I really want them to stop. Did anyone on here go for this long?

If you are fed up, why not get a mirena? I got my first after having my currently 19 year old and haven’t had a period since.

Agree Mirena changed my life! Much lighter periods and/or none at all! and contraception too. Marvellous.

I'm in agony. Hardly slept at all last night. Current period is now on day 14.

Could it be a fibroid maybe worth checking out?

Sorry to hear that so many of you are in the same boat. I'm just about to turn 55 and still having periods. I had a terrible peri menopause and got a coil in to stop heavy bleeding as I was so anaemic (i still bled on it but not so badly but very irregular) I had it taken out a year and a half ago as I didn't like the side effecfs and since then I have gone back to a pretty regular cycle. Some months its not very much or longer in between and I don't get premenstrual but no sign of it going completely. I'm not on HRT.

My granny thought she was finished after having several months without periods. She had my aunt at 55 but never had another period after my aunt was born.

I have heavy periods in peri, but am wary of Mirena for a few reasons. First the pain of putting it in and taking it out, the lack of freedom - if I decide I don't like it, I can't just take it out and finally the side effects as I've heard of some women on the coil bleeding all the time rather than not bleeding.

This is such a depressing read😅. I'm 45 and I thought that by 50 surely they would be over 😪. Mine are 8 days and bleeding so much I take some medicin so it coagulates and iron supp×2. It's awful😔

At 55?! Oh my goodness 😲

I'm 52 and just counting down to it being over. I never had any plans to have kids so it always felt like an unnecessary bodily function to me!
And peri menopause is a real bitch at times. I went 8 months with nothing and thought I was coming out the other side. Since then I've had a 'week on, week off' situation for the last 6 weeks!😡
It's like I'm trying to squash those missing 8 months back in!

God I could cry for her. Please send her a sisterly arm stroke of sympathy from me. Poor woman.

I will! I really feel for her too as she does a lot of public speaking and within seconds can be drenched in sweat.

i am older than her and my periods stopped around 56 although I had a post meno bleed around 58 which luckily turned out to be nothing sinister.

It’s interesting because I started my periods at 12 but my DSis was nearly 16 when she started. I assume this is linked to why she is only now going through perimenopause at 63.

This thread is just proving that God or whoever created the human species is male - if it was a female who had created humans, they would have put in an off switch so that once we were finished having babies we could just press it to stop periods and all that goes with it without any side effects!!

I know, a big surprise. My aunt is 2 years der than me and only 4 months older than my older cousin.

My DSis is 63 and still having regular periods! Her GP told her she is the oldest woman they have had at their practice still having periods. She is having dreadful hot flushes and is feeling quite drained by it now. GP is suggesting HRT now.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
