all creatures great and small is wonderful! I forgot about that one. A true hug of a show.

Toucanfusingforme · 26/07/2025 14:33

Film wise I can never resist The Core, Dante’s Peak, Volcano……. I love a good disaster movie.😁
Also The Dark is Rising and the Spiderwick Chronicles for less disaster and more magic.
For Christmas tosh I love the Mrs Miracle films.

Miranda...really helped me get through a very tough period last year. A very warm and funny big hug of a show.

Shakespeare and Hathaway. If I’m poorly, I’m rewatch all the series (new series due out soon).

(Pressed the gif by accident. Not sure how to remove it).

A couple of films I watched recently and enjoyed:
Mrs Harris Goes to Paris with the wonderful Lesley Manville, it feels like a fairy tale
A Man Called Otto with Tom Hanks, although it will make you weep in at least two places!

Darling Buds of May (the David Jason, Pam Ferris, Catherine Zeta Jones version)

Detectorists

Mortimer & Whitehouse Go Fishing

I love drama/comedy that is family/relationship/friendship based when I want some comfort TV.

My go to series are:

Cold Feet (both early series and the more recent)
Stella
Mount Pleasant
This is Us

I also sometimes re-watch things like Sex and the City/And Just Like That.

Also, you sometimes can't beat a bit of Vera.

The original of Mrs Harris with Angela Lansbury is far superior to the LM version..

Years ago now I loved To The Manor Born with Penelope Keith. It weirdly gave me a lovely sense of peace!

@Coffeeishot that's exactly how it made me feel.

Yes, if only for Selena Gomez’s knitwear.

Also Shetland.(Scenery, knitwear.)

The Split. Amiable bickering among a family of lawyers, Nicola Walker in wonderful clothes.

And it is true that ‘What would Sr Michael do?’ is an excellent approach to many of life’s minor problems.

Midsomer Murders, Rosemary and Thyme.

I’ve recently been watching northern exposure. Haven’t watched it since ithe 90s and loving it. It makes me feel so calm and sleepy.
They don’t seem to make such family friendly shows like this that I can watch with the kids.

Drivingthevengabus · 26/07/2025 22:55

Peep Show and The It Crowd.

Fergie51 · 26/07/2025 22:55

Friends

Bergerac. And I saw some old episodes recently, so comforting. The theme tune, the car, the characters, the scenery, the story lines . I used to watch it with my parents. I see now why my mum liked John Nettles.

Paddington 2 - agreed!
