I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot. I've been awake since dd1 got up to get ready for work at 6am & sort of snoozed until 8 when I gave up and came down. She fed the cats so they're both back upstairs on the end of my bed.

I've text dd and asked if she'd like me to do anything to help her pack for uni but she says she's pretty much done, there are just a few bits she'll wash and tumble when she gets in. I feel a bit like a spare part - I thought she might struggle with working long hours, and packing this week, but she's done 🤷‍♀️.

Today's very exciting plan is tidy the kitchen, list some things on Vinted, wash until the basket's empty and nip for drinks and breakfast for the train to London tomorrow. None of that will take long but dd2's room is a pigsty and that's her today job so I've offered to help get it straight - that will take a long while I think.

Whatever's left of the day, I'll spend either crocheting, or painting peg dolls. Most likely the dolls - I'm so close to the bottom of my list (it's likely to grow again though!).

We're having chicken salad wraps for tea, accompanied by a glass of wine for me. Then showers, and wait for dd to get home so we can triple check she has everything she needs!

What about all of you? 🙂

Dropped DD at school then put a £300 feed order in at feed merchant and then took delivery of 30 round bales of hay which has cost nearly 3K 🫣😔 due to the shite summer. Never had to pay that much for hay in my life and worried it won't even be enough to be honest.
Currently lying on the kitchen floor as done my back in moving said hay.

@countrybump tell me about the sticky halloumi, please? That sounds up my street 😋

It’s simple but delicious! Stir fried mange tout, pepper and rice or noodles, with loads of garlic and a bit of soy sauce. Topped with halloumi that’s been fried and then drizzled with honey and sprinkled with sesame seeds. Sometimes I stir the honey with a tiny bit of ginger paste and stir it through the halloumi while it’s still frying.

Good morning all,
I have been up early to take DD 2 to work and after work I will take her to do the final drive test before her test in few days time. Once the driving is done will going to finish university shopping before moving in 2weeks time. So my day is busy and glad I cleaned the house yesterday. Later I will be making sweet chicken wraps with potatoes wedges.

DilemmaDelilah · 13/09/2025 10:29

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone.

I haven't been anywhere near as active as some on here (already back from shopping in M&S!) But I have started to put together my stuff for going on holiday on Friday. Lots of swimming costumes because we're going to stay in a place with a private indoor pool, so I shall be swimming twice a day and there won't be time for them to dry between swims (North Devon... not known for its hot dry days at the end of September).

I'm waiting for a delivery from Iceland at the moment (the shop, not the country). I have now, rather reluctantly, come to the conclusion that since I can't stand for hours to cook any more, but I still like to cook, getting in frozen ingredients already chopped is probably the way to go. Not for things like potatoes or carrots, but definitely for chopped onions, butternut squash, mushrooms etc. I will still use real onions for a lot of things, but chopped will be much easier for things like bolognese, cottage pie etc. Mr Dilemma doesn't like mushrooms so being able to grab a handful when I want to make something for myself will be a lot easier and more cost effective than getting a containerful from the supermarket and wasting half of them. I'm not that keen on them myself but they are a useful addition when I'm making a vegetable curry or a stir fry or something just for me.

Anyway.... All that preamble is to say that I'm waiting for the delivery, there is quite a lot of frozen stuff, I have 'suggested' to Mr Dilemma that it might be a good idea to make sure he has got space ready in the freezer beforehand (he is in charge of freezers) and he has said - in one sentence - that he will sort it out when it gets here and ......(wait for it)... also that there is too much and he will never find room for it.

I have now bought all the 'bits' for Mr Dilemma's Christmas stocking AND his Christmas present and I'm going to have a very enjoyable morning wrapping those soon. I have bought and wrapped birthday presents for grandsons 1 &2 (both October) I have sent numerous pleas to sister 1 for her birthday wish list (end of September), apparently she has one but it has not been forthcoming.
I have bought the Christmas presents for Sisters 1 & 2 and their respective spouses so I can wrap those too. I do those early so I can give them to them before Christmas if they visit, rather than having to send them by post.

Grandson 2 has the first birthday in October, and I have received the order for his birthday cake. Reese's chocolate peanut butter cake, apparently. I have never made one of those, but from my recipe-googling it appears to be a chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting and Reese's pieces decorating it. I should be able to manage that. I will make the individual elements early and freeze them, just in case I'm not feeling great when it needs to be made.

