Who actually likes the new MN colours?

What was wrong with the old ones?

And why was the 😄 emoji taken away (and please may we have it back, if you're implementing site changes anyway?!)

OP posts:
Letmehaveabloodyusernameplease · 19/09/2025 21:24

I don't mind them but I keep thinking the OP's posts are posts from Mumsnet HQ as that's the colour they used to use, ( or still do? I dont know) 🫤

WonderfulSmith · 19/09/2025 21:27

People always complain about change and then flounce off vowing never to return, but I have to say that I don’t like them.

StuntAcorn · 19/09/2025 21:30

SheilaFentiman · 19/09/2025 21:16

Tap the person in the top right corner, select Settngs. Then in the more setting menu, select Talk Settings. It’s there.

Thank you.
I've just done them but they're all very similar, pale and pastelly.
Maybe it's still on the snagging list.

I do 😁

Me too. I especially like the peachy pink colour my posts are now 🙂

MNHQ is default grey now, I think

ExquisitelyDecorating · 19/09/2025 21:37

They're not bright enough, I had the OP posts in green and mine in lavender for as long as I can remember and they were really clear and distinct, all the new ones are so wishy washy that you can hardly see them when scrolling.

Caterfly · 19/09/2025 21:42

I don't like the shade of blue for the general website, never mind the post backgrounds. It's insipid and I thought I'd accidentally turned the brightness or contrast up on my screen.

Livelovebehappy · 19/09/2025 21:47

The blue colour for ‘original poster’ is the same colour as the one MN regulators use when they come on to tell you off…

gamerchick · 19/09/2025 21:03

I'm not arsed me. Who gives toss what colours of an internet forum are?

How much time are people spending on here where they care so much?

Even if you're only on here for 1 ninute a week, it's still nicer not to have a less nice experience - or feel assaulted if you have sensory or visual issues.

It's meant to be enjoyable; not a chore!

Timeforabitofpeace · 19/09/2025 21:56

Who cares. I don’t.

Timeforabitofpeace · 19/09/2025 21:57

I’d probably reverse them.

HerewardtheSleepy · 19/09/2025 22:02

My old nice golden brown colour is now a sickly pink. Not an improvement.

Suhbataar · 19/09/2025 22:09

I hate the new look. It's garish and childish. Why oh why do we need a giant obnoxious magenta label with 'original poster' at the top of their every post. Everyone knows what OP means; it's not a unique MN term.

But that's all just aesthetics

Main issue is accessibility. I have visual challenges due to MS and the high contrast makes it difficult and unpleasant (as so the constantly popping up auto playing videos, but that's for another post)

ExitPursuedByABare · 19/09/2025 22:25

Thanks @SheilaFentiman

Not much choice!

TwoTuesday · 19/09/2025 22:29

I prefer the previous colours, much less playschool.

ScurryfungeSpuddle · 19/09/2025 22:34

I'm not fussed about the garish blue or even the eye-watering weird pink that my own posts have turned.

But no matter which colour I choose for OP's posts, they all blend into the background of the thread so they're not obvious enough, even with the stupid big 'OP's post' button.

CaramelGhost · 19/09/2025 22:40

No. It's terrible... Mumsnet is for scrolling in the dark and now my whole room lights up

NoCommentingFromNowOn · 19/09/2025 22:45

I’ve heard many comments about accessibility so I think that definitely needs looking at and tweaking/changing.

Other than that, the main blue is too vivid and the colours for OP and your own posts are not distinctive enough from everyone else.

RobustPastry · 19/09/2025 22:58

The laugh emoji was being abused by bullies trying (and succeeding) at mocking posters in private. So please don’t bring that back.

I don’t like the massive new signs telling me when I have posted or when the OP has. Does anyone know, can we change the new colour scheme?

Please MNHQ, take away the fucking annoying video ribbon at the top of the page though, it is driving me nuts.

Can't really summon up enough fucks to give about the colours. The "original poster" and "my posts" labels can go though, quite distracting and completely unnecessary.

It's a shame a the laugh emoji had to go but I understand why. People are dicks.

redfairy · 19/09/2025 23:14

I don't like the blue. If it's been done for accessibility reasons then fine but given a choice I'd prefer the green. Easier on the eyes.

DontReinMeIn · 19/09/2025 23:14

Could someone post a screenshot for the lowly app users who don’t have the new colours?!

Oh that sounds very good re accessibility, and da concerns.

I hadn’t seen that post, so thanks!

Zonder · 19/09/2025 23:20

No, I don't like it, Original Poster, and I don't need to be reminded that I just wrote a post.
