On Monday I made a big pot of chilli with turkey mince and lots of different beans. We had that with brown rice and a sprinkle of cheese.
Tuesday we had a quick and easy meal that has become a family staple over the years....cheesy mashed potato with peas mixed in, topped with extra cheese and browned under the grill. We had it with sliced tomatoes from the garden and some bacon.
Wednesday I made a bake with the leftover chilli.
It's a bit like a lasagne. Chilli at the bottom, then top with a tortilla wrap that has cream cheese spread on it. I usually do 3 or 4 layers depending on how much chilli I have. The last layer is just a tortilla wrap spread with cream cheese topped with grated cheese. Bake until cooked through.
We have green salad with it.
Chicken and Cashew nut stir fry with noodles tonight.

Really envious of those who have good takeaway/eating out options. Or is it just the one of you actually?! @EssentiallyDecluttering 😁😉

We've had to give it up all together because there's nothing nice around here.

I love good food but I've kind of lost interest in cooking and DH does almost everything else so I try to let him off this one chore most of the time.

We’re on holiday in a villa; today we had our main meal late afternoon, I had chicken and spinach salad with feta bonbons, yesterdays main meal was grilled lamb skewers and fries, and the previous day was Caesar salad.

The rest of our meals have been a bit hit and miss as there’s no decent supermarket so I’ve been having 2 boiled eggs and a banana for breakfast and yesterday I managed to rustle up ‘’mini pizzas’ made from a jar of passata, a rare find of mozzarella in the mini market, a slightly old looking jar of oregano from the kitchen cupboard and a few slices of salami and the tasteless local bread.

TitaniasAss · 07/08/2025 16:25

Most of our options we have to drive to, Chinese takeaway and Indian eat-in plus a couple of restaurants/pubs in walking distance but either very expensive or nothing special not much in between. Although new ones pop up every now and then. No fast food (McDs etc) within 10 miles. Wagamama is also 10 miles away but by our nearest cinema.

We are on holiday so it has been a bit hit and miss - if we eat out at lunchtime some of us will have what we consider our main meal so won't want much for tea and some will have what we consider a small lunch so do want a main meal later...

Wednesday - Sharing meat platter at the Real Greek for lunch, I had Gazpacho soup and pitta bread for tea, can't remember what the others had if anything
Tuesday - Lunch in a tea room, I had roast tomato and vegetable soup and a cheese scone, DS1 had duck salad, DH had quiche, DS2 had bruschetta with avocado and roast tomatoes. Then DH and DS2 had fish, chips and peas for tea (frozen) and I just had some toast and hummus I think, don't think DS1 had anything.
Monday- We all had toad in the hole, with gravy and vegetables

BunnyLover7 · 07/08/2025 16:40

Love a food post!
Monday we had a readymade quiche, new potatoes & peas
Tuesday was Pieminister pies, double cream mash & peas.
Yesterday DH had some filled pasta with a tub of basil & tomato sauce. I was out but wasn’t hungry.
Tonight is Indian ready meals.
I do cook from scratch sometimes honestly!

Monday - Spaghetti Bolognaise
Tuesday - Pork Ramen
Wednesday - Spanish Chicken

Waitingfordoggo · 07/08/2025 16:43

I’m actually struggling to think because I’ve been grazing quite a lot lately. Eating more than enough but small, frequent meals at odd times, like a little plate of ‘picky bits’ (sorry, I know lots of MNers hate that phrase), or a wrap or a salad or yoghurt with fruit. While the weather is warmer, I prefer to eat like this.
