Good Morning All! What are you all up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot, watching the trees blow about in the rain outside. The cats have been fed & gone back to bed - boy cat took up most of my leg room last night 🙄.

I've put dd's school shirts on to wash already, tidied round the kitchen, and put a few pots to soak. Washing them is my next job.

We haven't got anything planned for today. The weather's uninspiring & dd has quite a bit of homework she wants to get done as she has exam prep to focus on this coming week, and a night out at a gig on Thursday. I'm also out all next weekend, so want to do a thorough clean/tidy this week, and make sure all the washing's caught up etc. to try and make my life easier through the week.

Other than that, I think it'll be a moochy, pottering kind of day. I'll get out my case and start thinking about what to take with me to London next weekend 🤔. I'm dreadful at packing & always take too much!

I haven't looked for inspiration for tea yet - possibly chicken wraps & salad, unless dd wants something else!

After that, showers and chill for the evening. I'm not getting far with my current book so might pick a differemt one - we'll see!

What about all of you? 🙂

🤣 I was just about to request that @MinnieMountain paid the cat tax! Latest photo of my two dickheads attached...they've taken to day sleeping on dd1's desk chair.

I think you've catnapped my boy - the one at the bottom is the spitting image of mine (currently fast asleep on the sofa)!

Meadowfinch · 04/10/2025 10:30

I overslept and missed parkrun but must have been tired.

The washing is done, Off to do the food shop now.

I did two university visits and worked one weekend in September so the house is a tip. I'll be cleaning today, then tidying the garden & making greengage jam. I'll go for a walk and collect hazel nuts & sloes to make liqueurs if I get time this afternoon, then a late karate class.

I have all tomorrow free too. Bliss 😊

mamaduckbone · 04/10/2025 10:31

Good morning @lucysmam and all.
I've been for my morning run and chat - it's still very windy here but seems to have rained itself out last night.
A mooch into town this morning to buy bread and look for a couple of winter work jumpers, and maybe grab a coffee, watching ds2 play rugby this afternoon then to friends' for dinner and a catch up this evening. Looking forward to today.

lucysmam · 04/10/2025 10:34

@Umbongoumbongo999 dd1's only been at uni 3 weeks - I have a bag of requests to deliver next weekend 🤣. She also wants to go to Asda and eat out...my bank account is crying already 💸 <---my money leaving me.

@MercyChant66 she's a tiny trouble maker 🤣. Jumps on his head then squeals ear piercingly loud when he retaliates. The sighs from him when she does it are surprisingly loud. He's the master at "leave me tf alone" eyerolls.

I’m in a different time zone where it is 6.30pm and I am on a train to Seoul to catch my flight home tomorrow morning. We have been visiting DD who is living here. I am so sad to be leaving her having not seen her since January. But so proud of her and we had a great holiday.

JellyRains · 04/10/2025 10:58

I've had a very quiet morning, woke up at 8 and came downstairs where I've messed around on the internet ever since. DW took the dogs out, a friend has come to stay but appears to be having a long lie in, and DS won't surface til he's dragged up.

We're going to a lovely place by a loch for lunch, the winds have died right down but still fairly noisy.

Tonight we're watching Hocus Pocus - friend hasn't seen it!

BritishDesiGirl · 04/10/2025 10:59

Good morning,

Had my flu jab today, surgery was very busy so lots of standing.

Then off to do a shop with the little one, elder DD went with Dad to pick up one of his relatives from London.

Feeling exhausted just getting to the end of first 12 weeks of pregnancy.

ShipshapeShore · 04/10/2025 11:05

I want a day under a blanket with a book but we need to go out soon as the estate agent is doing a viewing. Had a stressful week, and I was rejected for the job I have wanted for several years. Feeling a bit wobbly about everything today so the cat pics are very welcome!

frozendaisy · 04/10/2025 11:10

Good morning @lucysmam et al, ye gods it’s bloody blowing here on a hillside, bright sunshine but only 9° and the leaves are coming down fast.
We took the dogs on a loop around the bridleway and fields, it was quite difficult getting my breath in places, there’s not much between here and the Bristol Channel! They enjoyed it as usual, we stood and watched a hefty downpour hit the hills in the distance, some 20 miles from here. They were completely blotted out. We often see the weather split each side of the hillside we’re on, stormy squalls totally missing us.
I’ve enjoyed my sourdough toast with avocado and smoked salmon, the dogs are both asleep and the sun is shining.
I don’t have much planned for today except some arty bits at some time and jacket potatoes with prawns and seafood sauce with salad for dinner I think. I need to start a good book too, I finished Andrew Lownie’s book ‘Entitled’, it left me feeling utterly appalled and revolted after reading everything the Yorks have done over the years. Sickening pair.
I have ordered a wheat bag for my painful shoulders and neck, I hope it arrives soon!
Have a lovely weekend 🌻

lucysmam · 04/10/2025 11:12

Ah @ShipshapeShore that's rubbish. Can you go somewhere nice while the agent does the viewing?

A child free night yesterday until 3pm today, so we had a lie in til 8ish, cuppa in bed, got up and went out for a Toby breakfast 😋 and a mooch around a car showroom. DH gone to work for rest of day and eve now, I’ve put some washing on and will most probably potter / chill until dd comes back with PIL later and they’ll have a cuppa here. Something quick for dinner and movie with dd until her bedtime then I’ll chill again!

TrickyD · 04/10/2025 11:23

Hi Lucysmam!

We are expecting DS1 and son to arrive as it is DS’ birthday on Wednesday.
54, I can’t believe it!
DS2 and his family will be coming for birthday supper.
i made the cake yesterday, sponge Mary Berry’s version with lots of cream and cherries plus a ‘D’ picked out in more cherries as his name begins with it.
DH has gone to pick up the latest family holiday picture. We take a pic all together every year and get them enlarged, framed and fixed up in the kitchen, Hope you and the girls are all well and happy.

