I work 37 hours over 5 days so
Monday 8-4
Tuesday 7.15-3.45
Wednesday 10-6.30
Thursday 7.30-4.00
Friday 10-6.30

I have so much guilt working and I can’t seem to overcome it. Please help

Work which stops you spending time with the kids is a normal part of life from the Stone Age onwards

kids would be sent out to play with each other even if the mum was working at home

this was the pattern until the 1950s and the birth of the nuclear family concept - which has not lasted well has it?

my mam worked and I doubt I would be better or happier if she didn’t

Those are fairly standard working hours. Why would they make you a bad mum? It’s not like your swanning off to a spa 37 hours a week. You presumably work for money, which you use to take care of your children. That’s the lived reality of the overwhelming majority of people.

Would going to a spa for 37 hours make someone a bad mum?

Spending 37 hrs in a spa would suggest that you prioritise your enjoyment over others to an unusually high degree

of the child was happy , entertained and felt loved and and money wasn’t tight and husband also had similar feee time it could be ok

I think you need to reframe it in your mind as positive role modelling. You’re teaching your children that hard work makes for success. It’s not like you’re flying around the world and unavailable for them? I could more understand feeling guilty about doing that (not that anyone should of course), but doing a flexi 9-5 is pretty standard?
