I have heard from a few friends that there has been an increase in racial attacks since the Tommy Robinson march? Anyone know anything about this?

Are you not white? If yes I wouldn’t worry and enjoy a day in London. If no, I wouldn’t worry and enjoy a trip to London.

Brilliant, exactly this.

DiscoBob · 17/09/2025 11:31

There isn't a big reform/far right following in London. And more than half the population are non white.
So it's safer than many other places in the UK.

icedout · 17/09/2025 11:35

I wouldn’t worry about a racist attack. I would be vigilant though & definitely avoid using your mobile phone whilst walking around.

Liondoesntsleepatnight · 17/09/2025 11:45

I was there yesterday, it was fine. Central line was buggered though

OhamIreally · 19/09/2025 10:25

Not safe.

Don’t come.

GlassofRosePorfavor · 19/09/2025 10:30

I just asked my husband if he was safe at his job in the west end and he said no he's terrified and wants to quit immediately

he also sent me this emoji 🤔

This is interesting, my ex from West London use to say he only saw black people when he came to my area, South! The liar 😂 He is black before anyone gets offended.

As for the op I’m not sure why people are being so rude I think it’s a valid concern.

Cut your ex some slack! West London is huge, as is South London. The bit of W London I am living in is very white (for London, not for most of the UK), but up the road is Southall. I grew up in South London, which encompasses Brixton, Camberwell, Thornton Heath, but also Dulwich Village, Coulsdon etc.

I also suspect that any uptick in racial attacks since the march are not in London.

There has been a rise in antisemitic attacks.

Am also struggling to believe there were 'plenty' of black people on the march. Can easily believe there were some, and that photographers focused on them.

Ketzele · 19/09/2025 10:40

Of course most TR supporters would have a lower bar for 'plenty' than most Londoners.

And no, I'm not saying all the marchers support TR's belief system, before you come at me.

He always use to slate my area and say it was rough for this reason so I’m not sure I will be cutting him any slack as he used it negatively (again he is black himself before that offends anyone) his area was “posh” he lived in Notting Hill so not sure that would be an overly white area?! So it’s interesting hearing those statistics (I don’t live in any of the areas you mentioned)

NettleandBramble · 19/09/2025 12:00

I would avoid it. There was a terrible outbreak of manspreading last time I used the tube there.

I take it back! Don't cut him any slack!

It's the cold, dark North you should worry about. We file our teeth to points and will eat our own young.

You must be one of those rich northerners. We don’t have any teeth.

You’ll be fine, OP.

I feel a lot safer in London than I do in my hometown in the west of Ireland.

London is very safe.

Araminta1003 · 19/09/2025 14:38

Someone asked me the other day where to move to. My answer was that if there are no flags up, it is a safe long term investment! If there are, it is on a downward trajectory. It is the current acid test for home purchasing!

London is very safe.

That’s the point I’m making.

Sesma · 19/09/2025 21:51

Well, I wouldn't walk along on my phone, I wouldn't anywhere come to that. but apart from that it's fine

ThreePears · 19/09/2025 21:58

A number of my London ancestors were from overseas. London has been an international port for 2,000 years, ever since the Romans arrived. There's been a lot of foreigners in London for a very long time indeed. It is probably the most multicultural city in the world.
