Korean skincare

I know I should probably post on beauty but slow boards and all...

Does anyone use Korean skincare products? I'm really interested to find out if they are as good as people say, what brands are best and if they really do help with anti aging (I'm late 30s and need some help!)

Please tell me everything!!!

Hi I've been using korean skincare for about a year. My main issue is hyperpigmentation and acne scars. I like the skin 1004 range, corsx, round lab and beauty of josean range.
The best website for price is yesstyle. It comes from Korea so can take about a month to arrive. You can buy from TK Maxx, Superdrugs and Boots too.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 29/08/2025 23:06

Selfridges had a few ranges when we were in there , totally bewildering to me !So many products and steps to follow

I did buy some Beauty of Josean serum for DD she has quite sensitive skin so she wouldn't use too many products or change too much at a time .
I am intrigued by the Glass Like Skin it promises .

There’s a thread in S&B at the moment with a link to a special Korean skincare box that Boots are doing at the moment. I have just purchased one.

Then wash with a foaming face wash

Toner/ essence - pat with hands. Cam double up and use both
Serum / retinol
Moisturiser

Day time

Cleanser face with face wash
Serum for brightening
Moisturiser with Spf 50

Is Korean skincare worth the hype?

I'm a bit lost with it all

Mixed race in colouring and had very good skin until about a year ago

I'm 49. Now suddenly I feel as if I need a facelift. But there's no skincare that's going to help with that!

I seem to have aged very suddenly and it's extremely unusual to have that feeling after a good summer as well. I do normally look a bit rough after winter, but nothing that a little make up won't fix.

Now I just look awful all the time and make up isn't helping. I've never been particularly interested in skin care but I never had to be.

Have you been using an SPF through the summer? Was asking about Korean skincare care exactly for this reason! Is it actually worth the hype and if so what products. Do you use it?

Exactly! Isn't glass like skin the goal?! Unfortunately I dont think it would work on my aging acne scarred face!

Thanks so much for this. I think i might have similar skin to you. Have ordered a travel kit of the skin 1004 range. Do you think you've seen improvements with your scarring?

Blimey, I couldn't be bothered with all that faff! Day in, day out, day and night!

Do people really do all of this?

I bet the Korean don't!

I have never used a moisturiser in my life. Late 50s now, nice skin, very few lines, and look 5 years younger than my age. It's just a lie sold to women by the beauty industry. Men are not pushed to complete these ridiculous beauty regimes and spend 1000s of £££ a year on beauty products, make up, moisturisers, and skincare!

It does sounds quite high maintenance, but I rarely wear make up. However, I always wear moisturiser, and have done since the age of 15. I now wear SPF50 moisturiser on my face at this time of year.

I have been blessed with good skin and don't feel I need more than a good face wash and moisturiser most days. I use a cleanser as well if I have worn make up.

pecanpie101 · 30/08/2025 23:00

I've been using this for a couple of weeks. Goes on very nicely and has protected my fair skin from the sun well.
I will try some more products from this range once I've run out of my usual cleanser.

I also rate these brands.

I am in my mid thirties and have pretty good skin, but Korean skincare has made it better… really helps with texture, redness and brightening.

Some of the sudden changes we see with skin aging in late 40s are also driven by hormone fluctuation of the peri.
Skin loses elasticity, gets drier - so wrinkles are more visible.

I didn’t use much skincare until my late 40s. I did a bit botox - and it was enough. But as peri started - i ended up adding skincare - and it seems to help. I am not sure it really matters if you are using Korean or other brands - it’s more important to find something that works for you.
With aging skin - moisturising is important. As is SPF and generally avoiding too much sun exposure.

So - these days i use - toner, serum (can be hyaluronic acid; or Vitamin C; or retinol; or Korean/Japanese serums) , moisturiser. And eye cream.

I also occasionally do PRP facials - really helps to bring a bit of glow and life back, especially in winter.

Nothing stops aging, but taking care of the skin does help slow the inevitable.

pandora206 · 30/08/2025 23:17

I've been using Atopalm MLE cream as a moisturiser at night. It works well for very dry skin as it's hydrating.

Scottishgirl85 · 30/08/2025 23:18

You need tretinoin, Korean skincare and gallons of SPF (every day without fail, all year round). I've been doing this for a year. I will never achieve glass skin but I think my skin has improved.

EmeraldRoulette · 31/08/2025 00:27

@Mummabear04 no I've never used it

I do use an SPF in summer. In my case, it's not wrinkles or dryness or anything. I think it's just gravity! I feel like it shouldn't be happening because it didn't happen to my mum or my dad.

also, my dark circles are really bad, but that makes sense in terms of my heritage. But I can't cover them with make up any more. I just look like someone with dark circles who's trying to cover them up.

I am under a lot of stress at the moment, but again, I don't think that stress would make me look like I need a facelift! It's like my whole face is just going downwards. Like a cartoon droopy dog.

RampantIvy · 31/08/2025 07:13

I have a quetion.

I have always used moisturiser, but just how important is a serum?

Makehaysunshine · 31/08/2025 07:38

I’ve always had quite a simple regime and have often been complimented on my skin. Until I got into advent calendars. Now have all these products I have to use up and my skin definitely isn’t as good. You don’t need loads and loads of products. A good diet, plenty of water and exercise are the best thing for skin.
Oddly enough since using SPF much more religiously, I have hyper pigmentation. So I wouod like a product that would tackle that. Someone said how tanned I look recently despite it too, so doesn’t look like it’s working!

squishymarshmellow · 31/08/2025 07:46

I’ve used COSRX snail mucin (I know - but it’s great) for about a year and I really notice when I run out. My skin is quite dry and sensitive, but apparently it works for all skin types. It makes my face feel glowy and just a bit ‘tighter’ overnight. I found it a good product to start with!

Try the FOREO bear. It’s a game changer.

I started with this too and really like it, once you can get past the slightly slimey feeling and realisation of putting snail mucin on your face!

That's the thing though isn't it? You've been blessed with good genetics whereas I wasn't so need some extra help!

How long do the results of the PRP facials last? Im starting to feel i need something like this too!
