Where would you recommend to stay and eat around the Marylebone area please? I have a hospital appointment in Harley Street at the end of October and would like to make a trip of it for me and my husband.

Thank you

Depends on budget, the landmark hotel is lovely and right next-door to the train station at Marlebone, easy walk to Harley Street and local shops/restaurants

Ooo just had a look and it’s definitely out of my budget! I’d like to spend no more than £700 for 2 nights if possible.

Any restaurants you recommend?

The Orrery is nice or there’s Chiltern Firehouse. Dishoom is good for something more casual - closest one is probably Soho, not far.
If the Landmark is too expensive you could look at the holmes hotel or the zetter. The Raddison Blu down the road near Bond Street is good too.

If you are willing and able to walk a bit I would aim to stay more in the Paddington area. There are premier inns and the Mercure isn’t much more. And then you have all the eateries in Paddington basin which cover a wide range.

BlueberryLatte · 05/10/2025 19:49

Re restaurants, I like Fischers on Marylebone High Street

The Chiltern Firehouse burnt down.

I’d have a look at KOL, if you’re wanting to spend some money.

If your appointment is Harley Street then don't limit yourself to Marylebone! For a much livelier night out head to Soho and stay somewhere really fun like the Karma Sanctum Hotel, eat somewhere fairly cheap like The Soho Social or 27 Compton Street then splurge on cocktails at Three Sheets.

Chiltern's just reopened. It's hard to get a table though.

I second this
their schnitzel is epic !

Decorhate · 05/10/2025 20:40

If you need a reasonable but ok hotel, the Holiday Inn Regents Park might work? Very close to Great Portland St tube station and a short walk to Harley St.

MauriceTheMussel · 05/10/2025 21:08

Is The Sanderson still going?

Me too, love this place.

ScoobyAndScrappy · 05/10/2025 21:24

Marylebone is a lovely area to stay/eat. Lots of yummy restaurants and pubs on Marylebone High Street. The Dorset Square Hotel is gorgeous. Even if you don't stay there a visit to the Potting Shed is nice. Hope your appointment goes well.

Davros · 05/10/2025 21:36

Durrants hotel. I love the Entrecôte Relais de Venise but there’s no booking so there is often a queue. We got it off to a fine art, arrive midday or 2pm. If you go, you have to eat the Vacherin de Relais

Fairyvocals · 05/10/2025 21:40

Another vote for Fischer’s and the epic schnitzel. Happy sigh.

crumpet · 05/10/2025 21:42

Lots of good places already listed. The Brasserie of Light at Selfridges might also be worth looking at.

AlastheDaffodils · 05/10/2025 21:51

Lunch/Dinner: St John, or Fischers as mentioned.

Breakfast: Granger & Co

Allow £20 in the budget to pop into Daunt Books and buy a pretty hardback from the lovely big room at the back.

Agree with staying at Paddington: walking distance from Harley street, much cheaper.

foodtoorder · 05/10/2025 21:54

Agree with staying around Paddington for affordability and walking distance. Lots of options for eating out.

Daunt books looks right up my street! Thank you ☺️

If you like middle Eastern food there are loads of great places on Edgware road.

Davros · 05/10/2025 22:05

You need to visit the Fromagerie

WallLight · 05/10/2025 22:23

If you’re looking for somewhere cosy and informal with reliable Lebanese food and nice service, Fairuz on Blandford Street is handy for Daunt’s and the Wallace Collection.

Bananafofana · 05/10/2025 22:26

Another vote for granger & co for breakfast brunch or lunch. The highlight of any Harley st medical trip!

Netaporter · 05/10/2025 22:32

Recommend Carlotta on Marylebone high street. And Town on Drury Lane.

The Sanderson is still going and has just had a refurb. I always enjoy a stay there.

FKAT · 05/10/2025 22:49

It's the nicest area of London. Recommend St. John and also the cheese barge in Paddington.
Sorry you are going for medical reasons.