All in all, it's a good day today, albeit with the requisite 'discussion' with Mr Dilemma (who I absolutely adore, should there be any doubt).

DilemmaDelilah · 13/09/2025 10:35

@twistyizzy I feel for you. Sister 2 is in constant pain from various musculoskeletal issues but still mucks out, lugs hay around, harrows the fields, drives horse lorries etc. She is going to be out of action for 6 weeks very soon and I'm hoping that gives her a chance to rest and heal.

Good morning all!

I’m still pretty sour about not getting Radiohead tickets and I also have a slight hangover 😒 DD is at her dads, DS is going out with his friend so dp and I are clearing out the garage and doing tip runs. In between that I will walk the dog. We have some prawns defrosting for prawn and salami spaghetti tonight. Have cleaned the kitchen from last nights shenanigans and put a wash load in the machine. It’s looking like I’ll be able to hang that outside. I REALLY don’t want to sort the garage, mainly because of my huge spider phobia but it’s such a mess and needs organising so I will crack on and get it done as I want my Halloween decs easily accessible!

Have lovely Saturdays all.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 13/09/2025 11:01

DH and DS1 have just left, in a jam packed car, to drop DS at his new halls to start university!

Lifejigsaw · 13/09/2025 11:10

I’ve had a lovely lazy morning as a rare treat. I slept until 8.30 then read my book in bed for a few hours. Now up and breakfasted and will shortly head off to a Pilates class.

After that I’ll head off to a cafe for some lunch and to do a bit of life admin on my laptop, until it’s time for my massage at 4. Then I’ll post some Vinted sales, do my food shop, and head home for a cosy evening in.

I think tea will be nachos 🤤

Whattheduck · 13/09/2025 11:12

Zippedydodah · 13/09/2025 11:21

Good morning! A tad late after aborting two attempts at a nice dog walk, three miles apart because of shooting (ZDog1 is terrified of gunshots, thunder etc) but managed to do a regular one closer to home. Poor dog, it’s horrible for her, ZDog2 is totally oblivious, nothing fazes her!
The washing is on but I suspect it’ll rain before it dries outside 🙄, I should have put it on before the walking.
The kitchen is clean and tidy, I’ve gone through the fridge and chucked out things past their use by date, DH is supposed to be doing some shopping but he’s still sat on his bum on his phone so I have no idea when.
I will do something art-wise in a bit, I need a coffee first.
Have a lovely weekend 🌻

FknOmniShambles · 13/09/2025 11:24

I went for a walk in the sunshine early this morning. Did 7k or so. DH had a lie in. Then went to m and s, nabbed a few low calorie ready meals with yellow stickers on forunches next week and came home.
DH and I are going to wander up to watch the local football team this afternoon, have a couple of pints then home for wine and games on ps5. Yes, we are overgrown kids but it makes us happy. 😂

Good morning @lucysmam and all, Im a bit late to the thread. Got up and had a nice hot chocolate and a browse through Vinted. I would really like a dress for the cooler weather so favourited a few things.
Started clearing out my front room ready for my tip slot which is booked for tomorrow. Me and dd have far too many books, so I sorted them into books for the charity shop, those not in good condition for the tip and a pile for my little niece.
I also filled two bin bags with rubbish. Now exhausted and have got back into bed. In a short while I am taking dd riding and to see her friend and then need to work out tea - probably fish. Have a great afternoon everyone!

Yellowview · 13/09/2025 12:28

Morning all or afternoon actually, another one up early I have cleaned and organised the washing. Plus walked the dog. Dp and I are heading to town in a bit but a pretty chilled day here. Feeling tired following colds. But need to organise myself for the week ahead tomorrow.

Simonjt · 13/09/2025 12:53

Good afternoon all, later we’re going to my husbands grandmas living wake, she has one every year, she still denies she’s a drama queen who loves being centre of attention.

