touch your elbows to the wall behind/floor underneath (or just generally put them in that position so they are opposite your ears)

OP posts:
frozendaisy · 26/07/2025 18:51

Yes can you?

CopperWhite · 26/07/2025 18:52

Yes, why?

gotellsomeone · 26/07/2025 18:53

Yes and you definitely should be able to

LaMarschallin · 26/07/2025 18:54

Just tried and yes, I can.
What's the significance?

Unless you happen to have disability that prevents it. In which case "shouldn't" doesn't come into it, does it?

openleaf123 · 26/07/2025 19:02

yes I can

orangewasp · 26/07/2025 19:04

Yes, why?

Yes and you definitely should be able to

Or not?

I can't even put my hands on my head. I can't even touch my face with one hand.

So no, some people definitely aren't able to

MissMarplesGoddaughter · 26/07/2025 19:06

Yep, piece of cake

I’d still word it the same way.

a healthy, able bodied person should be able to and if you can’t then there must be a medical issue you preventing you from doing so.

CoraPirbright · 26/07/2025 19:16

Yes but only just about with my left as had a frozen shoulder (so bad I had to have surgery and its still only about 95% of the way there which I am grateful for given I could only lift about an inch from my side the day before I had the op!)

mumda · 26/07/2025 19:20

Urgh my wrists are tingling now.

ComtesseDeSpair · 26/07/2025 19:21

Yes, though not without it feeling awkward, but I have very tight shoulders from lifting weights and I don’t do the post-workout stretches I should.

Cinaferna · 26/07/2025 19:25

Yes but i could feel the stretch a bit, in a nice way, across the front of my shoulders. Going to do it more often.

So you needed an 'unless' in your statement then

LaughingCat · 26/07/2025 19:35

Yes, definitely can do that. Lovely feeling.

cremedelacraps · 26/07/2025 19:35

OP, this is mumsnet. If you asked if "can you tuck your legs into your arsehole" you would have a chorus of "easily", "and my arms", etc.

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 26/07/2025 19:38

I can touch a wall, but if I lie on the floor I can't put both elbows down to the floor. I'm quite flexible generally so I don't know why... I also have had frozen shoulders though, and I wonder if this has affected them in a long lasting way.

I do see your point.
But, unless I'm completely misunderstanding this, it's a very easy posture to assume for an an able-bodied person (which I assumed was a given).

InMyOpenOnion · 26/07/2025 19:44

Yes, now that I have finally recovered from my shoulder injury. I wasn't able to for about 8 months so it's great to do it without pain again.

Simplegazette · 26/07/2025 19:46

Please move to the sex board 🤪

Or maybe the original poster needed to put in exemptions from the question - to define if they wanted a general comparison of abled bodies or if they wanted a more general to include all physical abilities

cremedelacraps · 26/07/2025 19:49

I see a lot of older but able bodied people in my yoga & pilates classes who can't hold their arms straight by their ear so would never assume everything is so easy for others.

Lollylolo · 26/07/2025 19:52

Sorry but I must be missing something? If I put my hands behind my head my elbows are pointing forwards so how would I be able to have them touch the wall behind me? If I extend my arms/elbows outwards then the backs of my arms/elbows would touch the wall? Is that what the OP means?

OtherS · 26/07/2025 19:56

Yes, easily.
