What would you rather have, a belly or a wrinkly neck?

Bizarre question, I know but I'm stuck between the 2.
Have a mum tum that only goes away at xyz weight, but when I reach Xyz weight my neck gets wrinkly.

I can gain again and the neck fill out but so will my mum tum and non of my jeans will fit nicely.

Or is there anything (non surgical) I can do about the neck?

I have this issue.. I've found it's much less noticeable when I make sure I'm verrrry hydrated, so drink lots of water, and use all the moisturiser

Oh dear, I have both!

Me too!

JustPinkFinch · 12/07/2025 19:48

Following for turkey neck tips. Also starting to suffer at 46. Really don't want filler (nothing wrong with it, just not for me).

Do facial exercises help for stuff like this, or is it all nonsense?

I've got a fat belly. I just cannot lose anymore weight because of the meds I’m on. So I’m in size 16 jeans but at nearly 49 no wrinkles.

  • I know that belly fat can have health implications that a wrinkly neck doesn’t. +

You can be healthy & a healthy weight with belly fat though which is why I went for that. Plus easier for me to disguise in clothes.

Belly fat is not healthy. There’s quite a lot of info as to why not out there. It’s not necessarily to do with your weight.

I have both too, i am 60 though.

Iamacatslave · 12/07/2025 20:16

I have both 😐

PickledMuffin · 12/07/2025 20:18

I have both 😭

SilenceInside · 12/07/2025 20:22

I’d rather not have a belly and have the neck wrinkles. It’s healthier overall, even though the neck wrinkles are not what anyone wants to have.

WhatterySquash · 12/07/2025 20:33

I don't have much choice, the blimmin belly will not shift despite all my efforts. (mid-50s) However my neck is doing OK so I'll take what I can get.

JustAboutMuddlingThrough · 12/07/2025 20:34

I have both

Thingyfanding · 12/07/2025 20:44

I’ve watched a few videos on Botox in the neck area that look quite promising for a short term solution.

I have a bit of wrinkly skin on my neck and a bit of a belly too. I’d probably go for neck over belly due to the health implications.

shirtyshirt · 12/07/2025 20:47

@Ddakji fat is subjective though. I repeat having a bit of belly fat doesn't mean you are unhealthy. Presumably the OP isn't choosing between a healthy weight & obesity....

I mean it doesn't consume my every thought but on the occasional photo it catches my eye.

Ah, still a youngster. You’ve probably got another 10-12 years before you think sod it and forget all about it.

BoarBrush · 12/07/2025 22:15

Wrinkly neck 100%. I've been blessed with the skinny genes but I've seen how my mum and gran have turned, no thank you.

MondeoFan · 12/07/2025 22:16

I’ve got both and I’m 53 years old. My belly isn’t that big but is noticeable in certain clothes. I’m at an ideal weight now not to have such a wrinkly neck so I’ll have to stay as I am

TheWelshposter · 12/07/2025 23:21

I'm so glad to see this thread because I recently lost half a stone and now suddenly have the beginnings of a saggy crinkly neck. It's really putting me off losing the last half a stone even though I feel so much better and clothes fit better round the stomach.
But the neck thing is really getting me down. Could it be because I've gained and lost pregnancy weight three times?

Any suggestions welcomed on how to improve it because it makes me feel so old. Funnily enough I'm not as bothered about face wrinkles, it's the neck that is annoying. I'm 44.

Madremia6 · 12/07/2025 23:21

I’ve both! 🙈

Isitreallysohard · 12/07/2025 23:23

A belly would be easier to hide. Ironically if you have a belly you probably won't have a wrinkly neck. After a certain age isn't it Face vs. Body?

MaryBerrysFannyHammock · 12/07/2025 23:25

@HettieHg this stuff works! I've found the same problem and it's working to smooth everything out.

BruFord · 12/07/2025 23:36

Hmm, I’m nearly 51 and am tending more towards belly than neck. 😂 If I exercise regularly, I can keep the belly relatively flat, although it’s definitely an ongoing battle. I’m not overweight, I’m a dress size larger than I was 10 years ago.

I have a facial every two months and I’m diligent with moisturizing my face and neck.
