Injuring my knee

On the (embarrassingly small) rollercoaster at Wicksteed Park when I was a parent helper on a Brownies outing. They all took the piss out of me for being a scaredy cat.

Mt563 · 21/09/2025 17:22

When the nhs told me to wait another 3 weeks to my 12 week appointment for confirmation of my miscarriage. Left my husband to deal, went outside and wailed like a banshee. The lack of care on top of losing my baby was too much.

ApricotCheesecake · 21/09/2025 18:08

Childbirth (DC3) for me. The loudest (possibly only?) time I've heard DH scream was when he did a bungee jump.

DemBonesDemBones · 21/09/2025 18:14

Crowning with every baby 😆

LemonTwix · 21/09/2025 18:15

When a man half-heartedly tried to pull me into some bushes. I thought my screaming was incredibly loud. He gave up and ran off. I ran back to the bar (beach bar so open air) and no-one had heard a thing, so I suspect my ‘loud’ screaming was just a hoarse screech.

Sausagedogsarethewurst · 21/09/2025 18:27

When involved along with three young children as pedestrians in a RTA. I screamed and screamed to get attention (the driver hadn’t seen/couldn’t see us) and I remember thinking “thank goodness my voice actually works” ..in relation to when you try to scream in a nightmare and there’s no voice and you wake up choking/gagging. Or is that just me with the screaming in a dream thing? I never til this moment thought to ask if that’s something other people experience.

Maddy70 · 21/09/2025 18:28

My husband collapsed in front of me. I thought he was dead

Ringley · 21/09/2025 18:38

Working Tesco checkout no.1 as a teenager.

My friend came up behind me and whispered hello in my ear.

2 supervisors came rushing over, one thinking I'd been stabbed from the volume.

LegoHouse274 · 21/09/2025 18:39

Crowning DC3. It's my only unassisted birth, and his entire head came out in one involuntary push, with a second degree tear. I could actually feel the tear, it was total agony, hence the scream - but only for a second and then I was pretty much fine straight after.

Blingismything · 21/09/2025 18:42

Childbirth, I had a sore throat after.

MrsBucketHat · 21/09/2025 19:02

On a different but related note, I quite regularly used to have dreams where I was desperately trying to scream and shout but no noise was coming out. It was awful!

TizerorFizz · 21/09/2025 19:06

When DD1 got the job she dreamed of. Years of work and dedication and lots of others up for it! Scream of delight and relief!

Seagullsandsausagerolls · 21/09/2025 19:07

Myleogram. I'm was 9. I still have nightmares about it, actually had a nightmare a few nights ago.

HamSandwichKiller · 21/09/2025 19:12

I was in my car waiting to turn right at a junction. A strange man opened the passenger door and tried to get in my car. I screamed with everything I had and beeped my horn. He decided I was too noisy and walked off 😂. Bloody terrifying.

Blanketpolicy · 21/09/2025 19:23

During a nightmare. Gave dh a bit of a fright 🤣

Don’t think I have ever screamed loudly awake, but managed to get to 56 with no significant painful injuries (touch wood) and ds was an EMCS so didn’t need to push him out. I’ve had trauma but froze instead.

Giving birth to DC2. I screamed, both DH and the midwife shushed me because "that won't help" so I told them both to fuck off, that they weren't the ones in agony, and screamed even louder. And it DID help!

This was 7 years ago and I've still not quite forgiven DH (or the midwife actually but I don't live with her!).

The midwife told me my screaming was hurting her ears. I said I didn't care about her ears! (Don't think I told her to fuck off, but I certainly don't blame you!)

defrazzled · 21/09/2025 19:49

We all did our loudest screams last summer, it was remarkably liberating. DH was incredibly loud, we all had to cover our ears and run away! 😂

DoYouReally · 21/09/2025 19:52

When my appendix burst. Don't remember anything after that because I passed out and was rushed to surgery.

rainbowunicorn22 · 21/09/2025 20:02

my 1 birth was brutal, and I screamed my head off so loud. All the pushing burst a blood vessel in my eye too, so sore throat and bloodshot eye the next day, great for the new mum pics!

user1471453601 · 21/09/2025 20:11

I'd had quite a serious operation on my back (well, on my lung, but required removal of part of three ribs to get to my lung).

I remember the nurse in the high dependency unit, saying she'd get me out of my scrubs and into my PJs. I also remember her asking me to lean forward over her arm. The next thing I recall is wondering who on earth was screaming that loud?

When I became conscious again, I realised it was me. But I was in my PJs. So all good.

Mumofsoontobe3 · 21/09/2025 20:15

Giving birth to DC3 on only paracetamol and an exceptionally quick delivery. I didn't scream for long though as he was out in 34 minutes! 😳

ILovePeggySue · 21/09/2025 20:25

One of my parrots passed away in the night, I found him. I had him from an egg, 14 years. I miss him. He had an indoor aviary, a mate who is still grieving. He was a lovely, simple boy and I screamed when I found him. That's my loudest scream.

BoarBrush · 21/09/2025 20:29

Can't quite decide.

Forceps rammed into me without so much as a paracetamol in my system, 3 bloody times! Never felt pain like it.

Every single nerve from hip to toe flaring on fire. Much worse than childbirth as it went on and on and on. My foot and leg is now numb though so...

The damn young crow sitting on my crop boxes right at the back door, I fucking shat myself and screamed like hell. The old boy next door phoned to make sure I was OK.

The racing pigeon that set up home on my shed roof, 1 foot away from the back door. Again I shat myself.

There was also the toad but we'll not talk about that.

I clearly am not very keen on birds. I think it's gotta be the crow. I absolutely hate them.

angelspike2025 · 21/09/2025 20:33

Falling down two flights of stairs and landing on my foot, snapping my ankle and foot
I didn’t realise I was screaming until someone told me after
endometriosis flares

saveforthat · 21/09/2025 20:37

Bending down to load the washing machine and my back "went"
