles. I have a very expressive face where I move my forehead a lot. The rest of my face is pretty wrinkle free. I hate it, focus on it every time I look in the mirror and they seem much deeper than others.

I have had Botox which helps and was about to book in again (it was about 5 months ago) but I started to think maybe I need to come to terms with it. I moisture, have used tret etc. this is just me!

There’s nothing wrong with getting older, my genes mean my wrinkles might be worse than some but I’m healthy!

Men are attractive, wrinkles or not, why can’t a woman be?

Help me come to terms with this, I would prefer not to be told they’re dreadful and there’s no hope for me 🤣

@SpinningTops you have a face that moves as it's supposed to. They're a few light 'wrinkles' they're just 'you' our foreheads aren't supposed to be like plastic smooth surfaces.

I have deep laughter lines, crows feet wrinkles the lot. I hated them and used to bitch about them. Then i looked at my nieces face, line free, aged 22 in a coffin and made a vow to never give out about them again. My wrinkles show that i have lived laughed and loved. Hope you can appreciate yourself exactly as you are. You are enough. I dislike the current trend where lots of faces are morphing into each other.

Oh I am so very sorry to hear about your niece 🌷🤗

I'm 32 and mine already look like yours. I don't mind it or even think it's noticeable to be honest. Most old women grow fringes to cover their forehead wrinkles. People who can afford it get a forehead lift to reduce them. But most people just accept their time of being gorgeous and you g and attractive is over and enjoy not being harassed by men for simply existing.

Kate Winslet said this:

I feel sorry for people who cannot see the beauty in an ageing face. It's like going to an historic city like Venice and wanting to put new plaster or new facades over all the crumbling walls.

And I agree with her.

I don't love the rest of her quote, but that part rings true. I used to fret about getting more wrinkles, but honestly? It shows a life lived.

I bet she has cosmetic surgery though and this was her virtue signalling. You know how vain celebs are

I have earned my wrinkles, they show my wisdom, and my life experiences,

and if you think about it, it is such a privilege to wear them, as not everyone gets the chance .

Absolutely this ,wear your wrinkles and think about all the memories.
PS everyone by their 30s have them unless they have used Botox,Fillers etc

ProfessionalWhimsicalSkidaddler · 12/10/2025 00:50

well, a few things.
firstly, what the fuck are you on about? I’m 38 and my wrinkles are loads worse than that. I’ve had Botox twice. Loved it but it wore off because I go to the gym a lot and have the strongest forehead muscles known to man due to all the disdain I’m expressing.
secondly, if you do think it’s bad then you don’t have to deal with it. Get more Botox.

but you’re grand. More water and more nutrients.

childofthe607080s · 12/10/2025 00:52

Your face is in constant motion expect when you look at it closely

to people outside who see you expressive , lively and in motion … well they don’t see wrinkles

Bit harsh.
The OP is not responsible for your stage 4 cancer?

It isn’t harsh at all. The stupid OP
needs to get a grip. 67000 people dead in Gaza, goodness knows how many in Ukraine, America run by a racist nut job, and the UK slipping further under with Farage, plus the poster with stage 4 cancer, and she wants help to “come to terms” with wrinkles at 37?? She needs to fucking well cop on.

Franjipanl8r · 12/10/2025 03:06

You have a completely normal forehead for your age! I expect the problem isn’t your forehead, but the fact you compare yourself to others on social media with filters and fillers. My forehead is way more wrinkly than yours and I’m only a couple of years older, but I’m not in social media so I only compare myself to others in the real world.

So sorry.

I didn’t intend to be insensitive.

You weren’t insensitive at all.
I was just putting things in perspective.
I used to worry about silly things about my looks. Most women do.
Enjoy your body for it’s functions, not what it looks like. That’s all I meant.

Wallywobbles · 12/10/2025 07:55

They are barely there. Honestly no one but you will think you look wrinkly. I’m 54 and my neck is appalling. But I don’t worry about my face much.

They didn’t say or imply OP was responsible for their cancer but by pointing out what they did surely that would give anyone a bit of perspective and hopefully realise a few wrinkles is nothing to be down about

Who has ever said to you women aren’t attractive with wrinkles?

How did you read that comment and come up with this response? The comment was harsh, yes, becsue sometimes people need to be told to get a grip. I think perspective is easy to lose, often harsh reality brings us back. Blame though? WTF?

OhVictoriahavesomechocolate · 12/10/2025 08:23

I didn’t intend to be insensitive

You weren't insensitive. You are feeling insecure and sought solace in S&B not AIBU or General Health.

TwinklyStork · 12/10/2025 08:24

Oh for goodness sake. There’s nothing there. Have you always been so vain and shallow?

OhVictoriahavesomechocolate · 12/10/2025 08:27

And Google Naomi Watts - lined, wrinkled and gorgeous and vivacious.

SpottedDeer · 12/10/2025 13:41

AramintaWildbloode · 11/10/2025 21:27

I’ll be blunt so brace yourself.
I have stage 4 cancer.
I would bloody love to get older and develop more wrinkles.
I would be ecstatic to be a shrivelled prune of a woman as long as my body worked.
Get a grip.
Does that help?

Edited

I'll be blunt too.

There are starving Africans who die before their tenth Birthday. Coming here to shame OP for losing her looks when you've lived longer than starving African kids in a country they could only dream of enjoying. Get a grip. Does that help?

Sagaciously · 12/10/2025 13:49

I used to have forehead lines like this. Botox has entirely eliminated them. Good luck to anyone that embraces theirs - I didn’t like mine.

Quite likely, but it doesn't make it any less true for us mortals. It's why I said I didn't particularly like the rest of her quote.

If you had bothered read the thread you would perhaps have seen my other post responding directly to the OP.

What a treat you are.

Pleasant aren't you?
Women in WW2 used gravy on their legs in place of tights to create the same look. Ash from the fire could be made into eyeliner. Rags teased their hair into curls.
No matter what atrocities are going on in the world people have always cared about how they look.
Personally I won't stop putting makeup on or dying my slightly greying hair because 67000 people are dead in Gaza (unless I am missing something at their deaths are directly linked to my use of hair dye?)
It doesn't make someone 'stupid' if they care about their appearance.

It would make an interesting study, why do people dislike vain women? There's nothing inherently wrong with being vain and there are plenty of vain men as well. The vainest people I've ever met have been men. Women are pressured to be pretty but simultaneously hated for actually being pretty.
