Food for me.

I reckon I could plan better in advance, shop less and minimise waste.

Booze. Definitely booze.

RabbitsRock · 06/07/2025 13:54

Clothes for me - I have loads, many items still in their packaging, but keep ordering more. Jewellery too. I tell myself that I can put the money towards a holiday.

I could give up my membership at one of the posher gyms and go to the local council one instead. But I love going there, and go most days so get my money's worth out of it. It is my one luxury in life tbh.

Same! Also coffees out and meal deals for work. Frugal in all other areas.

Buying less prepackaged stuff at Waitrose and M&S! If I stuck to Tesco and cooked for myself I would save a lot, but I was raised on the good stuff and have no time to cook so it's hard to change my ways! I am struggling for funds though so I really should!

Fluffybagel · 06/07/2025 14:05

Shopping for clothes, shoes and bags 😂

BlackCatsAreBrilliant · 06/07/2025 14:05

It would save me a fortune if DC1 hated reading. But they love it and I seem to end up buying a constant stream of books (the local library is only open during school hours so is no use*, and the school library adds to the problem after DC1 borrows book 1 in a series, then the library doesn't have books 2-5 so those need to be bought). I know I could refuse, but reading is a hobby to encourage, is it not?

*I know ebooks can be borrowed online, but DC1 loathes them.

TheNinkyNonkyIsATardis · 06/07/2025 14:06

Takeaways.

Not the number of them, but should have cheaper chippy dinner occasionally and maybe buy fewer items when we get one as we never get through it all.

I spent a small fortune on books.

Got my kids - dyslexic - reading evan as older teens/adults - fed their curoisty about the world improved their vocabulary. Even now books are a common present to them.

I'd think I'd weep if I ever sat down and added what we spent over their childhoods up - but still overall it was worth it.

Ohmygodthepain · 06/07/2025 14:24

Takeaway food and ready meals.

2 older teens at home, one works tea times, the other has a hectic gym schedule. I've also got some health stuff going on so standing to prep and cook is really hard.

JustAnotherDayWorkingAtHome · 06/07/2025 14:24

Food waste
Take lunch to work
Electeicity (tumble dryer)

BCBird · 06/07/2025 14:27

Food. Onli for me is at least 90 pound a week. Will continue buying what I like whilst I can afford it

Stormroses · 06/07/2025 14:30

Treating everyone. I was broke for years. So now I have a bit of money I am always picking up the bill at restaurants and the bar, even when I know the people I'm paying for earn twice as much as me. I just love the feeling of being generous when people thought I was tight for years because I just had no money to spare.

Mary46 · 06/07/2025 14:30

Food. Coffees with my mam yesterday. God it all adds up. Ate here today had some eggs toast. I find its 5 euros here ten euros there.. Im in school job we off everyone wants meet up..

CeeJay81 · 06/07/2025 14:36

Food at work. Work in a coop, sometimes lunch is a meal deal or a ready dinner. Sometimes I do get something out of the clearance fridge though. Would probably save myself £8 a week if I made my own lunches but boring homemade sarnies aren't the same.

HairyToity · 06/07/2025 14:37

Saying yes to my children

JustGoClickLikeALightSwitch · 06/07/2025 14:38

Treating the kids - days out etc. I am really frugal with food, clothes, toys.

REDB99 · 06/07/2025 14:40

The constant tapping of my debit card as I just don’t really think if I could not spend the money, I just think ‘oh I need that’ and buy it. If I had an actual budget and stuck to it I’d have a lot more left at the end of the month.

Davros · 06/07/2025 14:42

Tickets for gigs, sports, shows, exhibitions. I do enjoy them but I’m a bit too quick with the purchasing. Luckily I don’t like coffee and haven’t been abroad since 2019

Starlight40 · 06/07/2025 14:45

Spending money in the Co op which is a 1 minute walk from our house. We have spent £45 in 6 days on comfort food. It needs to stop!

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 06/07/2025 14:54

All my knitting yarn and stuffing, and the cost of posting the items off to the charity.
But I’m not going to.🙂
