Something quite innocuous giving an adult "the ick" . "like" every other word in a sentence..we are pregnant! Moving forward,as if you can move backwards.

Zov · 15/07/2025 14:53

'Hand hold please...............' when someone has an 'ishoo...' 🙄

What the fuck does that even mean? Why do you want someone's clammy hand grabbing hold of yours if you have a problem? ConfusedI HATE 'hand holding.' I 'don't even like my own DH holding my hand when we're out, as I find it restrictive and irritating.

'It's giving ..... ' Woman with blonde hair and a nice white dress.. 'She's giving Marylin Monroe!' Balmy, hot day in the UK 'it's giving Mediterranean.' Just F off! Hmm

'Why don't you try weight loss injections?' Always said within the first 5-10 posts of any thread where someone says they need to lose weight and can anyone give any tips!

Use your words... ARGH! Who started this fucking shite?!

Pregnant people, people with uteruses, people with vaginas, CIS women, people who menstruate! THESE ARE WOMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Angry

I'm sure there are more.

'It is what it is'

Usually used to cut the conversation off and/or brush off your concerns or feelings on something.

Yes, and my typical response is “no it fucking well isn’t!”

Andoutcomethewolves · 15/07/2025 14:53

Pedant5corner · 15/07/2025 11:59

Literally. It weakens the sentence.

And they almost always mean figuratively

RetiringRita · 15/07/2025 14:54

LadySuzanne · 15/07/2025 12:49

To do someone a favour.

Elasta Girl uses the phrase in The Incredibles.

Flyswats · 15/07/2025 14:54

I hate the term "Hubby"
and I hate the word "Muesli" - my dad used to pronounce it "Muisli" and it drove me insane. He's dead now though, sadly, but it would still do my head in.

'Be kind' makes me not want to be.🤬

Be kind makes me feel extremely unkindly towards the poster

Brefugee · 15/07/2025 14:55

Rocketpants50 · 15/07/2025 14:48

I hadn't heard this until very recently but describing someone/ or an animal as unalive or unalived rather than they have died or been found dead/ deceased.

that's because a lot of social media platforms automatically block the s-word that means to unalive yourself.

scritter · 15/07/2025 14:58

RegimentalSturgeon · 15/07/2025 14:51

‘Bits and pits’ - unutterably disgusting 🤮 ’
’Be kind’
And, as mentioned above, ‘use your words’.

Kindly, just fuck your off. With your bits.

I wanted to add 'pits and bits' but it made me feel slightly sick even typing it out Grin

She turned round and said….
Haha!! Not sure if this just in the area where I am from but we all say this!! ‘He turned round and said…’ as though everyone we’re having conversations with have their backs to us!!

Yes - it conjures up a picture in my mind of people spinning like mad while having a conversation because it's never just one person, or one revolution - they're all turning round every time they speak!

My husband says this 🤢 when I tell him he needs a shower after several days without.

"A hill to die on" it is used a lot on here and is just a horrible expression, I;m not a Christian but I'd find it ultra offensive if I was.

What the f#ck? 😂 It's a military expression..... I'm actually affronted for you...😆

BrickRaven · 15/07/2025 15:07

Not phrases so much but words: hubby/ Brekkie 🤮🤮

I think that thing where teens and late teens make everything a question even if it is a statement is the thing that bothers me most?

DisabledDemon · 15/07/2025 15:08

Allswellthatendswelll · 15/07/2025 15:01

'We are pregnant.' Are we? I wasn't aware that you were going to have the morning sickness, swollen ankles, indigestion, backache, constant peeing and childbirth but off you go - I shall watch with interest.

Truly, bloody, annoying phrase! Any man who uses it should be obliged to squeeze a billiard ball out of his dick.

SuburbanSprawl · 15/07/2025 15:08

"I'm not going to lie...."

Well, good. However, you apparently considered it and, on this occasion decided to be truthful. It could have gone the other way.

Thank you for the insight into your ethics. I shall bear that in mind whenever you tell me anything

LarrySherbert · 15/07/2025 15:08

GreyLion · 15/07/2025 12:14

I say it as it is - I find usually said by someone who doesn’t know the full facts of what they’re talking about

Also someone who just thinks they're straight to the point and super direct but in fact they are just rude and I have to tell them that if I want their opinion I'll ask for it. 😑

yellowdress34 · 15/07/2025 15:09

Astrabees · 15/07/2025 14:16

It's a military term, nothing to do with Jesus. Wouldn't that be a 'cross to die on', which no one ever says?
