Youagain2025 · 08/07/2025 11:55

Can anyone help me work my debts out. So that I can work out what I need to pay between now and before interest kicks in.

Lookagain:
13th oct 500
13th Nov 155

Very
13th Nov 965.00
13th Dec 308.00

How do I do a payment with myself so that theses are paid of by the dates above

OP posts:
LIZS · 08/07/2025 13:23

But it depends on how often you receive money as to how often you can pay out. It would be better to do so as soon after you receive income, allowing for priority payments like rent, council tax and utilities first.

Betteroutdoors · 08/07/2025 12:46

Ok lets try and help -

If you pay a bit every Friday I would split it like this
£35.72 every Friday starting from 11th (this Friday) to Look Again with your last payment on the 10th October
£69 every Friday from 11th (this Friday) to Very with your last payment also on the 10th October
Then from the 17th of October you start paying £38.75 to Look Again and your last payment is on the 7th November
Also on the 17th October you pay £34.23 every Friday to Very. You make the last payment on the 5th December. And then on the 12th December you pay Very £33.16

It will be a bit more painful between now and the 10th October where you will need a total of £104.72 each week, but then the payments reduce down. Would that work for you?

Thank you so is it like this

Look again.
11th july 35.72 every friday till 10th October

Very
11july 69.00 every friday till 10th October

Look again
17th October 38.75 every friday till 7th Nov

Very
17th October 34.23 every friday till 5th Dec

Very 33.16 12th Dec?

Is that right?

I have them sorted.

I needed to sort the ones in my op before the interest hits

Are you paying it to a savings account for you or to lookagain/very.

How much can you afford each week realistically?

Understand that , but the timing will depend on what residual amounts you have in your account and when next incoming amount arrives.

Im confused. Im paying lookagaim and very . Not myself.

Regardless weather i struggle im gonna have to do it as I cant risk the interest hitting

I did look at step change incase there was a better way. But i dont understand it at all. I get confused with stuff that is basic. Then I cant do it.

So I thought I would just ask people to help me split the payments in a simple way.

Ok I have a Very account and use bnpl but I can't make part payments, I have to pay by item or in full for bnpl. What I would do is have a separate saving account that I can pay into then once enough in there pay off the account in full.

£92 a week would be enough to cover the first 3 payments but can you realistically pay that amount every week? It would then be a bit lower for the final 4 weeks till the December payment

I can try . If not i will have to rethink . But hopefully I can.

Im sure i can make part payments ik going to quickly check. But yeah if not then I will put into a separate account.

Ah i see what you mean with the buy now pay later or paying for each item. I think I would have to pay of what needs paying first but also be aware of the amount owed for each item.

ChatGPT solution:

We’ll split this into weekly payments so it’s manageable.

🎯 Goal 1: £500 by 13 October (14 weeks)
£500 ÷ 14 weeks = £35.72 per week

🎯 Goal 2: Additional £1,120 by 13 November (4 weeks after Oct goal)
£1,120 ÷ 4 weeks = £280 per week (Nov only)

🎯 Goal 3: Final £308 by 13 December (4 more weeks)
£308 ÷ 4 weeks = £77 per week (Dec only)

✅ Suggested Weekly Plan
Here's a practical way to approach it:

💡 Phase 1: Now → 13 October (14 weeks)
Pay £35.72 per week

This covers the £500 due to Lookagain on 13 Oct.

💡 Phase 2: 14 Oct → 13 Nov (4 weeks)
Now that Lookagain is cleared, start paying £280 per week

This clears £965 to Very and £155 to Lookagain by 13 Nov

💡 Phase 3: 14 Nov → 13 Dec (4 weeks)
Final stretch: pay £77 per week

This covers the £308 to Very by 13 Dec

ChatGPT:

You: Can you spread it more evenly so I don't end up paying over £200 per week in November

ChatGPT said:
Yes — great idea! Let’s spread your payments more evenly across the whole period (from 8 July to 13 Dec — that's 22 weeks) so you don’t get hit with big payments later.

🧾 Total to Pay:
Lookagain: £500 (by 13 Oct) + £155 (by 13 Nov) = £655

Very: £965 (by 13 Nov) + £308 (by 13 Dec) = £1,273

Total: £1,928

💡 Even Weekly Payments Plan:
Total: £1,928

Time: 22 weeks (8 July – 13 Dec)

Weekly payment: £1,928 ÷ 22 = £87.64 per week

You said:
Will that make sure the balance is covered on the dates due?

ChatGPT said:
Excellent question — and you're 100% right to check.

Let’s now check the balance due on each due date, and compare it with how much you’ll have saved by then in the £87.64/week plan to make sure you can pay each bill on time.

📅 Key Deadlines & Required Balances
Deadline Amount Due Cumulative Needed by This Date
13 Oct (Lookagain) £500 £500
13 Nov (Very + Lookagain) £965 + £155 = £1,120 £1,620
13 Dec (Very) £308 £1,928
💵 What You'll Have Saved by Each Deadline:
Deadline Weeks Passed Savings (@ £87.64/wk) Enough?
13 Oct 14 weeks £87.64 × 14 = £1,226.96 ✅ Yes — covers £500
13 Nov 18 weeks £87.64 × 18 = £1,577.52 ⚠️ Short by ~£42.48
13 Dec 22 weeks £1,928.00 ✅ Yes
😬 Small Problem at 13 Nov
You're slightly short in mid-November — you need £1,620 by 13 Nov but will only have £1,577.52, so you're about £42.48 short on that date.

It didn't paste over very well, admittedly.

Basically:

£87.64 to pay off every week from now until last deadline.

With an additional payment of £42.48 to be paid for 13 Nov to make sure the deadlines are all met.

Makingpeace · 08/07/2025 15:11

This is what I'd do, starting now:

Set up a separate e-bank account online with whichever bank I use. Pay into that account £90 every week and do not touch it until:

On 13 Oct - pay the £500 to LookAgain.

On Nov 13 - pay £155 to LookAgain and £965 to Very.

On 13 Dec - pay £308 to Very.

You'll be able to meet all your bills on the right dates and will have a little bit left over in your account, just £52.

(Or if you can afford £100 a week, I'd do that instead to have a little buffer at the end to put towards Christmas).

Help me wity a payment plan.

And the cost is spread out: the same amount every week. Very easy to manage a single payment every week, rather than 4 payments every week.
