Ive just got home and my daughter has pointed out i have three spots in a perfect triangle near my eye!
what on earth have a done its starting to get really irritated now! I dont see how anythumg had bitten me abd they dont look like spots.

OP I got dots much like that out of the blue one day. It turned out to be periocular dermatitis. Best google it - harmless, controlled with steroid cream, just annoying.

ThreeLocusts · 14/09/2025 22:10

PS. All the best for your nan! Sorry she's so unwell and good of you to be there.

justasking111 · 14/09/2025 22:14

Get checked out, you've a lot on your plate just now and so tick it off the list.

Looks more like periocular dermatitis than shingles. Shingles lesions are usually fluid filled blisters, those are just papules.

I doubt it's shingles or anything that requires any kind of urgent action. Just see how it is in the morning

You really should not give this kind of 'advice'
You have absolutely no idea what could be wrong with the OP

PiggyPigalle · 15/09/2025 09:14

@aufolandedonmyface How is it this morning?

Natsku · 15/09/2025 09:30

It might be shingles, it might not be, but because speed is of the essence with shingles treatment you need to get checked out in case it is.

BadgernTheGarden · 15/09/2025 09:34

Anyone could have brought fleas into A&E, they get onto clothing off pets and then jump off where ever. But if it could be shingles get it checked out, a friend of mine said before the rash it felt like electricity on the surface of his skin along the nerve line.

BeLilacSloth · 15/09/2025 09:58

Looks like a few spots to me, please don’t call 111 or go to a&e for this. If you start getting spots all over your body then yes, get checked out. But you really can’t bother a Dr with three spots by your eye 😂

Bother a doctor??? Who else do you consult if you have symptoms you don’t know whether to worry about or not? That’s what their actual job is!! My skin cancer (bcc, luckily) started with a single little red spot on my temple. Who knew? (Clue: the GP suspected, and referred me.)

PiggyPigalle · 15/09/2025 10:24

I'm not going in to how I know, but A&E staff don't think like that, especially where it's so close to the eye.
If it's no better this morning OP and your GP delays seeing you, get yourself to A&E. Even insect bites in that position need to be checked.

Obviously if it gets worse you need to consult a dr FFS but no need to run to a GP for this. Skin cancer from a spot etc… spreads very slowly so you don’t even need to consult a dr immediately and wouldn’t appear as a sudden three dots near the eye. 2 family members of mine have had skin cancer.

Rallentanda · 15/09/2025 11:34

If you ring up your doctor's surgery and try to make an appointment to be seen for shingles, they might ask you to go to a pharmacist instead.

Shingles is one of the conditions that pharmacists can diagnose and prescribe you acyclovir for practically on the spot.

Wishing your grandmother well, that must be really stressful.

I wasn’t suggesting the op has bcc. My case was just illustrative of the fact that you never know what a spot, for example, might be. Hopefully nothing, in the op’s case, but it’s the doctor’s job to diagnose and refer, not yours or mine!
Why there is such an ingrained idea in the uk that consulting a doctor is ‘bothering’ them, I don’t know. They’re paid to be ‘bothered’. Picking things up early can save a lot of ‘bother’ later.

Considering biting insects can inject an irritant, being so close to the eye needs checking out if it's no better. Shingles need attention too.
No one's suggesting skin cancer FGS.

My body does all kind of odd things to me when I’m stressed/ran down hopefully it’s just that x

MrsClatterbuck · 15/09/2025 12:11

I would get it checked out. I understand that the antiviral needs to be taken up to 72 hours from appearance of shingles to be the most effective. My dm was at A&E for something else and the triage nurse was concerned about her eye which her doctor had said was conjunctivitis. Turned out it was shingles and she got the antivirals on the spot plus ointment for her eye and a thorough examination of her eye. She went back for a review where they checked her eye out again.

TheGoddessFrigg · 15/09/2025 12:15

I got the antivirals by going to the pharmacy after my friend who is a nurse saw my rash. It was right in the middle of my shoulder blade so I couldn't see it!

Rallentanda · 15/09/2025 12:19

The antivirals can still be really effective after 72h - I got some after over a week and they cleared up the virus in about 3 days, huge improvement after just a day of taking them. It's a super effective drug and no side effects

You are giving really bad advice. Let's hope noone you knows has symptoms of anything which could be potentially dangerous and ask you for advice.

Sometimes it can be something small and innocuous that turns out to be something quite major.

My fucking spot suddenly appeared…
You can always tell when someone’s lost the argument! I’m not going to trade insults with you, though, because I’m better than that 😇

it looks like peri-ocular dermatitis, which can be brought on by stress.

Second this suggestion.
My dd had shingles and it didn't look like this

LovingLimePeer · 15/09/2025 12:51

Query start of shingles. Need to see GP or out of hours straight away to discuss antivirals and possible admission to ophthalmology given risk of eye involvement risking blindness if GP thinks it is shingles.
