I was lying here thinking about what to make for dinner (I really wanted to make a tuna pasta bake but I forgot to buy mushrooms) and now I can't stop thinking about the cheese toast and tomato soup I ate this week, It was home made soup (not by me!) and FUCKING TREMENDOUS and I just know it won't taste half as good if I make it!

I had an appointment away from home yesterday for an iron infusion , it was close to my absolute favourite bakery so the car took me there against my will after it finished

They do the best sandwich , a NY Deli on focaccia so had one of those and a cruffin with fig leaf custard , raspberry and peach. Sensational

went to a womens mingle night at a local restaurant. Welcome drink plus one other drink included and SO many tappa type things, replenished constantly and then dessert. I went back for several of the little finger sandwiches with cucumber and I am not sure what else, and also a gorgeous slice of baquette with the best ever salmon tartare I have ever experienced. Oh and a breaded ball that I thought was just a croquet, but inside, my god, the melty goodness with seafood and a very mild cheese, Still drooling.

Crab linguine.
white crab (Seafood & Eat it), with garlic, chilli and parsley. And a squeeze of lemon.

Roast cornfed cold chicken, Jersey Royals, homemade coleslaw, little gem lettuce and tomatoes.

Tallullahmakata · 25/07/2025 20:19

This thread is very worthy...I've just shared a box of lemon French fancies with my fiance, gifted by a small child. They were excellent.

Ok now I don't like lemon French Fancies specifically, (I hate lemon flavoured things generally if i'm honest but the other 2 flavours are great) but you're fiancé better be a fantastic person to share French fancies with!!

A bowl with poached eggs and sautéed mushrooms, spinach, and broccoli, with sesame seeds and a sweet soy sauce, and brown rice (from a restaurant, not made by me). Was delicious but I was hungry 2 hours after eating it, so I had to have four samoosas!

After having a child with an abusive man, then marrying the wrong man and reading many pages of advice on when to ltb (potentially 23 years too late!) , I can confirm he's a good 'un 🤣

I tried 'marry me' chicken from BBC good food and it was rather nice. The DC ate it all.

FeelingLessTired · 25/07/2025 20:38

Today I treated myself to a cafe pastry which I never do. It was a sfogliatelle with chocolate inside. It was delicious, but mainly because it really was a rare event for me.

But savoury wise this week I smeared chicken legs in mayonnaise and peri peri seasoning then cooked them in the oven. I'd never thought of using mayo as a marinade before, but saw it on youtube and gave it a go. It was really good- even the fussiest DS1 who has food issues thought it was the business.

Can I cheat and tell you about a dish I ate some months ago which I still stare into space and dream about whilst drooling in my slippers? It was a 'rag pudding', which is a suet roll with soft slow cooked steak inside. It's the dish I will dream of on cold winter days into my old age, when you just need calories and unctious meaty goodness.

JennyWreny · 25/07/2025 20:50

Crispy Beijing beef from the Bored of Lunch instagram guy. Love it but the beef seems to cost twice as much as it did when I started making it about 18 months ago 😩

ShinySquirrel · 25/07/2025 20:51

A ham and cheese toastie that I made, but it was perfect. I did it in the air-fryer and buttered the outside of the bread; mayonnaise on the inside. The ham was good quality and the cheese was a mix of cheddar for flavour and edam for stretchiness. Seasoned with black pepper and pul biber.

Besides that, it's the Big Mac meal I've just had. Perfect chips, crispy lettuce, just the right amount of sauce. Delightful.

oh can you share the McDonalds?! A good Big Mac (or any of their food of late) is like hen’s teeth these days😅

Cinaferna · 25/07/2025 21:50

DH made a gorgeous aubergine and pepper thing with tahini sauce one night and we had gthe left overs for lunch. then I made really nice stuffed peppers with a crispy cheese and breadcrump topping and we had the left overs next day too. Can't choose between them. I work away from home a fair bit and it is all catered with loads of rich food. Fun for a couple of days but after a week or two I crave vegetables and healthy home cooking

Home made tahini flapjacks. So calorific but so tasty

They sound good. I have a fixation with tahini right now. I know it is really calorific but it tastes like it's doing you so much good, and it's delicious.

Oh yes! I had a wonderful Big Mac the other day! Fresh, hot, tasty and the same with the chips. I enjoyed every bite!

Nothing can beat a fresh, crisp, salty McDonald’s fry.

Itslookinglikeabeautifulday · 25/07/2025 23:55

A crispy duck and noodles dish that I hadn’t tried before at Wagamama. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. It was a lovely impromptu get-together with DD and she suggested the dish.

Im redacting my previous answer because I made Shakshuka for breakfast with a different sucuk to usual and it was FABULOUS!
