Are your kids boys or girls?
What is their preferred style?

MrsSkylerWhite · 07/07/2025 10:16

Cool?

Howcloseisburnout · 07/07/2025 10:16

Go with what your kids like/suits them.

There are way too many clones/followers nowadays, and from such a young age!

Maybe ask them?

Shesellsseashellsnotinmystreet · 07/07/2025 10:18

Under Armour... Not cheap but are ime hard wearing and quick washed /fast drying...

SwearyYellowStartish · 07/07/2025 10:21

I totally get why you might want stuff that’s reliably hard wearing or lasts a while but you’re trying to make your kids cooler? 😂

icedout · 07/07/2025 10:24

Are your kids preppy? Do they say slay?

I have no idea what is cool. Just take them shopping with you or online shop & let them choose what they like.

Auntiebenita · 07/07/2025 10:24

Why on earth would you want to make your kids more "cool" and get them hooked on brands if they themselves don’t care?

Gonk123 · 07/07/2025 10:25

Montrex is a big name in our house…mixed with shein and new look, Nike is also a biggy as expected.

InMyOpenOnion · 07/07/2025 10:28

It really depends who they hang out with as to what's "cool". Be lead by them though - they will know. I have one DC who is very interested in looking cool and always has a list of stuff he wants, and the other DC who couldn't care less and has never asked for a single fashion item.

TeenLifeMum · 07/07/2025 10:28

I’m have 2 year 9 daughters and both have totally different styles - one in sports wear, hot pants and crop tops, the other bohemian style. I let them wear what they like rather than trying to live through them. Dc tell me the “cool kids” at school are really naughty so not sure why you’d aspire to that for your dc.

okydokethen · 07/07/2025 10:43

Year 6 son only wants Nike/addidas/under armour

Parker231 · 07/07/2025 10:46

Why would that age group need to look cool - they are young children and should be dressed in age appropriate clothes.

Needmorelego · 07/07/2025 10:51

11 year olds.
Clothes for summer...
They'll need shorts and t-shirts.
Go to Primark.

Oreosareawful · 07/07/2025 10:56

I've got a yr5 daughter and everyone that is anyone is wearing Nike trainers, Nike Pro shorts and White Fox

My Y7 son is wearing Nike trainers, Nike T-shirts, Van's Air Jordan, crocs

SirEctor · 07/07/2025 11:09

Everyone that is anyone 🤣

Ask your children what they want, OP, and if they say they want Nike or whatever and you're willing to buy it then knock yourself out.

almondcroissantsatdawn · 07/07/2025 11:35

I have DDs and they are both quite emotionally quite young. We about to make the leap to an all girls grammar school and I just wanted to see what the big brands were that people's kids are wearing.
Not trying to live vicariously through them but also trying to ensure that they have the occasional item that is a bit more "with it" than generic.

And very keen on them wearing age appropriate clothing.

Aww op my mum was like this. She just wanted life to be a bit easier for us.

White fox hoodies are big for most tweens in my area and I'd say a fairly safe bet.

aredcar · 07/07/2025 11:44

around here the cool clothing for teens and pre teen girls seems to be white fox hoodie, Nike pro shorts, montirex, Nike panda dunks, light coloured bootleg flare type jeans from new look/shein with a black tight fitted top

YouSayTomatoISayTomato · 07/07/2025 11:47

My DD (Year 7) is pretty alternative and is very picky about what she'll wear. She wouldn't be seen dead in Nike/White Fox/Crocs etc. I'm sure your DDs will tell you what they like and what they want to wear, or let them choose! As long as the clothes aren't overly childish I'm sure they'll be ok!

Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies · 07/07/2025 11:50

Thing is, cool can be quite school/area dependent. I actually think helping your DD to fit in is the right thing to do. But it’s not easy. Do you know any parents of children who attend the school? Can you check the website for details of the next non-uniform day, and just happen to be in the area then to look out for popular brands?

dontforgetme · 07/07/2025 11:55

Nike and Adidas with my dd and ds. They also like Puma and The North Face. Vinted all the way!!

My dd is really into baggy tees and either wide leg trousers or cycling shorts - primark!

Needmorelego · 07/07/2025 12:11

This thread is depressing.
We should be teaching 11 year olds that brands and labels are not important.

2 things can be true at once.

Teenage years can be hard and unforgiving.