Puregoldy · 04/10/2025 11:31

Currently on the train to go the theatre can’t wait! Teenage company could be better currently preferring games to talking but hopefully it gets better! Enjoy your weekends everyone!

kittiker · 04/10/2025 11:39

Good morning all. Currently sitting in the hairdressers, getting my roots done. We were supposed to head off today to visit parents before a week-long holiday in Northumberland. But the weather is still pretty bad here and the roads are looking a bit ropey so we'll just wait and head down early tomorrow. So we have an extra day to get organised which is great, actually. DS had an almighty meltdown last night, first one in ages , so I'm feeling a bit down. Ds is totally fine, of course - happily repairing RC cars! DH has helped in cheering us up by making Hong Kong french toast after watching a Facebook video - it was lovely but incredibly filling and a bit sickly by the end. I think I prefer it with ketchup. We'll have a lazy afternoon of packing, tidying and trip planning. Then something easy and yummy for dinner, maybe a takeaway. A few episodes of Demon Slayer, DS's current favourite, will no doubt feature too.

ThreePears · 04/10/2025 11:49

Morning all. So far I've had a bowl of bran flakes with sultanas, had several cups of tea & coffee and been out to the local retail park for a few odds and ends. Finished up in TK Maxx and came home with a handbag I don't need. I don't know how that happened.😂

Housework & laundry beckons. I also want to do some switching around of summer and winter clothes - there is a big basketful of jumpers on the spare bed awaiting my attention, so perhaps I ought to get on with it.

I might have a cheese omelette for lunch.

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 04/10/2025 11:56

Good morning @lucysmam & everyone on this wet & very windy Saturday. It’s died down a bit for now but I really thought the back fence was going to fall down at one point! Was very worried about the bunnies as their hutches are near the fence.Only just eating brekkie as I went back to sleep after DH left for work & didn’t get up til gone 10 which is unusual for me. So so tired as I’m due my Vit B12 injection this coming week. I would have a 2nd cuppa but we’re out of milk so I’ll pop to Tescos in a bit. Sadly working this afternoon & into the evening. We’re having an easy tea of scampi, chips & peas. Looking at piles of dirty dishes but DH has offered to do the dishwasher at lunchtime. There’s more than usual as DD & her GF made pizzas & baked brownies yesterday plus I did slow cooker Marry Me chicken. Tumbledryer is on although I risked hanging a couple of hand washed bras out. It almost immediately hailed! They are meant to dry flat but I need one for work. I actually washed the one I’d only been wearing a few days instead of the one in the laundry bin - no idea why! So then I had to wash the other one! Currently wearing an old one from before I got measured. It’s a 40C & I’m a 36F! One of DD’s jumpers is in the washing machine at 30. Might catch up with Emmerdale once I’ve got some milk & will watch Strictly tomorrow . Have a good day & keep your feet on the ground folks! 💨🍃💨🍃

Chelsea26 · 04/10/2025 11:57

Morning (just!) All

I’m having quite a lazy day and I’m enjoying it! DP got up and told DSS to play rugby and picked up DSD who was at a party and then sleepover last night.

I had a coffee in bed and then made bacon and egg sandwiches for me and DS1&2.

Done some washing and marinated the chicken for our Fando’s later and now on the sofa listening to the wind outside - it’s very blowy!

DS2 has an eye test now so will take him and then come back to snuggle on the sofa for the rest of the day!

Rowgtfc72 · 04/10/2025 12:06

Afternoon ( just)
Got up at 7am to get doggo out before the bad weather arrived. He's been out twice now with his dachsund ears blowing in the wind!
Washing done and out with four pegs in each.
Weekend of tv motorsport here.
F1 academy on now, then f1 quali followed by BTCC quali.
BTCC final tomorrow ( we were at Silverstone a fortnight ago for the penultimate round)
Singapore f1 tomorrow in-between.
Stay warm and dry everyone.

Bbq1 · 04/10/2025 12:19

Afternoon! Woke up to ds (20) coming in v earjy hours and texting us to tell us one of the fence panels had blown out with the wind. Ds had said he was staying out at a friend's flat but decided to head home instead. He's still asleep so Dh and I had a sleep in and breakfast in bed. Showered now and we're now waiting for a gardener to come at 1pm to assess our garden and tell us how much they will charge to sort it. We aren't green fingered in the slightest! This afternoon, we'll brave the winds to go and collect my new glasses and I need a bracelet fixing at the jewellers. We'll probably call into Costa. Home then for tea (don't know what yet!) and Strictly! Ds probably in tonight after rehearsal with his band later.

SilkiePenguin · 04/10/2025 12:30

It's very windy here and the cat has been cuddly all night and wanting lots of cuddles today, he's purring a lot but makes sad noises if you stop cuddling and think he's a bit scared of the wind. I have his heater on which is helping.

We are having roast dinner for lunch today as tomorrow moving DDs things for university, and had a veg and fruit box from the farm shop and will be trying their potatoes, Chinese cauliflower and cabbage.

Have bulbs arriving today from RHS with yodel and have 3 orders to collect from Dunelm including lights for the bathroom we are having redone and fairy lights for the garden shed and a light up robin and polar bear as DS loves to be outside in the garden and the shed.

Hope everyone has a good Saturday.

lucysmam · 04/10/2025 12:31

I’ve just battled to hang my washing on the line thanks to storm Amy! It’s blowing nicely though!

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 04/10/2025 13:11

P.S DD’s brownies were hands down the best I have ever had! Especially when they were still warm! Heaven.
