What do your young kids call you?

DS (aged 4) settled on mamma as his name for me and I actually prefer it to mummy for some reason so have never encouraged him to change. I expect I’ll got straight from mamma to mum when he’s a bit older. But over the summer I’ve noticed lots of calls of mamma at every farm/zoo/soft play from children my son’s age and older which got me wondering if this was a genuine trend, or if I’m just tuned in to listening for it.

So what are kids calling mum where you are? Is this a regional oddity or just a case of confirmation bias on my part?

My 3 adult DC now call me 'Marge' 🙄🤣

Edited

One of mine does that too, my husband has even started to do it as well sometimes 😀

Mam/mammy - but we're Welsh, it's cultural.

Mama/mumma thing is a total middle class trend. I blame the internet with all the mamma/mumma blogs/accounts.

I remember not that long ago 'mam' was seen as a working class term. Solidarity with all those that railed against the use of 'mum' even though the greeting card industry does its best to ignore us 😁

I always called my Mum ,Mummy when speaking to her and my children who are now adults call me Mummy but refer to me as Mum amongst others,as I do when chatting about my Mum .

My lovely Mum referred to her Mother as Mammy. She was from Wales ,as a family we are all Wales rugby supporters 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Hi there, I’m mostly Poo Poo Face. Or Smelly Poo Poo. Or Smelly Bumcrack. I keep asking to be called Mummy but it’s clearly just not as much fun.

My 6 year old flits between Mummy and Mama. The Mama has been a more recent addition in the last year or so.

My kids are 7, 6 and 4 and say mama but we're not British. I'm Polish and DH is Zimbabwean and mum is 'mama' in both countries.

It was Mumma until secondary school and now the youngest (12) calls me Mum. Oldest (15) sticking with Mumma.

No idea why they called me that. DH is Dadda too. 🤷🏻‍♀️
