In a few days I may need to post a card but I 100% don't want the area where I live to be franked on the envelope. Is there a way to avoid it? Plan B I send the card to you and you post the card for me.

Could you send a card from an online place like moonpig or funky pigeon?

HarryLimeFoxtrot · 28/07/2025 20:18

Do you have a printer? Because you can just pay for postage online using the Royal Mail website (tick the box saying don’t show your address on the label) and then stick it on the envelope and pop it in a postbox.

Lionness5 · 28/07/2025 20:19

Both really good ideas, thank you. Does moonpig not have any identifying stuff on the envelope?

No I don’t believe so x

mynamechangemyrules · 28/07/2025 20:21

Moonpig send from where they are so no identifiers for you (unless you live in the moonpig office)

Moonpig will send the card directly without it going anywhere near you, so won’t have anything to do with your location on it.

Are you not going to tell us why? The curiosity is killing me

Lionness5 · 28/07/2025 20:24

I'll have to look to see that's there enough space for the necessary message. I fear not. So I may have to go with @HarryLimeFoxtrot 's idea.

I can't let my ex or his family know where I am but I have to write back to his relative.

Are you anywhere near the border of your county @Lionness5 ? We are just 3 miles from the next county, and if we drop a letter/card into a letterbox just over the border, the postmark is the next county (which goes for 40 miles or so across, and roughly the same down,) so anyone seeing the postmark would have no clue where we live purely from the postmark.

Iloveeverycat · 28/07/2025 20:30

Online Royal mail. Just tick the box to not add sender address.

Lionness5 · 28/07/2025 20:35

Oh the border thing could work. I'll have to google as not lived here long so don't know what's around.

Printing a stamp on line is also a possibility.

Thank you everyone.

Post it to a friend and let them post it.

It worked when sending 8 identical valentines to dh's brother from 8 different places.

I had thought of that but they all live too near me or I couldn't ask them to do it.

Have a look on etsy, there's loads of places that will write personalised messages in blank cards for you and post it.

MargaretThursday · 28/07/2025 21:09

Say where you'd like it to go from and see if there's a MN-ter that will post it.

healthybychristmas · 28/07/2025 21:57

I wouldn't send from any specific place. How long do you want the message to be?

InstantUserNameJustAddWater · 28/07/2025 22:03

Post it from a postbox in a major railway station? Could be going to or from anywhere. You can DM me if helpful

Winterymix · 28/07/2025 22:04

I'd be happy to drop something in the post if you send it to me - PM if so.

Same here!

CornishTiger · 28/07/2025 22:09

I live in Cornwall if you want a third party to post it.

I would however ask that it’s ready with a stamp but unsealed so I could glance to ensure it’s nothing upsetting before I do.

Ineffable23 · 28/07/2025 22:10

I don't mind posting something for you if you want OP, but the Etsy idea might well with as well.

Or the stamp printing option, though I'm still not certain I would believe that definitely wouldn't get postmarked enough to risk as much as it sounds like you would be.

Justmuddlingalong · 28/07/2025 22:12

If you get a card posted directly to the recipient from funky pigeon or moonpig, there is no address or identifying information on the card or the envelope.
I think that's the best way to keep your whereabouts unknown.

ConcernedOfClapham · 28/07/2025 22:14

Use a normal stamp; they don’t get franked nowadays. Only if you go into a post office and pay at the counter, they print out that sticker that has a postcode on it.
