I think we have it narrowed down between 2... she's my 3rd and final baby girl so needs to be perfect.
List has been whittled down from about 14 names...
Harmony or Vanessa?

Never name your kid Harmony. You will end up calling her 'Harm' which will sound affectionate to you, but pretty weird to other people.

What were the other 12?

Vanessa

Neither. Vanessa reminds me of Nessa from Gavin and Stacey, and Harmony will get shortened to Harm. Both sound fairly dated to me.

Melody is nice if you want the musical connection?

I knew someone called Vanessa, people called her Vanessa the Undresser. It had nothing to do with her character just what they called her.
Harmony is OK but does it go with your other DC's names?

I would pick Harmony. It's nice and unique and people won't call her 'Harm' unless that's a nickname you actively promote or accept. People warned of horrible short forms of all my DC's names...they use their full names and it's fine.

Congratulations on your new baby @ShinyWorthKeeping From experience don't be in a rush to decide. I was rushed and regretted my choice, although luckily DC seems happy enough with it, which is what matters most.

Definitely don't go for Vanessa if your surname is Jenkins because as soon as I see or read it, I think of Vanessa Shanessa 'Nessa' for short. Would you be happy with Ness or Nessa as a short form because at school kids always go for a short form.

Harmony would probably be known as Haaaa or Haz, or even worse Hazza.

I like Vanessa, although it's not used a lot currently. I like Nessa for short too.

Harmony, hmm. I am thinking of the strange character played by Patricia
Arquette on 'Severance'. Also not sure if I really like the sound. What would she be called for short? It's not awful though, I've heard a lot worse.

I think both names are fine but have totally different vibes. What are the names of your other children? If you don't mind sharing that is.

Out of the two, I prefer Harmony. Being welsh, Vanessa has the Gavin & Stacey link, which I wouldn't get over. Although, I do think Ness is adorable.

Depends on surname! My honest opinion is go with what you like and stuff everybody else!

Personally I'd pick Vanessa if I had to choose as Harmony is a bit too American for me. However, Vanessa does make me think of Vanessa Feltz or when shortened to Nessa, of Gavin & Stacey.

Then there's Nessa in Wicked, although that's short for Nessa Rose I think. It's a mellifluous name.

What you will actually call her will be something like muchkin, pickle or snugglywumps so much that her actual name won't be said very often in your house. What her friends call her will be one or two syllables based on her name. Probably Harm for Harmony and Nessie for Vanessa. Neither of those are great, and you will have no power to stop this. What else was on your long list?