I’ve had a group hyrox training session today, I nearly died, the kids went to a new play barn and apparently they were both menaces, what a shame I wasn’t there to help 🤣

Have a good saturday all

Anotherename · 13/09/2025 13:09

Love these threads.

up early this morning, I am dog sitting today . We went for a walk this morning, not far only 6k steps, but the dog has happily curled up in her travel crate for a nap , and Vera is on the telly.

son has been to his maths tutor, then gone with his friend and log book to spot trains and film them for his YouTube. (Yes I know 🤣 least it’s not drugs ) daughter has gone for her shift at work - she will be there until 9ish

husband is driving a bus for a charity event all day

im hoping to have a calm day

daughter is finding college awful atm and I don’t know how to support her and as you can imagine it’s having a knock on effect on lots of other things and her general mood/attitude/behaviour

oh I need to keep an eye on the washing too !

making a cottage pie for tea

HoneyButterPopcorn · 13/09/2025 13:16

Went to the gym goody thing then did the shopping. Home for a late breakfast and cuppa tea. Test of the day will the tidying up as I’ve been working stupid hours this week so consequently those working at home have made a right bloody mess. I’m happy testing up though so I’ll pop
on a radio play and get stuck in. Nice dinner and glass of wine, watch some Italian telly (to help my Italian language studies) and have an early night.

JingsMahBucket · 13/09/2025 13:44

Afternoon all. I’m just taking a break after cleaning all morning. We’re going away next week and we’re trying to clean the house before we like adults supposedly. 😬😂 It’s dark, rainy and cold where we are so it’s a good day for house stuff.

I cleaned the half bath, stripped the bed, put on a blanket wash and have folded the clean laundry. I was napping for the past hour but I’ve ordered McDonald’s for our lunch and will switch over the laundry before it arrives. There are loads of linens, pillows, and clothes to wash before we go. OH has cleaned the stovetop, vacuumed the hallway, and is bleaching the bathtub and the grout.

Dinner tonight will likely be chicken wings, sweet potato fries, and a mushroom spinach rice, all homemade. I might make a pear crumble with some canned pears too, just to use up some cream before we leave…

Have a good day all!

Fantasmic143 · 13/09/2025 13:52

I love reading these threads but am not often doing anything sufficiently interesting to post. However, I followed some advice on another thread a bout getting rid of fruit flies - we tried fly paper and sticky things on the windows unsuccessfully - boiling water down every sink drain and they were gone by the next morning and have not returned!!

ButtonMoonMrsSpoon · 13/09/2025 14:24

I’ve taken my zoo to the vets for their booster jabs, got drenched in the rain whilst trying to get said zoo in the car. Lost and found my keys, major panic over. New books from charity shop and now I’ve just got in, pjs on, cuppa tea and snuggled up with the dogs and a book. I’m doing nothing for the rest of the day and it’s bliss.

zingally · 13/09/2025 14:40

I was up at 7am to go to the small asda near me before it got busy. Home to put the shopping away, then a little chill before heading to the shops.
I'm going away for 10 days in just over a week, and fancied seeing if Primark had any new clothes to offer me. I just wanted a couple of t-shirts and some pjs.
Came away with 3 t-shirts (including one I'd see months ago and almost bought, but didn't - now on sale for £1!), 2 mid-weight jumpers, 2 pairs of pjs (a lighter pair and a more wintery pair), and a couple of new multipacks of knickers.

Then got a couple of bits from Boots, blister plasters and some antacids.

I then drove over to the garden centre, on the search for a kneeler to save my back when doing my weeding. Came away with a double-thickness kneeling pad and some knee pads. I came home and spent the best part of 2 hours weeding the patch of gravel I have out the front. There's a weed membrane under it, but it's shot to pieces and does nothing. It's perhaps 6m by 3m across, and the weeds had got away from me the last month or so. Speaking to a neighbour, they reckoned the membrane had been there at least 20 years, maybe even longer, so I guess it owes me nothing.
Unfortunately, I'm now feeling pretty achy. My hips are objecting, and my hands and fingers are tired from all the grasping and pulling, but pleased with a good job done. Fingers crossed that's the last "big weed" of the year...

Nothing much else on the cards for today and an "easy" oven tea for later.

declutteringonedayatatime · 13/09/2025 14:58

I was up at 8am. Fed the cats and wrapped a parcel before going to town to post it. Managed to find a couple of Christmas gifts for people and a snazzy box from TK Maxx to put them in.

@MonsteraAddict I've attached a couple of pics. Elizabeth is my favourite I've ever done! I'm currently working on Geronimo (penguins/sealife), Cave Baby, and...erm...The First Drawing. They're all in various stages of painted-ness. Geronimo will be finished Monday now probably and then I'll look at another set.
