Full sugar coke
marmite XO
flaky sea salt (maldon or Cornish)

anything goes apart from that

Ghostellas · 10/10/2025 23:28

Lurpak, coke / Pepsi….think that’s it!

RightOnTheEdge · 10/10/2025 23:31

Coke/Pepsi
Crunchy Nut cornflakes and Cheerios

Same here. I switched to loose tea from tea bags a while ago but stuck with Barry's and now anything else just doesn't taste right. Unfortunately the loose tea is only sold in small boxes but we seem to drink less and enjoy it more....maybe its stronger or something.

Irish tea is stronger, it contains a higher blend of assam.
It’s why we bring tea on holidays, the risk of weak tea…

Fizbosshoes · 10/10/2025 23:34

I drink diet coke
I went out this evening and ordered it, only to get the dreaded response "is Pepsi OK?"

I said yes...but it really isn't ok

Fionasapples · 10/10/2025 23:37

Twinings Everyday teabags and Nescafé Azera Americano coffee.

mondaytosunday · 10/10/2025 23:38

Heinz ketchup/baked beans
cola has got to be Coca Cola
I tried Tesco value crisps and they were vile
only Betty Crocker brownie mix will do
Wouldn’t buy own brand cereals as they never taste right.

dicdicnurse · 10/10/2025 23:41

Coca-Cola
hellmans mayo
heinz beans
yorkshire tea
Lurpak

Newnamethisway · 10/10/2025 23:55

Diet coke
lurpak - tried a few others and could tell the difference.
tilda basmati to cook myself. I now like vetee about as much as tilda for pouches and the size is right for 1.
cheap range not good value for can tomatoes but I can’t taste difference with sweetcorn or canned fish. So look for marine stewardship for the fish.

Lidl biscuits and chocolate are horrific compared to even other supermarket brand biscuits and choc. Like cardboard, very artificial flavours.

PrincessFiorimonde · 11/10/2025 00:09

PG Tips (recently had Tetleys as a substitute in a supermarket delivery, and both DP and I hated that - I was surprised how strongly we felt)
Branston's baked beans (I know a lot of people like Heinz, but I find those too sweet)

BadLad · 11/10/2025 00:15

Surprised to see cola mentioned so often - for me diet cola from Sainsbury is perfectly fine and about a quarter of the price of Coke or Pepsi.

Supermarket beer is worm drench, and should be avoided at all costs.

Uuiyo · 11/10/2025 00:16

Chocolate, dh once brought back Tesco or tesco value chocolate and I wanted to cry 😆
used to be Heinz beans for years and years but I’ve recently moved over to Branson beans

NotrialNodeal · 11/10/2025 00:20

Heinz salad cream
Yorkshire tea
Heinz baked beans
Coke

Cappuccino5 · 11/10/2025 00:23

Garlic. Cheap, white garlic is usually imported from China who have very dodgy regulations regarding chemicals used to fertilise soil and spray crops. Personally I opt for Spanish garlic (and tight EU regulations!) instead

Meat, poultry, fish, eggs and dairy. With animal products you get what you pay for, both in terms of quality and welfare standards.

Honey. Made the mistake of reading into the counterfeit honey trade and a lot of the cheaper stuff (which isn’t really that cheap.. Rowse for example) is simply sugar syrup mixed with the lowest quality honey that money can buy, imported from across the globe.

Cola. Coke only!

Vegetables. They have to be fresh. With the exception of sweetcorn, spinach and peas, frozen/canned veg is awful.

makesandbakes · 11/10/2025 00:40

I'm really fussy about chips in whatever form. Always has to he mccains. Most other things I'm not generally fussy on and can be supermarket brand.

murasaki · 11/10/2025 01:09

We have two butters. Anchor is for cooking, and lovely salt crystal stuff from the local butcher is for eating on things like crumpets. I've had to stop DP wasting it in a pan...

Papyrophile · 11/10/2025 14:11

Eeek @rosanna19 The thought of battery hens' eggs is abhorrent. May have to think this one over.

Freeatlast001 · 11/10/2025 14:40

Moreteaandchocolate · 11/10/2025 14:49
