Looking for a huge jumbo bath sheet that is cosy but won’t necessitate taking out a bank loan.

Now my daughters are mostly moved out and no longer ruining towels with bleach and hair dye I want to get a proper big bath sheet- a huge one that I can wrap around me . One that is proper thick and dries well.
i have looked at Christy towels but they are expensive. Any cheaper ones that are as good?

Asda are good and cheap

Jennalong · 17/08/2025 09:51

Be aware they are invariably very heavy as well . Treated ourselves to a couple but find them too unwieldy to use .

declutteringmymind · 17/08/2025 09:51

Yeo Asda or primark. Look int he reduced section in Asda. Usually by the fruit/ stationery aisle. There’s is often one or two on that if you’re not fussed about design.

Also think Asda are great for towels

ElsieJay · 17/08/2025 09:53

Dunelm have some good ones .

cannyvalley · 17/08/2025 09:54

I got a lovely soft massive one from Dunelm recently. I got it in the sale so was good price, but I would have paid full price for it. It’s washed brilliantly and is so huge , which is exactly what I was after.

I’ve got a lovely towelling bathrobe which I envelop myself in - very cosy!

CissOff · 17/08/2025 09:59

I’ve tried loads and alway go back to my Primark ones. I find the expensive ones too thick and not as absorbent - the water kind of just moves around.

The Primark ones aren’t super fluffy but plenty big enough and actually dry you

Whatareyoutalkingaboutnow · 17/08/2025 09:59

I've had some good ones from Sainsbury's think they are habitat.

Tiredofwhataboutery · 17/08/2025 10:00

I buy towels from justlinen.co.uk they always have sales stock a Christy bath sheet starts at about £18 always a code for an additional 10-15% off. I used to run holiday lets and bought a lot of stuff there over the years.

MaisyMary77 · 17/08/2025 10:02

I got all my from Bedeck. Lovely towels and very reasonably priced.

BigButtons · 17/08/2025 10:06

My current ones are all Asda- they have been ok but even the bath sheets are not that big.

They put a silicone coating on them to make fluffy but it does make them water resistant! If you wash with vinegar it helps break it down. I despair at all the chemicals that head into our waterways though. My towels are all 10+ years old so I suppose at least once it’s off you can keep using them for ages.

NuffSaidSam · 17/08/2025 10:06

TKMaxx do some really nice towels, I think including Christy sometimes.

PaisleyCarpet · 17/08/2025 10:07

I used to sell them and have done awful numbers of training courses on towels.

Egyptian cotton is the best in terms of absorbency and life span. After that, it makes little difference so long as it's cotton. Expensive brands really don't make a difference if it's all cotton; the really expensive ones will survive longer, but they are really very similar in immediate use to cheap ones. Christy are nice, but it's branding mostly. (I didn't sell for them, they were my adjacent brand.)

I find Asda are my favourite cheap ones. Very similar in quality to the £70 bath sheets I used to flog, but about a tenner. They last very well, too.

bugalugs45 · 17/08/2025 10:15

I’ve got John Lewis Egyptian, they weren’t cheap ,
possibly on par with Christy prices but I’ve had them 10 years and they’re still like new .

Tesco had bath sheets reduced the other day - I don't know what they're like. Mine are from Argos and going strong after about 10 years!

shellyleppard · 17/08/2025 10:18

Op have a look on eBay. I got two huugee ones for £20 . They are lovely and fluffy 😻

fatgirlswims · 17/08/2025 10:19

Home bargain are lovely and dry quickly. I think they are around 9.99 for a sheet. I have a lovely set in a dusky pink. The Asda luxe ones were too heavy to dry effecting and became heavy in use

Caspianberg · 17/08/2025 10:19

King of cotton. It’s who many hotels use also.

PsychoSyd · 17/08/2025 10:20

If you want huge towels that won't break the bank, try Turkish hammam style ones. I got loads on eBay, they were about £10 each & they're pure cotton.

TheChosenTwo · 17/08/2025 10:22

We went to Cornwall once and didn’t realise the accommodation didn’t provide towels (our error!), the nearest supermarket was Asda and we went and bought 5 bath sheets - they are enormous and surprisingly brilliant quality - we still have them now, probably 5 years down the line! Come up lovely and fluffy in the tumble dryer - we have others but the Asda ones were pretty cheap and cheerful and huge.

Is it cotton and can I ask you where you got it from? I've been looking for one for years but, even when they describe themselves as "cotton towelling", they always turn out to actually be synthetic or have a high proportion of synthetic material in them.
